"By the effect of 'Slash Draw', I draw a card from my deck!"
Xuan Yi drew a card and immediately revealed it.
"I tribute the two 'Doom Flame Tokens' on the field as a tribute summon!"
A storm whipped up, and within it loomed a massive figure. Xuan Yi briefly paused, then grinned with satisfaction.
"Heh, that idiot, Ryuzaki, used to have this card, but he lost it in Duel City! But I'll never let it leave my deck. Behold, a dragon born of light and shadow, dwelling within the heart of an evil knight—I summon the Level 7 Evil Knight Dragon!"
Evil Knight Dragon enters the field. Attack: 2350
You Xuan smiled and assured, "Don't worry, it won't be leaving your deck anytime soon. I'm taking it all." Nonetheless, he feigned surprise for his opponent's benefit.
"It's the Evil Knight Dragon! Ryuzaki's former ace card, a rare card second only to the Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"
Its attack was exactly 50 points less than the Red-Eyes. How was it second to the Red-Eyes?
Xuan Yi's arrogance grew, and he couldn't help but place his hands on his hips. "Be amazed, be terrified, and then bow down before true power!"
"Wow, that's incredible. In response, I activate my face-down card."
You Xuan flipped a card in his spell and trap zone.
"Trap Card: 'Bottomless Trap Hole'! When a monster with an attack of 1500 or more is summoned, destroy it and banish it from play."

He plucked a card from his deck and sent the monster card to the graveyard.
"Now I activate another face-down, a Continuous Trap Card: 'Limit-Reverse'! It lets me special summon a monster with 1000 or less attack from my graveyard in face-up attack position. I revive 'Airball Lizard'!"
Airball Lizard enters the field. Attack: 500
"Then, from my hand, I activate the Magic Card, 'Super Evolution Pill'! By tributing a Reptile-type monster on the field, I can special summon a Dinosaur-type monster from my hand! I tribute 'Airball Lizard'!"
The magic card, Super Evolution Pill, released a golden glow that enveloped the lizard on the field. Under the influence of this magic, the tiny lizard began to evolve rapidly, its body growing at a visible rate until it reached a height of several dozen meters within moments.
"From the depths of time, breaking free from the endless flow of years, descend now! Evolution Summon! Level 8—Super Ancient Dinosaur!!!"

Xuan Yi felt incredibly proud of himself and couldn't resist laughing out loud.

"I activate my face-down Trap Card—Trap of Darkness." You Xuan snapped his fingers nonchalantly. "It can only be activated when my life points are below 3000. By paying 1000 life points, the effect of this card becomes the same as that of a normal trap in the graveyard."

"Of course, I choose that one."
The trap card in his spell and trap zone transformed as data streams flowed over it, taking on a new form.

He didn't seem capable of his usual sunny disposition anymore.
It was all rather bizarre. Clearly, between the two of them, he was the Dark Duelist, the one meant to bring darkness and inflict pain on his opponent.
Yet, halfway through the duel, he realized that the pain was reflecting right back at him.
This was the first time since becoming a Dark Duelist that he felt his opponent was even darker than he was!
In comparison, he suddenly felt that his own darkness was merely superficial, relying solely on mental and physical torture to push his opponents to the brink of collapse.
But his opponent was exceptional. He needed no external power; his darkness seemed innate, ingrained in his very bones. He didn't need any extraordinary abilities; his dueling skills alone were enough to push Xuan Yi to the brink.
The situation compelled Xuan Yi to say, "Buddy, even though I'm a Dark Duelist, I think your dueling style is a bit too dark."
If this guy became a Dark Duelist, what then?
"I set two cards and end my turn," he said glumly.
There was nothing else he could do.
But there was still a chance.

You Xuan pulled a card from his hand, pausing briefly as he glanced to his side.
That ethereal figure floating beside him, shrouded in a robe, maintained its indifferent expression, its pale face giving a slight nod.
Perhaps due to the supernatural connection between master and sprite, You Xuan seemed to understand its unspoken message.
You Xuan nodded gently in response.
"I'm counting on you."
He turned back, refocusing on the duel.
"Sacrificing 'Black Forest Witch,' special summon—
—Silent Magician!"
An ancient magic circle with pale blue patterns, moonlit water, and rippling halos spread out, revealing a slender, chilly figure clad in a white robe, with silver hair cascading like a waterfall, and a staff that shone with a deep, starry radiance.

"It has appeared," You Xuan said.
Xuan Yi eyed the Silent Magician warily, but the latter remained as calm as still water, gazing forward as if unconcerned with Xuan Yi's presence.
"Silent Magician cannot be normal summoned," You Xuan explained. "It can only be special summoned by tributing a Spellcaster-Type monster on my field."
"Additionally," You Xuan continued, "as 'Black Forest Witch' was sent to the graveyard as a tribute, its effect is activated.
When this card is sent to the graveyard, I can add a monster with 1500 or less defense from my deck to my hand."
With the condition of 1500 or less defense, this incredibly powerful search effect once made it a banned card. In the current real-card environment, Black Forest Witch has been nerfed to 'this card's effect cannot be activated the same turn it is sent to the graveyard.' But in this early anime world, such restrictions obviously didn't exist.
However, Xuan Yi merely scoffed, unperturbed.
"Hmph, a monster with 1500 or less defense? Those are all weaklings."
You Xuan: "I add 'Cyber-Stein' to my hand from my deck."
Xuan Yi nearly spat out a mouthful of old blood.
This was one of the aces within Fang Gu City in the anime, the "Android Solger," a new card from the supply pack given by Master Takeuchi. Its defense was just barely 1500, not a single point more or less.
This was the true strength of Black Forest Witch. You would never expect what kind of powerful beings lurked within the card pool with a defense of 1500 and below.
"The effect of 'Candy Clown' from my hand allows me to Special Summon this card in Attack Position on my field."

As one of the aces from Fang Gu City back in the day, the Android was well-known for wreaking havoc. Not many would be unfamiliar with it. However, the Android crossed its arms, and a flash of red light shone in its mechanical eyes, as if to say—
