Chapter 252: Duel of Blood Magic
Chapter 252: Duel of Blood Magic
"Patronus!" Ivan raised his Wand, and a white mist formed a special shield in front of him.
The rolling black fog crashed down like waves, but Ivan, standing in the middle of the corridor, remained as solid as a rock, unmoved by the impact.
Accompanied by a sharp hiss, a blinding white light sliced through the darkness, and a proud and ethereal Unicorn rose from the mist, creating a large hole in the black fog and charging straight at Tom Riddle.
"I didn't expect you to choose to fuse with the blood of a Unicorn." Tom Riddle frowned, sensing that Ivan's Patronus subtly countered his Blood Magic.
Tom Riddle did not dare to be careless. He raised his Wand, and a strange black light shot out from its tip.
The Shadow of the Unicorn was unaffected, and the black light passed through it, leaving a trail of transparent white smoke.
Seeing this, Tom Riddle became even more cautious. He did not believe that Ivan Hals would waste his efforts; the Patronus must have some other purpose.
In less than a second, before the white light reached him, Tom Riddle had already devised a countermeasure.
Since the Patronus could affect his Blood Magic, the reverse could also be true!
Tom Riddle's right hand clenched, and the black fog in the sky suddenly condensed into a several-meter-long serpent, which bit down on the Unicorn.
The black fog and white light began to dissolve each other. The Unicorn let out a series of hisses, and the black fog serpent, more resilient than the "black sea", coiled around it, binding it tightly.
Fortunately, Ivan had never placed all his hopes on the Shadow of the Unicorn.
Taking advantage of the struggle between the two ethereal beasts, Ivan continued to close the distance.
They were now less than ten meters apart!
Tom Riddle did not understand why this young Wizard was so determined to get closer, but the more the enemy wanted, the less he would allow it!
"Avada Kedavra!" Tom Riddle cast the Killing Curse.
A green light flashed!
Ivan rolled with difficulty, narrowly avoiding it. He swept his Wand across the ground, and large pieces of debris began to transform, turning into birds that flew forward.
Tom Riddle waved his Wand, and the flock of birds exploded into meat, red blood raining down from the sky.
They were now five meters apart.
This was not the optimal distance for an attack, but Ivan could not wait any longer. Tom Riddle would not give him another chance to get closer.
"Sectumsempra!" Ivan shouted.
An invisible blade of Magic Power sliced through the air.
Although Sectumsempra could not be seen with the naked eye, the sense of danger that surged in his heart made Tom Riddle realize that Ivan had released that special magic again.
Tom Riddle's face twisted into a dismissive smile. Last time, he had been caught off guard by Ivan, which led to his injury. This time, the power of Sectumsempra was much weaker.
He raised his hand to cast a spell, but in the next moment, his body froze. Ivan's black eyes had somehow turned into orange-yellow snake eyes!
In that moment of eye contact, Tom Riddle immediately thought of the Basilisk's eyes!
How could this be? Ivan Hals' Patronus was clearly a Unicorn; he should have fused with the blood of a Unicorn.
Before Tom Riddle could think it through, all his thoughts and attention were captured by those eyes, and his body gradually became stiff.
At that moment, Sectumsempra slashed across Tom Riddle's chest once again, tearing a large hole in his body made of black mist, revealing the black Diary buried deep within.
Meanwhile, Ivan was also in a dire state. He clearly felt his Magic Power being continuously drained, with an average of ten units of Magic Power level being consumed every second.
In contrast, although Tom Riddle was influenced by the snake's eyes, the Petrification process was abnormally slow due to his current state between life and death and his past fusion with snake blood.
Ivan struggled to activate the Fiendfyre Ring, and terrifying flames surged from the tip of his Wand, condensing into a fist-sized fireball that rushed toward Tom Riddle, who was just three meters away and still unable to move. The large hole in his chest slowly closed, but not fast enough to keep up with the approaching Fiendfyre.
Two meters!
Ravenclaw's Diadem on Tom Riddle's head flashed with a hint of light, the deep blue gemstones faintly radiating Magic Power.
One meter!
The motionless Tom Riddle suddenly raised his hand stiffly, the green light of the Killing Curse glowing.
"Avada Kedavra!"
Ivan had not anticipated this. By the time he realized it, the blinding green light was already right in front of him.
Fortunately, a lightning-fast white figure materialized in front of him, intercepting the Killing Curse. The Unicorn then shattered into wisps of white mist and disappeared into the air.
The blue light representing the Shadow of the Unicorn in the System bar dimmed.
Ivan had no time to pay attention to the System's notification. He quickly waved his Wand, and Tom Riddle did the same.
Two destructive spells collided in mid-air, the intense shockwave forcing both of them, who were very close, to fly backward.
"Cough, cough", Ivan stood up from the pile of rubble, his heart sinking to the bottom.
He had gone to great lengths to create a few seconds of opportunity to destroy the Horcrux with Fiendfyre.
But he hadn't expected that, while he had managed to restrict Tom Riddle's consciousness, another Horcrux had taken control of Tom's body, ruining his plan.
Ivan felt a sense of despair.
Now, his Magic Power was down to less than twenty percent, and he could no longer use the Fiendfyre Ring. Even the Blood Magic, the Shadow of the Unicorn, was in cooldown after blocking the Killing Curse.
Ivan saw no possibility of defeating his opponent.
On the other side, Tom Riddle's form became much more ethereal, and his face twisted into a grotesque, elongated, unfamiliar visage before reverting to its original form in the next moment.
Ravenclaw's Diadem faintly glowed.
Tom Riddle's mouth moved silently, muttering something to himself. The two Horcruxes seemed to be arguing, and his face kept changing.
"Reducto!" Ivan tested with an attack.
Tom Riddle deflected it with a flick of his wrist. The two Horcruxes instantly reached some kind of agreement, and a face with two expressions looked at Ivan.
