Chapter 254: Reminder
Chapter 254: Reminder
Chen Chuan stared at the contorted face, his eyes remaining calm. At this moment, the free hand of each combatant clashed fiercely.
Chen Chuan unleashed his strength without hesitation, but Wu Bei was more cautious. He needed to suppress the spinning blade while exerting force to counter Chen Chuan's attack, turning his initial advantage into a disadvantage.
With their clash, a circle of gray dust and air waves erupted beneath their feet, causing both figures to sink slightly.
Before the aftermath of the collision had dissipated, Wu Bei released his abdominal muscles, using this force to sink and twist, while his hand holding the blade pulled it outward. Allowing the blade to slice through half of his abdomen and slide out, he remained composed and retreated to one side, freeing himself from restraint.
Although a large gash was created, as soon as it left, the wound's altered tissue quickly writhed, closing the gash, and blood flowed out briefly before stopping.
Upon reaching the third limit, the fighter's brain had altered to a certain extent, enabling him to accelerate the growth of his body's altered tissue, swiftly closing wounds and healing injuries. Given enough time, he could completely restore himself to his previous state.
Chen Chuan had sensed this during Wu Bei's attempt to break free, but Wu Bei's sudden movement was too fast, undoubtedly employing another explosive technique.
Especially, the timing was extremely precise, perfectly coinciding with the moment when Chen Chuan unleashed his full strength, using this opportunity to dodge. Even if they repeated this, it would be difficult to restrain him, given the unexpected nature of his evasion.
Thinking he could escape, it wasn't that easy! The existence of the second self allowed him to withstand the force channeled into his body by the opponent. Therefore, he wasn't stopped in his tracks, and at this moment, he twisted his wrist, swiftly twisting the blade towards the front. His body shifted sideways, both hands gripping the handle, and his legs stepped forward and backward, propelling him in a fierce lunge towards Wu Bei's throat!
Wu Bei's pupils contracted sharply. This retreat, which was supposed to allow him to back away before Chen Chuan's next attack, was once again a misjudgment. Now, the direction of his force was unchangeable.
Seeing the blade almost reaching his throat, he suddenly inhaled, and the altered tissue in his body pulled, causing his body to lean back, avoiding the stab and flipping backward.
This exertion of force caused the previously closed wound to rupture again, and blood flowed from his waist down to his ankles. His expression remained unchanged, and after his feet touched the ground, his body lowered, assuming a posture to charge forward again.
Chen Chuan brandished his sword, took a slight step back, and created some distance.
Wu Bei braced himself on the ground, his body half-crouched, and his gaze towards Chen Chuan was filled with astonishment. He noticed many incomprehensible things on Chen Chuan's body, but the more he observed, the more he was perplexed by Chen Chuan's head.
Wu Bei narrowed his eyes and, without waiting for Chen Chuan to approach, suddenly ran towards the latter's side. Chen Chuan's gaze followed him, and his body moved accordingly.
Just then, a tearing sound filled the air, along with the constant blowing wind and the force of Wu Bei's running, eventually lifting the advertisement poster, creating a barrier between them. This caused Wu Bei's movements to momentarily halt.
In that instant, Wu Bei rolled, grabbing a key originally hanging on a broken wall panel.
It was an antique-style key, with a wide handle and a long shaft, made of an unknown material. He tightly grasped the key's handle.
With a swishing sound, the advertisement was torn by the sword's edge, and the blade slashed towards his head. This time, Wu Bei didn't retreat but instead met the attack head-on. With a loud clang, he managed to block the sword's strike using the key.
Unfazed, Chen Chuan continued his assault, slashing repeatedly with his sword, unleashing over a dozen strikes. Wu Bei, however, stood his ground, using the key's shaft and teeth to block and deflect the incoming sword slashes, keeping them at bay.
The key's material was unknown, even the Snow Lady Sword couldn't cut through it. Moreover, Wu Bei skillfully utilized his exceptional force to coordinate his entire body's strength, precisely blocking each strike without a single mistake. The continuous clanging sounds created an almost continuous line of collisions.
Chen Chuan fixed his gaze on Wu Bei, whose defensive maneuvers displayed remarkable overall coordination. The finger's force alone couldn't withstand the sword's power; it had to be the altered tissue coordinating the body's strength.
This opponent's vision, judgment, coordination, and force application were far superior to any Chen Chuan had encountered before. Neither Tan Wang nor Luo Qi could have withstood such a barrage of strikes without moving.
Chen Chuan knew Wu Bei was waiting for an opening in his attacks, and with his skills, he could exploit the moment Chen Chuan's breath slipped to launch a sudden advance.
If this was the case, it was time to employ the Furnace Breathing Method.
