Chapter 26: Challenge Mission Completed!
Chapter 26: Challenge Mission Completed!
"Splitting Spell!"
Ivan's Splitting Spell hit the Troll's arm joint with precision. The Troll, who had been swinging its Club wildly, felt a numbness in its arm, and the weapon slipped from its grip. Driven by its own momentum, the Club flew past Ivan, the strong wind forcing him to squint. Hermione's face turned pale, and she nearly screamed.
Bang~
Thanks to Ivan's precise calculations, the Club did not harm either of them. It landed a short distance behind Ivan with a loud thud.
Losing its weapon did not make the Troll retreat; instead, it became even more aggressive. After all, the two small humans were right in front of it, weak enough to be crushed with bare hands.
Five meters!
The Troll approached, its tiny head revealing a bloodthirsty glint. Hermione closed her eyes in despair, while Ivan calmly pushed her aside and reached into his Wizard Robe, pulling out a bag and throwing it.
At the same moment, a beam of pure Magic shot out, hitting the bag. The Magic caused a light barrier to form, and the dozens of Iron Thorns inside the bag rapidly expanded to the size of a palm, scattering across the floor.
The Magic beam was an unexpected trick Ivan had learned in Transfiguration Class. Since his Transfiguration Spell had improved to nearly level three, the only spell that could be reversed was a low-level shrinking spell.
This was Ivan's prepared escape method, intended to merely restrict the Troll's movements. Now, it had become a weapon for active attack.
With Ivan's precise calculations, one of the Iron Thorns landed directly under the Troll's right foot just as it was about to step down. Ivan clearly saw the Troll's ugly face twist in pain.
Taking advantage of the Troll's instability, Ivan continued to back away and cast another Splitting Spell. This time, the spell targeted the thigh, which was supporting the Troll's massive body. The skin split open, and the Troll's mountainous form could no longer support itself. With one more step, it lost its balance completely.
The Troll's bulky and enormous body fell straight down, landing exactly where the Club had dropped.
By this time, Ivan had retreated to a spot just a few centimeters behind the Club. He waved his Wand and cast his final Transfiguration Spell. During the casting, Ivan faintly heard a notification in his mind that his Transfiguration Spell had leveled up.
The Troll's stupid little brain couldn't understand why there were annoying Iron Thorns on the ground, just as it couldn't understand why the Club it had dropped had suddenly turned into a conical spike standing upright on the ground.
Fortunately, it no longer needed to think about it. The conical spike pierced through its eye and straight into its brain, blood and brain matter spurting out, flowing down the sharp point.
In the final moment of its life, the Troll stared with its remaining eye at the small human in strange clothing standing before it, its eyes filled with endless confusion and a hint of fear.
Ivan stood less than thirty centimeters from the Troll's corpse, lowering his Wand.
Hermione stared at the Troll's corpse in a daze, her face still showing signs of despair and fear. In just a few seconds, the once-menacing Troll had fallen before Ivan.
Ivan breathed lightly, and it was clear that the brief confrontation had left him completely drained.
If not for the delayed effects of the Strong Hypnotic Potion, and the perfectly timed assistance of the Iron Thorns that had already been Transfigured, it would have been nothing short of a fairy tale to think of easily defeating the Troll.
【Ding, Challenge Task: Defeat or Kill the Troll (Completed)
Task Evaluation: Excellent
Task Reward: Bloodline Fusion Potion Recipe (Delivered)】
As the task completion notification sounded as expected, Ivan was about to check the reward issued by the system when he suddenly heard a series of loud and hurried footsteps from behind.
"Oh, my goodness, what on earth is going on here?"
Professor Mcgonagall, who rushed into the corridor first, saw a scene she had never imagined: a corridor strewn with thorn spikes, walls pitted with dents, and a Troll lying in front of Ivan, a large hole in its head.
And the Ivan and Hermione she had been worried about seemed to be in good condition? Apart from some dust on their clothes, they appeared to be unharmed.
Professor Mcgonagall almost thought she was hallucinating, and Snape, who arrived shortly after, was equally incredulous.
Quirrell was even more surprised, momentarily forgetting his disguise. He took large steps to the Troll's corpse and confirmed that it was indeed the Troll he had released.
"Ah, it seems that besides a savior of the magical world this year, we have another genius who has accomplished something even some of our professors can't do."
Snape, who recovered first, looked at Ivan with a blank expression, but his words were dripping with sarcasm.
Quirrell resumed his usual timid demeanor, hunching his back and looking worried. When he heard Snape's words, he only shuddered and had no further reaction, as if Snape wasn't referring to him at all.
Professor Mcgonagall, however, spoke with a burning anger.
"Hals! Can you explain what exactly happened here?"
Despite the presence of Hermione besides Ivan, both Professor Mcgonagall and the others present could tell that Ivan was the one in charge.
After all, the tears in Hermione's eyes had not yet dried, and her face still showed signs of residual fear.
"As you can see, Professor, I just happened to encounter a Troll while passing through this corridor", Ivan said, shrugging his shoulders and looking innocent.
"Just happened?" Professor Mcgonagall didn't believe it for a second.
Snape, looking at the scattered Iron Thorns on the ground, added sarcastically.
"I think our Hals Mr. here might have wanted to be a Hero, otherwise why would he have prepared in advance and just happen to be here?"
Because he hadn't had the time to clean up, Ivan was momentarily at a loss for how to explain.
"Ivan was looking for Hermione, Professor! We can vouch for him!" Harry and Ron emerged from behind a suit of armor in the corridor.
They had actually arrived earlier but had only witnessed Ivan's moment of glory. Other than hiding and mentally shouting "Wow" and "666", they had no chance to contribute.
"Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, I thought you two should be in the Dormitory!" Professor Mcgonagall looked at them disapprovingly.
