Chapter 259: Magejerry (Second Update)
Chapter 259: Magejerry (Second Update)
Boom!
The particle sphere exploded into his own shadow, blasting out a dark, shadowy figure.
The dark figure seemed caught off guard by the attack. After being blasted out, it appeared momentarily stunned but quickly recovered and darted into the shadow of the school building, vanishing without a trace.
"Could that be the Clow Card—Shadow!"
Seeing the dark figure escape through the shadow, Jerry immediately thought of the Shadow Clow Card.
"Repair!"
Hearing footsteps approaching, Jerry quickly used the Reparo spell to mend the damaged wall and vanished from the spot with a Shadow Step.
"Magic that can manipulate shadows—this is something I haven't encountered before."
Walking through the school corridor, Jerry recalled the Shadow Clow Card that he had just scared away.
Among the three types of Magic systems he had studied, none included techniques for manipulating shadows for attacks. However, he felt that this type of Magic was quite practical.
The main advantage was its stealth; it was very difficult to detect, and the attack style reminded him of Shikamaru's Shadow Imitation Jutsu.
Especially against purely physical fighters, it was incredibly effective because physical attacks couldn't harm shadows.
"I really want to give the Clow Cards a thorough check-up!"
"Jerry, your bento was delicious. Here's your bento box!"
Back in the classroom, Yukito returned Jerry's clean bento box.
"If you like it, I'll bring more next time!"
Jerry smiled.
He felt it was important to build good relationships with Yukito and Toya. After all, in this world, there was Eriol Hiiragizawa, who had inherited Clow Reed's memories and magic power.
Only by becoming friends with everyone could he have more friendly exchanges and learn Magic.
And he thought this wasn't too difficult; bringing more delicious food every day could easily increase Yukito's goodwill.
Like today's bento.
Winning over Toya was also quite simple.
"Jerry, have you decided which club you want to join?"
After school, while riding on the same road, Yukito asked curiously.
Jerry had originally planned to follow Toya to see where Sakura lived, but he found that the three of them were heading in the same direction, so they decided to go together.
"Are there any clubs at the school?"
In China, clubs usually start in college, but in Japan, they seem to have various interest clubs starting in middle and high school.
Yukito thought for a moment and replied:
"There are a lot. The bigger ones include the Soccer Club, Kendo Club, and Archery Club. Smaller ones include the Sss Club, Sos Club, Half-Price Club, Body Modification Club, Neighborhood Club, and the Summer Association of Eastern Magic and Daytime Naps."
The names of the smaller clubs sounded a bit strange, but they also seemed somewhat familiar.
"Never mind, I'm not really interested in joining a club!"
He would rather spend that time studying Magic.
"I'm here. See you tomorrow, Toya, Jerry!"
Yukito waved and stopped in front of a large yard filled with beautiful flowers.
"See you tomorrow!"
Jerry and Toya waved back.
Speaking of which, Yukito, who is the moon's incarnation, seems quite wealthy; that large yard doesn't come cheap.
"Toya, I feel like you might have some misunderstanding about me?"
After Yukito left, only Jerry and Toya were left, and the atmosphere immediately turned icy.
Toya turned his head to look at Jerry, his voice filled with suspicion and accusation:
"Who are you really? What's your purpose in getting close to Yukito?"
Toya, due to his innate magic power and the abilities inherited from Clow Reed, had already seen Yukito's true form the first time they met.
So, he suspected that Jerry, who possessed powerful magic and was exceptionally mysterious, might have transferred to their class with the intention of targeting the gentle and kind Yukito.
"Purpose? Toya-kun, rest assured, I have no ulterior motives towards Yukito-kun. You two are very well-suited, and I wish you both the best."
Jerry paused for a moment before quickly replied with a serious expression.
"Stop, stop, stop! That's not what I meant!"
Upon hearing Jerry's explanation, Toya's usually cool and composed face turned bright red, and his speech became less fluent.
Jerry, seeing this, burst into laughter:
"Just a joke, a joke, Toya-kun! Don't get so worked up."
"That's not a very funny joke!"
Toya's mouth twitched.
"Alright, Toya-kun, you really don't need to overthink it. I have no ill intentions towards you or Yukito-kun.
To be honest, I am a Mage. I came to this town because I heard there are extremely powerful Mages here, and I wanted to exchange knowledge and learn more about Magic!"
Jerry calmly provided his answer.
He wasn't lying to Toya. He had indeed come here to exchange and learn Magic, and he harbored no ill will towards anyone in town.
Hearing Jerry's answer, Toya's heart, which had been on edge, finally relaxed.
His innate perception was particularly strong, and he could clearly sense the sincerity in Jerry's words. Jerry was likely telling the truth, at least that he had no ill intentions towards them.
"Toya-kun, it seems you've arrived home!"
Jerry glanced to the side and saw Sakura's figure in the second-story window of a small house nearby.
Thanks to Jerry's reminder, Toya snapped out of his thoughts and abruptly stopped his bicycle.
"See you tomorrow, Toya-kun!"
After ensuring no one else was around, Jerry picked up his bicycle and used a Phantom Shift to vanish from the spot.
"He really is a Mage!"
Seeing Jerry and the bicycle suddenly disappear, Toya was startled.
Although he possessed powerful magic and some special abilities, he had never systematically studied Magic. Therefore, he couldn't casually cast various spells like a regular Mage.
In fact, this was the first time he had encountered a true Mage who could use Magic.
"Huh, it's that close?"
When Jerry used Phantom Shift to return to his small house's courtyard, he realized he hadn't moved very far. Through the iron gate, he could still see Toya standing on the opposite side of the road, still in a daze.
It turned out that the house he bought was right across the street from Sakura's house.
"Better not show myself now!"
After parking his bicycle in the courtyard, Jerry crouched down and quickly slipped inside the house.
Despite the impressive teleportation, ending up just across the street would be quite embarrassing if anyone noticed.
His carefully crafted image of a mysterious Mage would crumble instantly!
However, living close by had its advantages. At least he could detect when Sakura went out at night to capture the Clow Cards.
