Chapter 26: Black Iron (Pseudo)
Chapter 26: Black Iron (Pseudo)
Lu Wu's sudden dash into his room caught the attention of Lu HaiKong and the others.
"Could this kid have actually improved the quality of that little skeleton?" Lu HaiKong wondered, his curiosity piqued.
Lu HaiKong followed Lu Wu into the room, unable to contain his intrigue.
Plumpie's pig had been eyeing the soup Lu Wu was cooking since early morning. As soon as Lu Wu opened the door, the pig rushed in, surprising everyone with its burst of speed despite its short legs and round body.
Plumpie quickly followed her pig inside, not wanting to miss out on the action.
Standing nearby, Li Ruyu saw her son, husband, and Plumpie enter the room. After a moment of hesitation, she too stepped inside, followed by the remaining maid who toddled in with her short legs, making a 'clack-ack' sound.
In an instant, the small room was filled to capacity.
In the center of the room, the pot containing the little skeleton was revealed. The cover on the skeleton's head had been removed, allowing Lu Wu and the others to see the little guy's current appearance.
After all, the little skeleton had undergone a quality upgrade, and its appearance had indeed changed.
The skeleton's frame had grown taller, now standing at around 1.6 meters, compared to its previous height of 1.5 meters.
The color of the skeleton's bones had also changed.
The once pale bones, which looked malnourished and fragile, now had a darker hue, appearing more substantial and robust.
For Lu Wu, the most noticeable change in the little skeleton was its eye flames.
Lu Wu could sense that the skeleton's eye flames were much brighter and more vibrant, and it seemed more lively and aware.
Lu Wu was pleased with this improvement.
The 50,000 yuan Li Kai had lent him seemed well-spent, as the changes were already evident in the skeleton's appearance, even though the extent of its attribute improvements remained unknown.
To further confirm the little skeleton's enhancement, Lu Wu reached out to touch it.
As Lu Wu made contact, someone else also approached, or rather, someone and a pig approached together.
The pig, belonging to Plumpie, had been eyeing the soup longingly. Now, it seized the opportunity to leap into the pot and enjoy the delicious broth.
However, upon reaching the pot, the pig discovered that only a third of the broth remained, with the rest reduced to a layer of residue at the bottom.
The pig couldn't even drink the residue, as it collided with the little skeleton upon jumping into the pot and was caught by it.
Deprived of its desired soup, the pig could only hug the skeleton's frame, licking the remnants of the broth from its bones.
Meanwhile, the person who approached alongside the pig was Lu Wu's father.
Lu Wu gently touched the little skeleton's head, his movements delicate as if wiping fine china. He tapped the skeleton's head with his knuckles, producing a 'knock-knock' sound, like selecting a ripe watermelon.
"How strange, you really managed to make this half-knowledgeable person succeed. This little guy's quality has truly improved, and it's impossible! It's against science!" Lu HaiKong exclaimed, his face filled with disbelief as he tapped the skeleton. He ignored Lu Wu's indifference and sought support from Li Ruyu.
Before long, Lu HaiKong found himself being dragged out of the room by his ear, with Lu Ni, the busybody, also being pulled out. As they left, he made sure to close the door behind them, leaving Lu Wu and Plumpie inside.
Lu Wu was perplexed by their actions. What were his father and mother-in-law thinking? Did they suspect something romantic between him and Plumpie? Lu Wu wasn't in the mood for such thoughts. He grabbed the little skeleton's frame and lifted the pig, handing it back to Plumpie before ushering her out the door.
With everyone gone, Lu Wu finally had the peace and quiet he needed to study the little skeleton after its quality improvement.
He reached out and touched the little guy, and its attributes appeared.
Title: Little Skeleton
Power: 0-Star (Ordinary)
Quality: Black Iron (Inferior) [Improving]
Attribute: Undead
Status: Energetic, but its mind seems a bit dazed, possibly due to a system glitch. You can try to help it reboot by giving it a mental nudge.
Skills: (3 Training Plans)
Weaknesses: Light, Fire, Thunder
Description: There's been a noticeable improvement in quality, and it's not as dull as before. Its basic attributes have slightly improved, but it's still quite mediocre.
Lu Wu felt rather underwhelmed after examining Little Skeleton's attributes.
He wasn't particularly excited, but neither was he overly disappointed, as the outcome was more or less what he had anticipated, with no surprises.
Firstly, regarding quality improvement, the original plans had vanished.
This implied that the previous plans were now ineffective for the current Little Skeleton, and there was no way to further enhance its quality.
Next, in terms of skills, Lu Wu had high hopes for the error-free version of the One-Six-One-Nine-One-Bar book.
He had been eagerly anticipating that as the little guy's quality improved, a few skills would awaken alongside it, but unfortunately, this didn't happen, leaving Lu Wu feeling a bit let down.
"As expected, it's better not to have too many expectations, or else the disappointment can be quite hard to bear," Lu Wu thought as he took some time to adjust his mindset.
Then, focusing on Little Skeleton, he began to ponder.
"This little guy's quality has improved, and half the summer vacation is already over. My first small goal is accomplished, and the first half of my summer plan is almost done. It's time to draft a new plan for the next phase, suitable for the current situation," Lu Wu decided.
"Initially, my summer plan was straightforward.
The first phase was to enhance Little Skeleton's quality, and the second phase was to boost its power, aiming for it to reach the selection level for the elite class by the start of the new school year. But now, there's a slight hitch—the Summoned Beast Breeder Exam."
"I'm torn about whether to shift my focus to the Summoned Beast Breeder Exam. After all, I've been doing well with my summoning, surpassing Li Kai in just a month. With continued effort, passing the exam should be manageable. It's undoubtedly a more accessible path to becoming a Summoned Beast Breeder than the High School League."
"However, the issue with this approach is that it would be challenging to guarantee training Little Skeleton to the elite class level during the remaining summer vacation.
In that case, striving for both goals simultaneously becomes tricky.
Even though passing the exam might not directly affect my chances of getting into the elite class, what about her?"
"I have to take her under my wing! If I pass the Professional Summoner Exam and go to Summoner University, who will guide her?"
As these thoughts raced through Lu Wu's mind, he hesitated for a moment. After a while, with a rare moment of conscience, he made a decision and drafted a new plan for the upcoming phase of the summer vacation.
After all, the Professional Summoned Beast Breeder Exam is next year, so there's no rush. For the rest of the summer, he'll focus on training Little Skeleton and helping Plumpie! Lu Wu spent several hours crafting a comprehensive plan.
Just as Lu Wu finished his plan, his phone rang. Anxious and tearful, Plumpie's voice came through the line, "Lu Wu, come quickly..."
