Chapter 251: The Escalating Battle
Chapter 251: The Escalating Battle
At the same moment, Ivan also waved his Wand.
"Thunder Blast!"
The Black Fog Ghost Face collided with the orange fireball, producing a massive boom that echoed through the silent Chamber of Secrets. The Pools on either side rippled, and the Green Stone Tiles on the ground exploded.
The shockwave forced Ivan to retreat several steps.
Tom Riddle remained unmoved, standing steadily in place. His Wand flicked, and Ivan, who had just regained his footing, felt a gust of wind from the side.
Ivan instinctively dropped to the ground and rolled backward a few times. Looking back, he saw that the spot where he had stood was now a large hole, the hard tiles torn away.
One of the Stone Serpent Statues that had been guarding the sides had come to life, its thick body coiling and lunging toward Ivan.
Ivan's mind was on high alert. The living serpent was right in front of him, its menacing mouth open, ready to swallow him whole.
"Sectumsempra!" Ivan did not hesitate to use his strongest Spell.
With the enhancement of the Enhancement Runes, a massive invisible blade sliced through the serpent's mouth, cleanly cutting the giant snake in half. The emerald snake body instantly reverted to gray stone, crashing into the Pools on either side, sending up huge splashes of water.
After slicing through the serpent, the Sectumsempra Spell did not stop. It moved at an extraordinary speed toward Tom Riddle, who stood further back.
Tom Riddle's face changed dramatically, completely unprepared for Ivan's terrifying Spell. The Magic Barriers he had laboriously constructed were almost instantly breached. He barely managed to avoid the blade cutting through his head, but the Magic Blade still struck his body!
Tom Riddle let out a painful cry. A long, thin wound appeared from his left shoulder to his right leg, almost splitting his body in two.
"Shattering Curse!"
As Ivan's voice rang out, another Spell struck Tom Riddle, sending his body flying like a wisp of willow, crashing into the pile of rocks behind him.
"Breath, breath", Ivan panted heavily. Although he had only cast a few Spells, he had exerted all his strength.
Ivan took a few steps forward, intending to finish off Tom Riddle, but was surprised to see him rise from the pile of rocks.
Tom Riddle no longer had the noble air he had before. A large hole had been blasted in his body, and the wound from Sectumsempra remained.
Strangely, despite his injuries, Tom Riddle did not bleed a drop. The large hole in his chest was filled with Black Fog, and a Black Diary could be seen lying in the position of his heart.
In just a couple of seconds, the large hole in Tom Riddle's chest slowly began to heal, or rather, the Black Fog was reconstituting his body.
Ivan's heart sank. He had used a quarter of his Magic Power, but it seemed that it had not been enough to deal a fatal blow.
"So you haven't truly resurrected!" Ivan said with certainty.
Although Ivan did not know the exact state Tom Riddle was in, it was clear that ordinary attacks would not be effective. The Black Diary in his chest was the true weak point!
It made sense. If Voldemort could be so easily resurrected, his main soul would not have been constantly seeking the Philosopher's Stone, nor would he have gone to great lengths to create a complicated resurrection plan after failing, simply by absorbing the life force of a few people.
"You really have surpassed my expectations once again", Tom Riddle's body seemed to become more ethereal.
He caressed the wound that had been cut by Sectumsempra, looking deeply at Ivan. He spoke each word clearly. "Of course, I haven't resurrected yet, but it's only a matter of time!"
"Are you sure about that?" Ivan said mockingly. "I think it's better if you don't come back. After all, you can't even defeat a second-year Wizard like me. Do you still have the nerve to call yourself the Dark Lord?"
"You damn brat!"
Tom Riddle's face turned ugly. He extended his Wand, and scorching Fiendfyre rose into the air, transforming into various shapes and surging forward with a wave of intense heat.
Ivan pointed his right hand, and a large serpent statue came to life, blocking in front of him and swallowing the Fiendfyre into its mouth.
In the next moment, fierce Fiendfyre burned from inside the serpent, causing it to roll violently on the corridor. Ivan's expression changed, and with a wave of his Wand, the serpent plunged into a deep pool of water.
Seeing the pool bubbling with steam, Ivan realized the Fiendfyre had not been extinguished. He immediately acted again.
Petrification Curse! Disarming Charm! Splitting Curse!
Three Spells were cast in quick succession. Ivan had pushed his abilities to the limit, the effects of the trial card having activated the moment the battle began.
Tom Riddle, who had nearly been cut in half earlier, no longer dared to be overconfident. He became increasingly cautious, casting several Spells on himself. Then, with a flick of his Wand, a barrage of Spells sent human-sized rocks flying through the air with a sharp whistling sound.
Countless Spell beams flashed continuously in the dim Chamber of Secrets, the giant serpent statues on either side becoming the perfect aids for both of them. They collided and shattered in the duel of transfiguration.
Ivan's Magic Power had already been drained by nearly half, and he couldn't help but feel anxious. Tom Riddle was very cautious, always keeping a distance and not giving him any chance to get close.
The special nature of the Horcrux made it difficult to destroy. Ivan had only one more use of the Fiendfyre Ring and the Basilisk fang he carried with him that could be effective.
Using either of these required a suitable opportunity, as Tom Riddle was no stationary target standing still for him to burn.
He needed to create an opportunity before his Magic Power was depleted!
"What's wrong? Is that all you've got?" After a series of probes, Tom Riddle gradually gauged Ivan's strength. He discovered that Ivan couldn't casually cast Spells of that level and sneered, continuing.
"What about your Blood Magic? You learned the method of bloodline fusion from me. Don't tell me you haven't had the courage to try it in all this time."
"Since that's the case, I'll go first!" Tom Riddle's lips curled into a sinister smile. A large mass of black fog continuously poured out of his body, like a black tide, crashing down from the sky!
Fear, despair, pain—various negative emotions filled the dim Chamber of Secrets, and the temperature seemed to drop significantly.
Ivan struggled to drive these negative emotions from his mind. He finally understood what the black fog summoned by Voldemort, who had possessed Kino last year, was. It was the Blood Magic the other party possessed!
