Chapter 252: Snatching from the Tiger's Mouth?
Chapter 252: Snatching from the Tiger's Mouth?
"Are all of these Tier 5 Beasts?" Jiang Cheng's breathing quickened as he asked.
The acquisition price for a single Tier 5 Beast ranged from two to three hundred thousand. With ten of them, the total would be nearly three million, the most he had ever earned in one go.
Even with a fifty-fifty split, he would still get one million and five hundred thousand.
"Hmm!" Nightingale nodded excitedly.
"These are Black Mane Pigs. They usually travel in herds. Their fur is an excellent material for crafting Tier 2 Runes, and their tough hair can also be used to make weapons. The two fangs in their mouths are valuable, although they don't compare to the Tier 6 Beast we just encountered. Still..."
"Still what?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Well, these beasts can be quite fierce. If they feel threatened, they'll charge at the nearest enemy. They're incredibly fast; at a distance of around 150 meters like now, they could reach us in just four or five seconds."
Jiang Cheng smiled. "So, if they charge, they'll be within my attack range, right?"
"Yes, my current attack distance is 50 meters, and I can easily take care of a few Tier 5 Beasts in an instant." Nightingale nodded in agreement.
"Then there's nothing to worry about." Jiang Cheng said as he raised his gun and aimed at the largest Black Mane Pig.
He pulled the trigger.
In the instant the gun fired, a fist-sized blood hole appeared in the abdomen of the largest Black Mane Pig, proving its Tier 5 status. If it had been a Tier 3 Beast like the Horned Sheep, the blood hole would have been the size of a large bowl.
The injured Black Mane Pig let out a shrill cry and fell to the ground with a thud, its body convulsing and emitting pitiful wails.
The remaining nine Black Mane Pigs immediately became aware of Jiang Cheng and Nightingale's presence.
One by one, they charged towards them.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Jiang Cheng kept moving the gun's muzzle.
With each pull of the trigger, a Black Mane Pig was shot and fell to the ground.
The remaining few Black Mane Pigs finally felt fear and skidded to a halt, turning to flee.
But it was too late.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Three more gunshots rang out.
Nightingale didn't even have a chance to act before the last three Black Mane Pigs fell into the blood-soaked ground.
Their vitality was indeed tenacious; the first Black Mane Pig that had been shot was still struggling to breathe its last.
"I thought I'd have a chance to show my skills this time." Nightingale felt a bit disappointed.
She had thought they would get within 50 meters, but instead...
"I actually prefer this outcome. Hopefully, you won't need to get involved in the next few days." Jiang Cheng said with a smile.
"Indeed." Nightingale understood.
She looked outside at the fallen Black Mane Pigs, feeling a sense of unreality.
Even without the full three million, the ten Black Mane Pigs were worth over two million.
Was it really that easy?
Of course, if the ten Black Mane Pigs had been within her attack range, she could have taken them all down without leaving a single one alive. However, the beasts weren't stupid; they would run if they sensed something approaching.
But now, there was another problem. The trunk space was limited, so how could they transport ten Black Mane Pigs? And if they left them here, would someone discover them?
In the next moment, her face turned grim.
Jiang Cheng's expression mirrored hers.
Three off-road vehicles were approaching from the front, two of them pickup trucks with a crucial difference—their backs were open, without the usual iron sheets.
Moreover, on the roofs of both pickup trucks, a heavy machine gun was mounted, and behind each gun stood a gunman.
Following the pickup trucks was a modified truck with a cargo area over 3 meters long and 2 meters high.
The vehicles slowly approached and stopped in front of the first Black Mane Pig that had been shot, the one with the largest blood hole.
The truck doors opened, and five or six men carrying sniper rifles and machine guns stepped out.
Standing atop the pickup truck, two individuals wielding heavy machine guns aimed their weapons at the target below.
Jiang Cheng took a deep breath.
The last thing he wanted to happen was about to unfold.
"Let's go talk to them. If they don't comply, we'll take them out," he said.
"Yeah," Nightingale responded.
A murderous intent flashed in Nightingale's eyes.
Despite the enemy's numerical advantage and superior firepower, she was no longer the same person she was two months ago.
More importantly, as long as the distance between them was within fifty meters, she could turn the tables and take the initiative, eliminating the group in the shortest time possible.
Of course, unless absolutely necessary, she didn't want to take lives. But judging by the actions of the people before her, they weren't the benevolent type; otherwise, they wouldn't have stopped.
The two individuals opened the truck's door and walked towards the group.
The men in the distance were startled by their approach.
They hadn't expected the two of them to have such audacity.
"Brother Jun, they're coming this way. Should we just shoot them and take them out?" asked the machine gunner in one of the pickup trucks.
"No rush. Let's see what they're up to," replied the man known as Brother Jun with a grin.
With their numbers on display, did they also have the courage to face them?
The distance between the two sides gradually narrowed.
With several guns aimed at him, Jiang Cheng's heart raced.
But on the one hand, he trusted Nightingale by his side. If the group intended any harm, their bullets would be intercepted, and he didn't have to worry about his own shots being blocked.
On the other hand, he was now a Tier 6 Force Knight. The enemy's strongest firepower consisted of two heavy machine guns mounted on the pickup trucks, barely stronger than his own high-caliber sniper rifle.
These heavy machine guns were slightly more powerful than his sniper rifle, but as long as vital areas weren't targeted, there wouldn't be an issue.
The distance between the two sides slowly diminished, from 150 meters to 100 meters, then 80 meters, 50 meters, and even closer!
"Halt!"
A shout came from the other side, "Any closer, and we'll open fire!"
The two exchanged a glance and stopped in their tracks. Jiang Cheng spoke up, "Gentlemen, the black mane pigs below are the ones I shot. Not just this one, but all of them."
Upon hearing this, the men on the other side shared a smile.
So what?
These black mane pigs were worth a small fortune, a few million at least.
Not only did Jiang Cheng and his companion face a group of them, but even with four or five people, they intended to claim a share of the spoils.
"You're hilarious," Chen Jun burst into laughter. "You shot them, and now you're giving them. I was going to claim credit for tracking them for several kilometers. Brothers, isn't that right?"
The men around him immediately chimed in, agreeing.
"So, you're determined to take our prey, huh? Let's see if they'll listen to you."
Jiang Cheng's tone turned cold.
The actions of the group were not unexpected, and the moment they appeared, he had anticipated this outcome.
"Your prey? Kid, why don't you ask them yourself? See if they'll agree with you," Chen Jun sneered.
Jiang Cheng scoffed as well.
They were talking about a small fortune here, millions!
"Scram, or I'll pretend this never happened."
"Brother Jun, that kid has some skills with a gun. If we let them go..." one of the men whispered.
"Oh, and before we go, leave the gun," Chen Jun realized, his eyes narrowing.
Indeed, their marksmanship was impressive.
If they were to ambush from the shadows, it would be a real headache.
So, rather than letting them go, he decided it was better to finish them off. After all, they had come to his doorstep.
