Chapter 253: The Special Crop Cultivation Plan
Chapter 253: The Special Crop Cultivation Plan
Snowy Valley.
Naoki and his Mega Abomasnow's first stop brought them to this serene location.
The icy stream babbled as it meandered through the snowy landscape, carving a path through the quiet valley. Naoki squatted beside an empty plot of land, digging a handful of soil with a shovel and scrutinizing its difference from the soil on his ranch.
"It feels hard, probably due to the freezing environment. It's stiff and lacking the softness of the soil back at the ranch."
Naoki sniffed the soil and then placed a bit on his tongue. "Hmm, it tastes like ordinary dirt, but with a strong icy energy."
Sensing the icy breath emanating from his mouth and nose, Naoki spat out the soil and rinsed his mouth with mineral water, pondering,
"This land seems to possess more icy energy than I imagined. I wonder if that's the reason for the mutation."
The abundant icy energy had likely induced the ordinary radish seeds to mutate, infusing the radishes with this energy and turning them snowy white.
Mega Abomasnow, standing beside him, inquired, "Have you discovered anything?"
Naoki nodded, sharing his hypothesis, "...I'm thinking, if we were to infuse a large amount of icy energy into the soil elsewhere, would it cause the radishes to mutate and turn white?"
Mega Abomasnow, not fully understanding, offered her support nonetheless. "When I ride on Blizzardy, I can use my spiritual power to condense the icy aura around it. We can try infusing the earth with icy energy together."
"Mhm." Naoki nodded in agreement.
Blizzardy, uninterested in their conversation, remained focused on the land before him. Impatient for Naoki to plant the white radishes, Blizzardy pawed at the ground and exhaled two streams of white breath from his nostrils.
Seeing this, Mega Abomasnow sighed, "My beloved steed has been like this for a long time."
Naoki smiled and took out several packets of radish seeds from his backpack. Together with Golurk, they planted the seeds in the empty plot.
As the last seed was sown, Mega Abomasnow floated to the edge of the field and activated her ability.
Instantly, the entire crop field was engulfed in a tide of blue light. When the light faded, the field was filled with white radishes.
Blizzardy neighed excitedly, trotting over to the field and lowering his head to feast on the icy radishes.
Spiritomb, witnessing this from the sidelines, felt a twinge of envy in his eyes.
Naoki approached the white radishes, plucked one from the ground, and examined it thoughtfully.
The radish was snowy white, resembling the wintry landscape. To the touch, it felt cool and refreshing.
Naoki took a bite and discovered that the radish flesh was also icy, creating a unique sensory experience. As he had suspected, the radish carried traces of icy energy.
This discovery further validated his earlier conjecture.
However, more experiments were needed.
Only after Blizzardy had devoured every last radish in the field did Naoki and Mega Abomasnow mount Spiritomb and Golurk, heading toward their next destination—the Ancient Cemetery.
Not all of Crown Snowfield was a frigid wasteland. To the south lay a vast expanse of wilderness, teeming with greenery, trees, lakes, hills, and caves.
At 3 p.m., they traversed the snowy plains and entered this diverse landscape.
Standing atop a hill and gazing toward the distant south, Naoki could make out an enormous tree, at least 15 meters tall.
Further south lay another wilderness, home to a colossal tree with pale red fruits.
Reiganwang's gaze also turned towards the tree.
"That giant tree has been there for a very long time. The fruit it bears nourishes the Pokemon of this land. In the past, powerful Pokemon were also drawn to it and rested upon its branches."
Upon hearing this, Naoki's heart stirred.
Could the powerful Pokemon that Reiganwang mentioned be the Galarian forms of the three legendary birds?
He recalled that in the game, Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos had all visited this very tree.
Additionally, there were other legendary Pokemon as well.
Beasts such as Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regigigas, and Regidrago had also made their way here.
They continued on their way, and before long, they arrived at an ancient stone ruin.
Gazing upon the ancient site, Reiganwang spoke softly, "Here lies a sleeping giant Pokemon from ancient times. It has slumbered here since time immemorial, and the people of old referred to this place as the Giant's Rest."
A sleeping giant Pokemon...
Could she be referring to Regirock? Naoki wondered.
His curiosity piqued, Naoki asked, "May I enter the ruins and take a look at them?"
Reiganwang considered this carefully before replying, "I advise against it. The five giant Pokemon have always guarded this land, sleeping here. If you were to disturb their slumber abruptly, you might incite their wrath, which could endanger the Pokemon nearby."
"I see." Naoki nodded, abandoning the idea of exploring the five pillars.
"We've arrived," Reiganwang announced, gesturing forward. "Ahead lies the land capable of growing the black carrots."
Naoki looked up and saw a deserted field nestled between the ancient graves.
Broken tombstones surrounded the field, exuding an ominous aura that suggested the place was haunted.
Naoki mused that this must be an ancient burial ground for humans from the distant past.
He silently apologized for the intrusion and then proceeded forward with his Pokemon companions.
Reiganwang looked at the land before them and asked, "Do you wish to continue with the tasting?"
Naoki shook his head without hesitation. "...I think I'll pass. Humans can't perceive the aura of Ghost-type energy."
Reiganwang nodded, understanding. "In that case, how do you plan to investigate?"
Naoki took out the remaining carrot seeds from his backpack. "Let's first try planting these seeds to see if this land can grow black carrots."
"I understand," Reiganwang replied.
Once Naoki and Golurk had finished planting all the seeds, Reiganwang floated forward and activated her ability.
In an instant, the pure black soil sprouted purple-black carrots, their color a bizarre sight.
Naoki turned to Spectrier and said, "Eat up!"
Spectrier glanced at him, snorted, and then calmly strode forward. It lowered its neck gracefully and began to eat the black carrots growing in the field.
Its dining manners were a stark contrast to Blizzardy's; from start to finish, it ate slowly and gracefully, appearing to savor every bite.
Naoki looked from Blizzardy to Spectrier, contemplating.
Now, a difficult decision loomed—which Pokemon should he ride at next year's Pokemon Racing Tournament?
Blizzardy left a trail of ice wherever he went, and his strength and destructive power were unparalleled. However, his temperament was aggressive and proud, and he was quick to fight.
On the other hand, Spectrier was calm and collected, preferring not to interfere with other creatures. Its feet seemed to tread on a purple mist, giving it an elegant and noble air.
Naoki was torn. This was a challenging choice indeed!
