Chapter 258: Remember to Go to Bed Early
Chapter 258: Remember to Go to Bed Early
The Straw Golem's form was just a physical manifestation created by the dark creature named Fidelius.
Its true form was actually a shapeless mass of black substance!
After the inferno curse completely burned its body, it reverted to its original state and quickly dashed toward the entrance of the Room of Requirement.
It wanted to escape!
But Professor Mcgonagall and the others, who had been prepared, would not give it that chance.
"Expecto Patronum!" *4.
A doe, a mole, a bright silver tabby cat, and a platypus-shaped Patronus reappeared in the space. They moved much faster than the black mass and immediately blocked its path at the entrance of the Room of Requirement. Then, each Patronus grabbed a corner and stretched it out, pulling the black mass like a piece of dough.
Silke, who had been waiting for this moment, wasted no time. She pulled four small square boxes from her pocket and, under the control of a spell, combined them into a single unit that covered the flattened black mass.
All the darkness around them vanished as if sucked into a drain.
Fidelius's body was divided into four parts and sealed away by Silke, greatly reducing its ability to resist.
Although their ultimate goal was achieved, the situation was far from over.
The inferno curse, which had completely incinerated the remaining physical form of the Straw Golem, began to spread across the floor of the Room of Requirement. It showed no sign of stopping, as if it intended to consume the entire room!
This scenario was something Sherlock and the others had anticipated when they formulated their backup plan. The Wrathfire Curse was essentially uncontrollable.
However, unlike the Unforgivable Curses, which had no counter-curse, this dark magic did have a counter-curse. It just required a very complex and intricate spell to control it.
As the inferno curse continued to expand, Professor Mcgonagall and the four headmasters raised their wands. Sherlock and Silke did the same.
The silver Patronus Charm had already dissipated, but at this moment, the tips of their six wands glowed with a vivid ice-blue light.
They surrounded the inferno curse, exchanged a glance, and then simultaneously slammed their wands into the ground!
"Counter-curse supreme!"
A blue circle formed between the six wands, and a deep blue flame rose, trapping the orange fire in the center!
The blue flame steadily compressed the burning area of the yellow flame, quickly reducing it to the size of a campfire.
The inferno curse, as if possessing its own consciousness, grew furious. It transformed into various fierce beasts like snakes, wolves, tigers, and leopards, attempting to break free from the blue prison.
But ultimately, it could only diminish with each failed and desperate attempt. Soon, it shrank back to the size of a small flame and was finally extinguished.
The Room of Requirement fell silent again, with only the heavy breathing of Sherlock and the others clearly audible.
Before they arrived, they had all thought that everything would be resolved smoothly. But once all the threats were eliminated, they all felt as if they had experienced a different world.
The professors exchanged glances, and Sherlock suddenly burst into laughter.
"In the end, when we extinguished the inferno curse, its pained and struggling appearance made me feel like I was the one who had abandoned a lover."
His words triggered laughter among the surrounding professors.
Even the usually stern Professor Mcgonagall couldn't help but smile, though she maintained a serious tone.
"Curses like the Wrathfire Curse are inherently designed to devour their masters. We did nothing wrong."
"Alright, I get it, Professor Mcgonagall. But we're not in class right now, and we're not discussing transfiguration."
Sherlock waved his hand dismissively.
The atmosphere lightened, and even Silke, who was holding the four wooden boxes containing the Fidelius, managed a slight smile.
Together, they walked out of the Room of Requirement. Professor Mcgonagall and the others mentioned that they were already quite tired from staying up late, so they parted ways on the eighth floor and returned to their respective bedrooms.
Sherlock and Silke, however, did not part ways just yet. They continued to Sherlock's office together.
Along the way, Silke had deliberately composed herself, maintaining her usual stern expression when facing Sherlock.
Sherlock, of course, knew she was intentionally giving him the cold shoulder, signaling that she was still angry. As the elder and the gentleman, he naturally had to take the initiative to smooth things over.
"It's my fault, I'm guilty. Beautiful and kind Vera, can you please forgive me? I promise to be better."
Silke had been reminding herself not to let Sherlock's insincere apologies fool her. But despite her resolve, she couldn't help but smile at his playful demeanor. Realizing she couldn't let him off so easily, she quickly regained her stern expression.
"I'm cold, expressionless, blind, and can't even speak properly. I'm not cute at all."
Sherlock raised an eyebrow.
"Nonsense! You mustn't talk about yourself like that. The more you say it, the cuter you seem."
Silke's fair cheeks turned slightly red.
"Have you said this to many other girls?"
Sherlock looked genuinely surprised.
"Do I have that many nieces to appease?"
"..."
Silke, who had been struggling to maintain her composure, now gave up. She bit her lip in frustration, as if she wanted to scold Sherlock but couldn't find the right words. In the end, she simply bit down on his arm!
"Ah! You really bit me! It hurts, hurts, hurts! Let go! I'm sorry! I'm really, really sorry! Let go!!!"
Sherlock's cries were dramatic, which made Silke, who had bitten down hard, feel a bit guilty. She finally released his arm.
In truth, she didn't have much strength, and her bite didn't hurt Sherlock much. He had exaggerated his reaction to help Silke vent her anger.
Her anger had indeed subsided, but it flared up again. Silke's face remained cold as she placed the four wooden boxes containing the Fidelius on Sherlock's desk and left the office without a word.
Sherlock watched her go, rubbing his arm while reminding her,
"Remember to get some sleep."
