Chapter 25: The Execution
Chapter 25: The Execution
September 25, 2017
"In life, it's best not to push things too far. Leave a little room for everyone, it's better that way." Lu HaiKong made a final attempt at persuasion, although he himself wasn't entirely sincere. His words were weak and powerless.
Unaware that he was already halfway into the coffin, Wang Ke felt he had completely seized the initiative. He couldn't help but show off again, "What do you mean by 'too far'? I don't think it's too much. Do you think it's better to have a monthly allowance of 100 gold from me or to be chased by the court like a dead dog?"
This guy was still thinking about the slap he had just tried to give Lu HaiKong, but Lu had dodged it. He wanted to regain some face, so he stepped forward to slap Lu again, who was already intimidated by him. However, before he could make any move, a cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
At that moment, he saw behind Lu HaiKong, ten bandits led by Wang Chao MaHan, all with bows drawn and arrows aimed at the three of them.
The distance between Wang Ke's group and Wang Chao MaHan's group was only about twenty meters. Within such a short distance, Wang Ke and his companions had no chance of dodging ten drawn bows.
The script had gone wrong. How dare this guy rebel? Wasn't he afraid that the news of him being an Outsider Bandit would spread?
"What are you doing! Don't be reckless!" Facing ten drawn bows, Wang Ke and Zhang Feng and Li Yi behind him were trembling with fear, worried that they might be shot dead at any moment.
Lu HaiKong rubbed his forehead, feeling more exasperated than angry at the three men before him. They were just too stupid, "What can I say about you guys? You three, with your crooked ways, come swaggering in front of me to threaten me. Are you really foolish enough to think I wouldn't dare to kill you?"
As he spoke, Lu HaiKong's face turned cold, his words chilling, and a hint of murderous intent filled the air, scaring Wang Ke and his companions so much that they trembled.
Wang Ke tried to argue, "Kill us? Don't joke around. We're Outsiders; what can you do even if you kill us? Think it through. Even if you kill us, we can still resurrect. By then, the news that you're an Outsider Bandit will be exposed. Are you prepared to face the Eastern Han Dynasty's siege?"
It wasn't that Wang Ke and his companions were stupid, unaware that Lu HaiKong might kill them to silence them. It was because they believed they had a hold over Lu HaiKong, and as players, they had two lives and weren't afraid of being silenced. That's why these three came swaggering to Zhao Lun's face, openly defiant.
"Oh my god, what's in your heads? So what if you can resurrect? A player only has two lives. You're willing to risk three lives for such a small matter? Even if the news of being an Outsider Bandit spreads, so what? At worst, I'll be besieged. I can start over. One of my lives for your three, who's the loser in this deal?"
Lu HaiKong laughed coldly, his teeth gleaming white, almost blinding.
At that moment, the three men across from him suddenly realized their mistake. Their faces turned as white as snow, "Oh, brother, we were just confused for a moment. How about letting us go? We promise, absolutely, not to reveal your information."
"At that moment, Zhang Feng, standing behind Wang Ke, cautiously poked his head out and pleaded with Lu HaiKong for mercy.
'A moment of confusion? What a convenient excuse,' Lu HaiKong waved his hand dismissively. 'I'm not in the mood for your nonsense. Drop your weapons and hand over everything valuable you have on you.' He had no patience for these three idiots. Their feeble attempt at robbery was an insult to his initial intention to resolve things peacefully.
'Come on, isn't this too much? Can't we just apologize to you?' Wang Ke and Li Yi, unable to hold back any longer, began to beg for mercy.
Lu HaiKong, exasperated, waved his hand impatiently. 'Apologize? If apologies were effective, why would we need the police? Stop wasting my time. Either pay up or face the consequences. Choose wisely!'
'Alright, alright, we admit we're unlucky!'
Wang Ke spoke with resentment as he raised his long spear, intending to throw it at Lu HaiKong's feet.
But just as he lifted the spear, a cruel smile crept onto his face. He tightened his grip on the spear, took a step forward, and with a powerful thrust, aimed directly at Lu HaiKong's heart. This was none other than the 'Heart Piercing Strike,' a skill derived from the fifth level of 'Basic Spear Technique.'
Wang Ke, in a desperate move, took advantage of Lu HaiKong's apparent weakness in close combat, hoping to kill him and seize his wealth, thus resolving his own crisis.
Unfortunately for Wang Ke, he underestimated Lu HaiKong's vigilance.
As Wang Ke launched his attack, Lu HaiKong's giant axe whirled in his hand, creating a dazzling circle of light. With a powerful swing of 'Forceful Strike,' the axe clashed with Wang Ke's spear, sending it flying out of his grasp. The momentum of the axe continued, and in a swift motion, it cleaved Wang Ke in two.
The scene was gruesome and violent, but Lu HaiKong, having experienced such sights before, remained unperturbed. However, Zhang Feng and Li Yi, witnessing this for the first time, turned pale, feeling nauseous as if something was about to burst out of their stomachs. They knelt on the ground, retching uncontrollably.

Wang Ke's death was somewhat unexpected. Lu HaiKong hadn't intended to kill him, but in the heat of the moment, he swung his axe without hesitation, and with one fatal blow, Wang Ke was no more. Now, if Wang Ke resurrects, Lu HaiKong's identity as an Outsider Mountain Bandit will undoubtedly be exposed."
'This won't do. I can't let my identity as an Outsider Bandit be revealed, at least not yet. I'm not prepared to handle any form of crisis at the moment. I'm still too weak; even a slight challenge could crush the small force I've gathered.'
However, with Wang Ke dead, Lu HaiKong, not being a true Outsider himself, was unsure about the resurrection system. He didn't know if the resurrection would restore the original identity or create a new one.
If it was the former, the remaining two bandits could still be of some use. But even if it was the latter, Lu HaiKong wasn't willing to let them off the hook just yet.
