Chapter 250: The Regal Majesty of the Crown Shrine
Chapter 250: The Regal Majesty of the Crown Shrine
The Regal Majesty sat atop Blizzaroth, its hands tightly holding the reins. In a moment of resonance, Blizzaroth reared up on its hind legs, neighing loudly as a radiant light enveloped them. The massive crown on Regal Majesty's head emitted a green aura, and the king's cloak transformed into a pristine white, rustling majestically like ice and snow.
After a brief moment, everything returned to calm.
Regal Majesty, holding the reins with one hand, gazed down at Naoki with a stern yet benevolent expression. A surge of powerful energy emanated from its being, indicating that the once-ruler of Galar had regained its strength.
"Naoki, would you accompany me to the Crown Shrine?" Regal Majesty asked in a deep, resonant voice.
Hearing this, Naoki was taken aback for a moment before immediately understanding the Pokemon's intention.
Now that Regal Majesty had regained its power, it was going to the Crown Shrine to retame Spectral Rider Calyrex!
Without hesitation, Naoki nodded, "Of course!"
A slight curve lifted the corners of Regal Majesty's mouth, revealing a hint of a smile. "Then follow me."
With that, it turned its mount.
"Ice! Neigh!"
Blizzaroth reared up proudly, letting out an enthusiastic neigh. Then, with great strides, it galloped through the deep snow toward the distant shrine.
"So cool!" Naoki thought.
He quickly mounted his own Galarian Rapidash and urged it forward. "Let's go!"
"Agasigh!" Galarian Rapidash understood, and as soon as Naoki was settled, it leaped high and pursued Regal Majesty across the snowy plains.
Snowflakes began to drift gently from the sky once more.
Galarian Rapidash soon caught up with Blizzaroth, and Naoki rode alongside Regal Majesty.
Regal Majesty turned its head slightly to meet Naoki's gaze, and the two nodded to each other before urging their Pokemon to increase their speed.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the northern mountains of the Crown Tundra.
Looming before them was the Crown Shrine, standing tall amidst the pale, frozen landscape.
This ancient shrine was a long-abandoned ruin, surrounded by crumbling walls and littered with broken fragments of its former glory.
It was a massive, ancient, and awe-inspiring structure. Even in its dilapidated state, one could imagine the grandeur and holiness it once exuded.
Yet, at this moment, it was a desolate and deserted wasteland.
Blizzaroth exhaled twin streams of white breath, its galloping hooves slowing as it came to a halt before the shrine.
Regal Majesty, seated atop its mount, lifted its head to gaze upon the Crown Shrine. "This was my home long ago," it said softly. "Here, I spent much time with my beloved steed. Humans would often come to offer me gifts in gratitude."
Naoki nodded silently, understanding the Pokemon's previous train of thought.
Regal Majesty, upon awakening from its slumber, had lost its power and was distressed by the departure of its two beloved horses. It believed that humans had forgotten about it, and this brought it great sadness. To avoid reminiscing about the past, Regal Majesty had been deliberately avoiding the Crown Shrine, wandering across the Crown Tundra.
"Was it running away?" Naoki wondered.
Regal Majesty turned its head, looking back at Naoki. "Spectral Rider Calyrex, like Blizzaroth, was once defeated by me. They will not approach anything they perceive as a threat."
"So, we shall hide, and when Spectral Rider Calyrex returns, I will emerge to subdue it once more."
Given the vast size of the Crown Shrine, finding a hiding place would be easy.
Time ticked by slowly.
After an indeterminate amount of time, just as Naoki was about to get fidgety and stretch his legs, a Pokemon entered through the shrine's entrance, catching his attention immediately. It was pitch-black, with blue mane and a light blue tail, its limbs floating as if surrounded by a thin mist of soul energy.
Naoki's eyes widened with excitement.
Spectral Rider Calyrex had arrived!
The next second, the Regal Majesty beside him sprang into action.
Mounted on its Blizzaroth, the Regal Majesty flashed into existence before the Spectral Rider Calyrex.
Startled by the sudden appearance of the Regal Majesty, the Spectral Rider Calyrex tried to turn and flee.
But the Regal Majesty was prepared.
Mounted on its Blizzaroth, it charged at the Spectral Rider Calyrex, freezing the ground beneath with Blizzaroth's power, only to shatter it again with its next stride.
The Regal Majesty raised its right hand, its eyes flashing with a blue light, as it used its psychic powers to gather and condense the icy energy of Blizzaroth.
Tiny ice shards appeared in the air, rapidly converging to form a pure white lance of ice.
The Regal Majesty held the ice lance and, with a mental command, hurled it at the Spectral Rider Calyrex.
"Whoosh!"
The lance struck true, causing the Spectral Rider Calyrex to let out a pained whinny as it stumbled and fell to the ground.
The Regal Majesty reined in Blizzaroth, its hooves clopping on the stone bricks below, coming to a stop in front of the fallen Spectral Rider Calyrex.
The Regal Majesty looked down at the defeated Pokemon, then dismounted with a flash of movement, approaching the Spectral Rider Calyrex and placing its palm on the creature's forehead.
A surge of pure, refined energy flowed out, healing the wounds of the Spectral Rider Calyrex.
The once defiant look in the Spectral Rider Calyrex's eyes softened, and it now regarded the Regal Majesty with newfound docility.
Once the Spectral Rider Calyrex had fully recovered, it stood up and bowed its head in submission once more, taking its place beside Blizzaroth, flanking the Regal Majesty.
Naoki stepped out with Gouleton, raising an eyebrow. "Is it done now?"
The Regal Majesty shook its head. "Not yet. We still need a bridle."
"Hmm?" Naoki was puzzled for a moment, but quickly caught on.
The bridle made from Blizzaroth's mane and the Radiance Flower could only forge a bond between Blizzaroth and the Regal Majesty.
For the Spectral Rider Calyrex, a bridle made from its own mane was needed!
"It seems that I must trouble you once more, my little believer," the Regal Majesty said, looking a bit embarrassed.
Thus far, its little believer had helped it tremendously, and it felt a sense of gratitude mixed with a twinge of shame for not having done anything in return.
The memory of what the little believer had said to it that day resurfaced, and the Regal Majesty began to contemplate the matter seriously.
Before it could come to a decision, it heard the little believer speak up: "Leave it to me. We've used up the Radiance Flower, but we also need the mane of the Spectral Rider Calyrex."
Having done it once, Naoki felt confident that he had mastered the method of crafting the binding bridles.
Hearing this, the Regal Majesty paused, then gently nodded and handed over the required materials, its expression soft and affectionate. "This is the last task I ask of you. Once it is done, I shall give you an answer to your question from before."
