Chapter 253: If I'm Going to Screw Someone, Let the Sea Kings Swallow Me Whole
Chapter 253: If I’m Going to Screw Someone, Let the Sea Kings Swallow Me Whole
"Ah-choo!"
Sazil, who was currently being pummeled by Klah—or rather, enduring training—sneezed suddenly. Distracted for a moment, he barely had time to react before Klah kicked him square in the face. Sazil flew backward, spinning midair before skidding across the ground with a loud scrape.
"Too sloppy!"
Klah adjusted his glasses and said, "You’re getting worse, Kuro. At this rate, how do you expect to become Navy?"
To be honest, I think someone like me could easily become Navy. At the very least, I’m way better than those Lieutenant Ensigns and whatever.
"Kuro, you’re trash. You need more training!" Klah declared.
Sazil opened his mouth, struggling to his feet with visible effort. His eyes now burned with a flicker of anger. Klah noticed this subtle shift in expression and grinned with interest.
Thinking about rebelling?
Even better!
Sazil stretched his limbs and spoke slowly, "Mr. Klah, if you keep talking down to me, I really will get angry."
"Oh? And what will you do if you’re angry?" Klah asked, practically bouncing with anticipation.
Sazil paused, then said, "You know, Mr. Klah, people’s physical constitutions are different. When I get angry..."
"Hmm?" Klah dropped into a fighting stance, ready for an attack.
"I just keep getting angrier."
With that, Sazil stood motionless, exactly as he had during the "training" session earlier.
"And then?" Klah’s glasses reflected a question mark.
"That’s all."
Yeah, right.
What good would getting angry do?
He couldn’t even beat this guy in front of him. This four-eyes was already strong, had eaten a Devil Fruit, and was even a Zoan-type—rumor had it an ancient Zoan type rivaling mythical beasts. Even if he somehow beat his human form, there was still the beast-man form. And even if he overcame that, there was still the full beast form.
Even if he was pushed to his limits and forced into a rage...
He couldn’t win. He simply couldn’t.
Right now, he was just waiting for the "Gramps" Kuro had mentioned—Admiral Lucius Kro—to arrive. Then, as an unofficial Navy recruit, he’d request immediate transfer to Navy Headquarters for proper training, finally escaping this hell.
Only then could he plot his revenge.
He’d figured it out—this place was just about getting beaten up. Luckily, only three people did that: Mr. Klah, Miss Lida, and Mr. Kuro, who occasionally showed up to test his "Nails Fist Technique."
Nails Fist Technique...
Just thinking about it gave Sazil chest pains.
There were limits to how much someone should be bullied.
Over at the beach, Kuro suddenly glanced in Sazil’s direction as if sensing something.
"Kuro, are you really planning to train that Sazil?" Lida asked.
They’d been training the kid for some time now. Lida sometimes dropped by to "relieve stress"—or rather, to train him too.
But she never considered Sazil one of them.
"After all, he’s a Kuro too, and his innate talent is decent. Better to make him Navy than let him become a pirate. Bringing in someone who can stop pirates is better than letting another menace run wild."
With proper training, Sazil could easily reach Commander status under standard criteria.
More importantly, he shared the name "Kuro." In certain situations, that could be useful.
Need to cover up some shady business? Just throw the blame on him.
"What? You’re thinking about screwing someone again, aren’t you?" Lida asked, seeing the gleam in Kuro’s eyes.
"You’re imagining things. I, Kuro, never screw people over." Kuro said solemnly.
"I’d believe someone else saying that, but you..."
Lida gave him a skeptical look. "That’s up for debate."
Kuro smacked her head lightly. "Why are you suddenly so distrustful? When have I ever screwed someone? Sometimes things just happen by coincidence. I’m Navy, after all. I have a conscience. If I ever intentionally screwed someone, may the Sea Kings come and swallow an arm whole!"
As he spoke, the golden earring dangling from his ear caught the sunlight, reflecting dazzling rays that nearly blinded Lida.
"Ugh, Kuro, that thing’s too bright. Stop shaking it around", Lida said, shielding her eyes.
"This thing?" Kuro touched his earring, which had been replaced once before without telling Lida.
The original was the one Lida had picked out, but this new one had been acquired in Mariejois after his battle with Kaido.
It seemed higher quality than before—but also far more flashy.
Boom!!!
As Kuro adjusted his earring, the sea surface suddenly roared to life, forming a massive whirlpool.
"Huh?"
Kuro turned, his expression shifting. "What the heck is going on?"
"It’s the Grand Line. A whirlpool’s pretty normal, right?" Lida said.
"You fake-idiot or real-idiot? This is different!" Kuro rolled his eyes.
The whirlpool expanded rapidly, revealing a massive shadow emerging from its depths. The sea’s surface darkened as if the entire Grand Line had turned black.
"Wait... seriously?"
Kuro stiffened, his face twisting in disbelief. "I was just joking! You really don’t have to go this far!"
Boom!!!
The whirlpool exploded, unleashing a towering tsunami that surged skyward, then scattered in all directions like a storm of raindrops pelting the entire island.
Through the downpour, two massive glowing orbs pierced the mist. Moments later, the entire creature revealed itself.
"Big. Big. Big! So freaking big!"
Lida’s eyes nearly popped out of her skull as she stared at the colossal beast before them.
A Sea King.
Its mouth alone was as large as the island. Its eyes were the size of small islands themselves.
A lanternfish!
A lanternfish bigger than the island itself!
"Kuro, you said you’d never screw anyone over, but even the gods heard you!" Lida screamed, pointing accusingly at Kuro.
"Less talking, more fighting! This thing’s no pushover!" Kuro snapped back, wiping sweat from his brow as he gripped the hilt of Autumn Waterhilt.
Sea Kings!
And not just any Sea King—a monster massive enough to swallow islands whole!
The threat level was through the roof. Kuro wasn’t scared, but the people on this island certainly were.
His subordinates. The island’s residents. Everyone was here.
"Ahhh!!!"
The lanternfish opened its mouth. No roar followed, but the vibrations from its throat sent shockwaves rippling through the ocean currents. The entire Moe Island trembled as seawater funneled into the beast’s gaping maw.
"It’s trying to suck the whole island in!" Lida shouted.
"I know!"
Kuro clenched the hilt tightly, golden lightning crackling across his blade as his scabbard pulsed with energy.
"Slash Wave!"
A single slash. An instantaneous strike.
A massive golden arc charged forward, crackling with electricity. The slash struck the lanternfish’s mouth, tearing through skin and flesh. The highest-grade Haki surged through the wound, reducing the surrounding tissue to a bloody pulp.
