Chapter 257: Brothers (13)
Chapter 257: Brothers (13)
Besides the paper containing information about the Xingzu Clan, Feng Bu Jue found no other valuable items in Ā Sè's bedroom despite searching thoroughly twice.
He left the room disgruntled and headed to the bathroom.
The second-floor bathroom was twice the size of the first-floor toilet. Above the sink stood a small cabinet—a white wooden one frequently seen in horror films, positioned slightly higher than eye level. Its door had a mirror, typically hiding razors, toothpaste, cups, and common medicines...
In countless horror movies, characters brush teeth, shave, or comb hair in front of such cabinets. Then, with a sudden creak of the door, a terrifying face appears in the mirror, amplified by shrieking sound effects. This trope never fails to scare.
Unfortunately, this scenario had no mirror.
Feng Bu Jue approached the sink, eyeing the cabinet door dented inward by about a centimeter. He sighed, "They actually ripped the mirror off... Not even leaving a single shard."
Opening the cabinet, he found all shelves empty except the bottom one, where a single key lay lonely.
[Name: White Key]
[Type: Plot-Related]
[Quality: Common]
[Function: Permanently unlocks the white iron door, disappears immediately after use]
[Can Be Taken Out of Scenario]
[Background: Hidden in a white place]
"Red, blue, black, and white keys accounted for... Now only yellow and gray remain", Feng Bu Jue muttered. His gaze drifted toward the toilet.
"Better check the tank", he said, striding to the toilet. Confirming nothing but clean water inside, he lifted the tank lid. Something indeed lay hidden within.
[Name: Soaked Blanket]
[Type: Plot-Related]
[Quality: Common]
[Function: Unknown]
[Can Be Taken Out of Scenario: Yes]
[Background: Stuffed into a strange place for unknown reasons]
This small blanket, roughly the size of four or five towels spread out, had a mottled color and coarse texture. Soaked, it felt oddly slippery.
"This makes the fifth meaningless story item I can take out of the scenario", Feng Bu Jue said, wringing the blanket dry before stuffing it into his satchel. "Except for the false tooth with its plot-related hint, the soap, perfume, leather hat, and now this blanket—all useless. Could this scenario's gimmick be having too many puzzle pieces?"
After securing the item, he walked to the bathtub by the wall. A pale blue curtain hung around it, revealing only a quarter of the tub from his angle.
"Alright, let's guess what's inside: A) A naked beauty, B) A naked key, or C) A naked corpse", Feng Bu Jue quipped. "Empty or full of trash would be too boring."
He pulled the curtain, revealing something deeply unsettling—a horrifying sight.
"This must be a renzhi", Feng Bu Jue frowned.
Inside lay a synthetic human torso, amputated at limbs, ears gangrenous with pus oozing, eyes sewn shut, mouth half-open without a tongue. Unaware of being watched, it breathed faintly, chest rising and falling.
Without hesitation, Feng Bu Jue took out [Prozbynna's Vacuum] and began draining the monster's blood.
This equipment's special effect: Absorbs monster's vitality value at 0.5% per second, transferring it to the player. Ineffective against deceased, formless, mechanical, or boss-class monsters. The vacuum stores no vitality—absorption is immediate. If the player's vitality is full, no recovery occurs.
The process caused no pain—merely draining the monster's vitality until death. Feng Bu Jue considered it a win-win: the creature gained release without knowing, while he recovered health.
Three minutes later, the synthetic died, and Feng Bu Jue's vitality replenished.
He clasped his hands, murmuring, "Amitabha Buddha, so be it", before using a pipe wrench to slit the torso open, scavenging its remains.
An atheist muttering prayers while dissecting a non-human corpse for loot—if other players saw this, they'd likely flee in terror.
"Found it in such a place..." Feng Bu Jue finally retrieved the yellow key from the intestines. Using the wrench to rinse it at the sink, he placed it in his satchel, then moved it to his pocket two seconds later. Though theoretically clean, he handled it only with gloves.
[Name: Yellow Key]
[Type: Plot-Related]
[Quality: Common]
[Function: Permanently unlocks the yellow iron door, disappears immediately after use]
[Can Be Taken Out of Scenario]
[Background: Hidden where shit lies, as expected]
Feng Bu Jue ignored the mocking background description. The text practically sneered at him.
Now needing only the gray key to complete the set of six, he could return to the Basement Level 1F. He quickened his pace, brushing off dirt from his clothes before entering the last explorable room on the second floor.
This room lay directly above the empty first-floor room. As Feng Bu Jue pushed the door open, he glimpsed a bright red, large transmutation circle on the floor.
Before he could react, his body froze. This time, he hadn't even used an iron bar to check for danger or stepped inside—just opening the door triggered a CG sequence.
