Chapter 256: The Mediator and the Perceiver
Chapter 256: The Mediator and the Perceiver
"Nanya!"
Lindsey was in conversation with Platinum Palace.
Just then, Ethan, from the School of Warfare, could no longer hold back.
When Lindsey had been observing the situation above, he had already clenched his fists, and now he rushed forward, grabbing Lindsey's sleeve, his lips trembling as he pleaded:
"Nanya, let Nanya go."
"..."
"Ah Hui?!"
Platinum Palace and Omar were both puzzled.
Even the Mediator, Platinum Palace, was about to reprimand Ethan for his attitude, as Lindsey was their lifesaver, and such an action was too reckless.
But Lindsey shook his head slightly at Platinum Palace.
He gave a slightly regretful look and then took out the bodies he had collected.
Several corpses were laid out before them.
Ethan saw the corpse of the girl named Nanya and immediately rushed over, hugging her tightly with his one arm.
Seeing this scene.
Platinum Palace also understood what Lindsey and the others had done.
He solemnly bent his knees, his right hand resting on his chest over his heart, and slightly lowered his face:
"Mr. Lindsey, I am truly grateful."
Lindsey waved his hand dismissively:
"If these corpses were left there, they might have been revived by the living dead. Even the doctrine of the School of Death does not allow me to do such a thing."
After stating his attitude, Lindsey asked a question that he was very concerned about:
"By the way, Mr. Platinum Palace. Since you came from the Forest Courtyard, you must have found a passage that could lead to this location, right?"
This question was crucial, and Lindsey's gaze was as calm as water, obviously making his intentions clear to the other party.
However, Platinum Palace shook his head with a bitter smile:
"When we came in, there was a way, but now... I'm afraid it's gone."
Lindsey guessed:
"That passage was controlled by the living dead?"
Platinum Palace's tone became even more bitter:
"These living dead seem to not want their secret to be exposed. So they blew up the entire passage. We tried our best to escape here and hide in this ancient city, but we didn't expect them to find us again so soon."
At this point, Platinum Palace looked upwards.
His gaze seemed to penetrate through the walls of the cave.
This city, sealed within the glacier, had indeed opened Platinum Palace's eyes, but unfortunately, the environment was not ideal:
"Who would have thought that in a world near the border, beneath a Black Mountain, an ancient city would be buried. And the residents of this city, in the dark and enclosed underground, happened to transform into living dead, and formed such a powerful force?"
In Platinum Palace's sigh.
Lindsey glanced at Hong, who was standing beside him, unnoticed.
Lindsey knew the origins of Hong and the reasons for the Revivers' appearance, of course, without any issues.
But to tell others...
Lindsey's gaze became determined, and he made a decision in an instant.
However, before giving a true answer, there was one more thing he had to do.
Lindsey quietly performed a product identification on Platinum Palace in front of him. After confirming that he was purely human and that his Mediator identity was valid, he concealed part of the truth.
But he revealed his true intentions for his actions:
"On my journey to Black Mountain, I also gathered some clues. These living dead, beneath the Dragon Beast's lair, are deliberately hiding themselves because both sides are in conflict."
"I think starting from this point, we might be able to find a way to trigger a fight between them."
Platinum Palace clearly didn't believe that Lindsey's plan would succeed.
But he didn't outright deny it either; instead, he expressed his opinion indirectly:
"The Dragon Beast has reached the seventh stage. If these living dead don't have the corresponding combat power, they simply aren't a match for him.
"And here's the thing, Mr. Lindsey. How did you transport these bodies here? Are you a merchant? Is that your private warehouse?" Platinum Palace suddenly changed the topic.
"If we could use the merchant's trade network, perhaps we could find a way to get the information..."
Lindsey shook his head, interrupting Platinum Palace, "I'm sorry, that's my special ability, it has nothing to do with a merchant's skills."
"I don't have any special means to contact the outside world."
"..."
Lindsey's response left Platinum Palace's expression somewhat dim.
Just as the atmosphere was cooling down, the Perceiver, Omar, who had been silent at the back, suddenly joined the conversation.
He persuaded the Mediator in front of him, "Platinum Palace, we've run out of options."
"Perhaps trusting Mr. Lindsey's plan is also a choice. Even if we can't deal with the Dragon Beast, we can create certain conditions to try and escape from here."
Platinum Palace was taken aback by his companion's statement.
But thinking of his companion's abilities, he finally nodded.
Lindsey discerned Platinum Palace's thoughts.
Upon realizing that his thoughts differed from the others, the Mediator immediately aligned himself with his companions and even proactively shared the Perceiver's powerful reconnaissance abilities.
If they were to take action together.
This statement was a way to gain as much control as possible.
His honest attitude wouldn't cause resentment during the negotiation.
Lindsey neither agreed nor disagreed; his choice was to turn the topic into concrete action.
Lindsey walked over to Ethan, who was holding a body, and offered a few words of comfort.
These bodies couldn't be left here; otherwise, their only fate would be to be reawakened by the Revivers.
Once again, he collected the bodies of the deceased.
Lindsey took out the Meteor Hammer and led the way into the depths of the cave, "We have some clues here."
"These zombies seem to be preparing some kind of means to target the Dragon Beast, and it's right here in the city."
"It's best if we can find it now..."
Lindsey's figure disappeared into the darkness.
Hong followed without hesitation.
"..."
Three human Awakeners from the Forest Court remained in place.
After a brief exchange of glances, they tacitly accepted Lindsey's actions and leadership, following him into the depths of the cave.
