Chapter 252: 'The True Navy'
Chapter 252 'The True Navy'
"That's quite ruthless."
The Transponder Snail chuckled mockingly, "Accusing me of being a scavenger? I consider you my dear partner. Now that you've occupied Moe Island, considering its strategic location, have you finally lost patience? I have many things you desire - Weapon-grade cannons, intelligence networks. How about cooperating?"
"Did your brain get scrambled by toys? What the hell are you talking about."
Kuro replied dryly, "How did you find my communication channel."
"I have my ways."
Donquixote Doflamingo laughed, "You don't have to admit it. If you change your mind, you can always find me. Actually, I called to give you a warning. The Moe Island you're on will be ambushed by a large fleet. Be prepared, or else... If Moe Island gets destroyed, you'll lose face too."
The call ended abruptly.
Kuro raised his eyebrows. What did Donquixote Doflamingo mean by this call?
A large fleet would ambush here?
How did this bird find out?
And why inform him?
"Can the Seven Warlords of the Sea be this considerate?" Lida asked curiously.
"What compassion could pirates have, especially this one. He only wants chaos."
Kuro sat up, lit a cigar, and slowly exhaled smoke.
"Could this fleet belong to him? Impossible. If it were, he wouldn't tell me."
"The person called 'Heavenly Yaksha'—I heard his name when I was young. He's extremely troublesome. If it's his fleet, why would he warn you? You'd definitely suffer. Could it be he's trying to avoid offending you by personally delivering intelligence?"
Lida nodded.
"Right. That troublesome fellow wouldn't do something like this."
Kuro rubbed his chin, deep in thought. Finally, he said, "Well, better safe than sorry. If a large fleet really attacks, we must be extra cautious. If their firepower is strong, the island town might be destroyed."
Gramps will soon start patrolling, which sends a clear message—Headquarters will back us. If casualties occur on our watch, Headquarters will lose face.
Besides, he had assured the residents with his Navy Honor that nothing would happen to them.
"We must take this seriously!" Kuro declared firmly. "If a fleet comes, we must be fully prepared!"
Seeing Kuro's serious expression, Lida raised an eyebrow, "Fully prepared? How do you plan to do that?"
"A large fleet that made Joker personally warn us must be formidable. Our goal is to prevent a single bullet or cannonball from landing on the town. Even one stray bullet could panic the unsettled residents."
"The best solution is to sink them into the Grand Line."
Kuro clenched his Fist determinedly, "From now on, we enter full alert mode. Eliminate any suspicious individuals immediately—wherever you find them. Sink them in the Grand Line if it's on the beach, flush them down the toilet if it's in the restroom. Leave no opportunity for the enemy."
This statement made Lida feel a faint sorrow.
Not for Kuro, but for that fleet—if it truly comes, they probably won't want to come here.
This tone doesn't sound fake.
Though he wouldn't handle it personally, this attitude shows that any pirates coming now won't have the same easy time as before.
Recently, if pirates managed to escape, Kuro would let them go without pursuit.
But with Kuro's current tone, those pirates won't have it easy anymore.
...
Elmos was assembling his fleet, struggling to understand why Doflamingo dared not provoke the Navy. For this, he specially investigated the Navy force currently claiming to establish a Marine Base at Moe Island.
Of course, he didn't do it himself—too busy.
This task was delegated to his subordinates.
That day, he gave his subordinate explicit instructions.
"Joker, that idiot, won't go? Then I'll do it myself. Check out that fool Kuro in Moe Island—find out his background."
The subordinate, a trusted aide to Elmos, diligently worked to resolve his lord's concerns. He would definitely investigate the correct Kuro, not Lucius Kro.
That man—anyone who watched the live broadcast would remember him. He's a well-known Navy figure, especially to those following this war.
He didn't think his master Elmos would specially investigate Lucius Kro. Presenting his information would only anger his lord.
His master is a renowned underworld figure.
The title 'Frog Merchant' isn't just a nickname. He naturally knows about current famous figures.
The 'White Ghost' Smoker, 'Black Binding' Tina, and the emerging Sengoku—he knows them all.
How could he not know Lucius Kro?
So it must be someone else.
After thorough investigation, he found another person.
Sazil·Kuro.
An obscure nobody currently training at Moe Island with the Navy, not even officially enlisted yet.
Initially, he thought he might have the wrong information.
But soon, he uncovered crucial intelligence!
The instructor training Sazil·Kuro was an extremely powerful old pirate who once sailed with Whitebeard, Beast King, and Big Mom!
This pirate seemed to possess some secret!
He passed this intelligence to Elmos. Of course, following his master's instructions, he didn't specify the surname.
After all, his master is so intelligent—he must understand the meaning behind the report.
"Someone who sailed with Whitebeard, Beast King, and Big Mom trained this Kuro?"
Elmos studied the report, then dialed a number.
"Joker, I know who Kuro really is. His mentor had connections with old pirates from the peak era—he was a crew member of 'Rocks'! Are you afraid of his connections?"
A pause on the other end, then laughter, "Kshhhkshhkshh, you can see for yourself. Correct—you could say that old man was his mentor, since he inherited everything from him."
"Just that?" Elmos doubted, "Even if he's not ready to become a true Navy yet, even if he becomes one, would he really scare you?"
"Kshhhkshhkshh, 'true Navy'—if he becomes one, it'll be troublesome. You should be glad he isn't."
"I see. I understand."
Elmos hung up, finally relaxed. He looked at the Transponder Snail, his lips curling into a sinister grin, "Joker, you're too cowardly. Just a 'traitor' trained by an old pirate to become a Navy? You dare not go, so I'll do it myself!"
---
Sorry, just got back. Here's a makeup update.
Let me address the title issue first—I've explained this in the previous chapter, but I can't help it. I might possibly arrange some major recommendations later. The 'Pirate of...' prefix got blocked, so I had to change it.
As for updates, you understand.
Also, my condition hasn't been good lately—some of you might have noticed.
I admit I wasn't thorough enough in the previous updates. I stubbornly insisted on going against you, but experience proves going against the crowd never ends well.
I'm reflecting on this. Please Lords point out some shortcomings—I'll strive to correct them.
I originally considered leaving it as is, but after careful consideration, since I've already written it, I might as well write it better.
However, past revisions can't be changed anymore. For later content, I'll consider revising based on Lords' suggestions.
One Piece, my sincere thanks.