Since he was facing a third-limit fighter, Chen Chuan had ingested a potential-stimulating drug before arriving.
This was a precaution in case things went awry, as Wu Bei's strength exceeded his imagination. With this, he could retreat promptly, but as the battle progressed, he had gained an understanding of Wu Bei's capabilities and no longer needed to hold back.
At this moment, Chen Chuan utilized his altered tissue to maintain the momentum of his Jinli Dao technique, simultaneously taking a deep breath, causing his body to suddenly heat up.
This unusual phenomenon immediately caught Mr. Wu's attention, and instead of staying put, he swiftly retreated. But just as he took half a step back, the ground in front of him seemed to explode, and a figure burst forward, accompanied by a flash of sword light.
Mr. Wu's eyes widened in surprise as the speed of the sword suddenly increased significantly. His altered brain tissue desperately stimulated his body, enhancing his physical functions.
Just as the sword light was about to strike his body, the key in his hand finally reached the right position in time.
However, the Furnace Breathing Method's activation not only increased Chen Chuan's speed but also enhanced his strength far beyond what it was before. The key, which could have deflected the attack, was only able to block half of it due to insufficient force, and with a 'Zing,' half of the key was sliced off. The sword light flashed again, and a second strike swiftly followed.
Mr. Wu's eyes bulged, and the veins on his neck popped out as he was forced to stimulate his altered tissue once more to counter the sword strike with the remaining half of the key.
Chen Chuan swung his sword, and his technique was not much different from before. However, with the increased speed and strength, even the simplest moves could not be easily blocked as before.
After a few exchanges, Mr. Wu began to struggle, unable to clearly discern the trajectory of the sword light. He relied solely on his skills and experience to parry the attacks.
He was forced to retreat, and the two figures kept flashing and moving. Wherever they went, the ground erupted with mud pits, and the grass was sent flying by their movements. As they kept moving, they gradually left the hill and descended into the ruins below.
This was a conscious choice by Mr. Wu, as each block required the use of explosive techniques, constantly stimulating his altered tissue, which significantly increased his burden. Not only did his brain feel swollen, but the wound at his waist also reopened, forcing him to think of ways to use the terrain to hinder his opponent.
Finally, he retreated into the ruins of a collapsed house, and with a casual pat, a large piece of broken concrete wall flew towards Chen Chuan. In the next moment, the concrete wall exploded, and the scattered debris flew back.
Mr. Wu tried to dodge, but something felt off. He quickly turned his head, and a pebble grazed his cheek. Although he dodged, this pause slowed his reaction, and he felt a lightness on his shoulder as his arm was severed. Seeing the flash of sword light again, he quickly shifted the key outward.
With a 'Zing,' the Snow Lady Sword cut through half of Mr. Wu's neck, but due to the key's obstruction, it couldn't completely sever his head in one go.
Chen Chuan looked over and saw Mr. Wu also gazing at him, but unlike before, his eyes no longer held that fierce expression. Instead, they had returned to their previous gentle and serene state, as if he had found some sort of relief.
Mr. Wu slowly said, "Thank you for your guidance, Mr. Chen."
Chen Chuan grasped the sword handle with both hands and, with a swift spin, severed the remaining half of Mr. Wu's neck with a 'Zing.' Mr. Wu's head flew off, rolling a few times on the ground before coming to a stop. His body stood for a moment before collapsing to one side.
Chen Chuan exhaled a long breath, and a white mist rose from his mouth. As he turned to leave, he heard a voice from behind.
"Student Chen..."
Chen Chuan turned around and saw that it was Mr. Wu's head speaking, using his altered tissue to manipulate his vocal cords to produce a raspy and strange sound.
Chen Chuan knew that at this limit, life force was robust, and the brain was not yet dead. He stopped and asked, "Mr. Wu, is there anything else you want to say?"
Mr. Wu's mouth moved as his altered tissue pulled it, and he said, "Student Chen, I'm sorry. I did some wrong things before, and this is the end I deserve. All my belongings are at Liuyu Street No. 47, and the password is..."
He recited a string of passwords and continued, "Next to the generator in my house, there's a large can of algae oil. You can burn me and the house together; that way, there won't be any traces left. Be careful of Yuan Bin's technique and be careful of Ling..." His voice trailed off, and then silence ensued.
Chen Chuan paused for a moment, opened the Boundary Vessel, and asked, "Brother Wu, did he send out any messages before?"
Wu Bei hurriedly replied, "He seemed to be drafting a message, and I was going to intercept it, but in the end, he seemed to have canceled it himself."
Chen Chuan looked at the head and said, "I understand, thank you, Brother Wu." He walked over, picked up the head, and said, "Mr. Wu, you're going home." Then, he headed back towards the two-story building.
