Chapter 259: Surprise
Chapter 259: Surprise
Luo De had wondered if Mira had prepared some kind of gift or another small surprise.
He hadn't expected such a big surprise.
According to his original plan, besides bringing Lysana back to life, he needed to help Mira overcome her psychological trauma. This required solving two main problems: the state of Elfman and Mira's own willingness.
If Elfman refused to forgive her, Mira would not be able to recover. Conversely, if Elfman could recover, the problem would be greatly alleviated.
Luo De had been pairing up with Mira to complete various related tasks, hoping that the familial bond of mutual care and understanding would help Elfman realize that Lysana would not blame him and that he would always want to protect them.
Although the previous tasks had some effect, Mira seemed to finally realize what she wanted to do and had been quietly supporting her all along.
This realization greatly uplifted Luo De, as it meant that once Elfman recovered, her willingness would not be an issue.
Although the final outcome was somewhat unexpected, Elfman had eventually come around.
Luo De guessed that the sisters' recent visit to the cemetery might have been related to this matter.
But he never imagined that Mira would suddenly give him such a big surprise.
Ugly? What ugliness? Ugly in her swamp form?
Seeing Mira use the reception magic, Luo De was so happy that he didn't know where to put his hands.
It was this reaction that finally made Mira dare to look into his eyes.
They were so bright, so joyful, with no trace of disgust or fear.
The scolding and berating she had endured as a child, the terror and unease, almost drowned in those bright eyes.
“You... won't think I'm disgusting, right? I'm like I've become a different person.”
Mira's words were a bit incoherent, but Luo De roughly understood what she wanted to express.
When he started learning to receive the reception magic, Mira had a similar reaction, the trauma from her childhood, even with the power of time, was not so easily smoothed over.
Luo De extended his left hand, his arm transforming into a magical form, tree-like, frog-like, and crab-like...
“Regardless of how the outside changes, you are still you, and I am still me. You know... you have always been the one I like, and I have always been the one who likes you.”
“Worried that I might dislike you, I thought...” Luo De's heart pounded, and he kept his arm in the wolf-claw state, “How about, let’s try pressing the fleshy pad, see if I can run?”
Mira's eyes welled up with tears, the light making her look translucent. She really reached out, carefully placing her fingertips on the fleshy pad.
Luo De didn't hesitate at all, and he held the demonic hand with his wolf claw.
It felt rough, with the texture like tree bark, the touch was not pleasant, but Luo De held it as if he had grasped the world's most precious treasure.
Mira gently pulled away, but Luo De held on tighter.
She looked at Luo De with hopeful and encouraging eyes, carefully curling her fingers and, in turn, gripping his hand.
Luo De was certain that he would now make her happier than ever before.
He took a step forward, using his empty right hand to draw Mira into his embrace, his left hand still firmly holding her right hand.
Mira's side pressed against his chest, her left hand resting on his shoulder. Their posture was a bit awkward, but at this moment, Luo De could not let go of her hand.
He nuzzled her hair with his cheek, whispering in her ear, “If you worry that I only liked the old you, then I will start liking the new you from now on.”
Luo De's wolf claw returned to its normal form, and he squeezed her demonic hand: “Anyway, now you’re caught by me, and you can’t escape.”
“Mm.” Mira softly responded, her right hand also returning to its normal form. The two of them finally held hands directly.
It was as if they had a silent understanding, their hands intertwining tightly, fingers locked together, gripping each other firmly.
Today’s physical training was bound to be delayed, but it was worth it.
Because their determination to protect each other had grown even stronger, and this resolve would one day become a powerful force.
After an unknown amount of time, Mira gently pushed Luo De’s chest, and he reluctantly let her go.
Mira stepped back two paces, her hands behind her back: “Remember what you just said.”
“Of course.” Luo De observed her actions and guessed, “Are you going to show me the complete form of Satan’s Soul?”
“This might really scare you.” Mira thought for a moment and added, “It’s not just about the appearance.”
“If I get scared, then...” Luo De hadn’t decided what to do, “You decide.”
“This is what you said.” Mira took a few more steps back, winking playfully, then became serious.
The next second, magic surged around her, and it seemed as if a fierce wind was blowing, making her skirt and hair flutter. Even Luo De couldn’t help but step back.
“This is...” Luo De, though somewhat prepared, was still shocked by the terrifying magic Mira could unleash in an instant.
The sheer power of her magic alone was enough to make his heart race!
A flash of light, and Mira’s transformation was complete. Her white hair stood tall like flames, swaying in the wind.
A black pattern ran from her temple across her right eye, down her cheek to her jaw. Her lips seemed to be painted with deep red lipstick.
Her usual red dress had transformed into a rather daring outfit, complete with a pair of black demon wings on her back and a black tail trailing behind her.
Not only had her appearance changed, but her aura had also completely transformed.
Just a moment ago, she was a gentle beauty with a charming smile, but now she had become a cold and aloof femme fatale.
No, a femme fatale wasn’t enough to describe her; she was more like a queen.
Luo De saw Mira move her foot, perhaps her wings flapped as well, and in an instant, she was right in front of him.
Mira hovered in the air, slightly above Luo De, looking down at him with a commanding presence.
The terrifying magic and cold gaze made Luo De’s breath catch, almost unable to believe this was Mira.
Just as he realized this, he felt his chin being pinched, and Mira’s face, so different from her usual self, drew closer.
Luo De found his heart racing again, a bit hopeful that she might be more daring.
However, Mira didn’t make any further moves, her tone harsh and cold: “Were you afraid just now?”
Luo De ignored her cold tone, holding the hand that pinched his chin, and said helplessly:
“I lost. The sudden burst of magic was too scary, and that action was quite embarrassing.”
Mira returned to her normal state, her feet touching the ground. She let him continue holding her hand, a satisfied smile on her face: “Hmph, get ready for your punishment.”
Showing her strong side to the person she liked and seeing his shocked reaction felt great.
Now she could protect him.
“Alright, alright, what’s my punishment?” Luo De’s feelings were a bit mixed.
He had thought that once Mira recovered, he could relax a bit and maybe even enjoy some pampering.
But thinking about the scene where she pinched his chin...
If he didn’t work hard, he might end up being the weaker one in the relationship.
This wouldn’t do!
