Chapter 249: Spirit Harvesting (Fourth Update)
Chapter 249: Spirit Harvesting (Fourth Update)
"Empty Verification cultivation technique... it was meant to be mine!"
This was Lv Yang's only thought after hearing the warning from True Monarch Qingcheng Feixue. His confidence came entirely from the Ten Thousand Lives Scroll in his possession.
"Empty Verification Fruit Position's biggest risk is becoming disposable to Dao Lords after verification completion. But I'm different. If I reincarnate the moment Fruit Position manifests, then bring it back, the Ten Thousand Lives Scroll can purify it completely. With no karmic traces, what can Dao Lords do to me?"
Lv Yang barely contained his grin as he bid farewell to True Monarch Qingcheng Feixue.
With Chongguang's demise and the mysterious True Monarch's retreat, the gathered True Monarchs dispersed. The heavens cleared once more, as if no great battle had ever occurred.
"Come back with me."
Lv Yang glanced at Treasure-Child, who had remained nervously stationed outside Fortune Ground, and smiled. "You did earn some credit, Fellow Daoist."
He wasn't some ruthless tyrant. Free cultivators and minor sects struggled enough - Lv Yang considered himself empathetic enough to spare Treasure-Child undue hardship. Besides, the poor fellow had nothing left to squeeze out anyway.
Yet those simple words nearly brought Treasure-Child to tears.
What bitter days had he endured since leaving Jiangbei? Betraying his original sect brought nothing but misfortune - constant misunderstandings, being extorted by Sword Pavilion...
Now he realized Holy Sect had always recognized his hidden talents. How could he have been so foolish to abandon them?
Under different circumstances, Treasure-Child wouldn't have reacted so strongly to mere praise. But after recent hardships, surviving with credit intact moved him to near elation.
"Thank you, Senior!"
Nodding, Lv Yang retrieved the Avici Sword and reduced the unconscious Ye Guyue (Solitary Moon) to dust with a single sword beam before departing.
Back at Luofeng Mountain, Holy Sect:
After dismissing Treasure-Child, Lv Yang strolled through the mountains. Listening to the bustling cultivator chatter helped ease his tension. Cultivation was about balance - too much strain broke even the strongest.
Yet returning after such a short absence felt strangely surreal. The mountain teemed with more disciples than Heaven-Mending Peak ever held. Many practiced Wugui Sect's techniques - made affordable thanks to Yanluo Patriarch's policies offering 30% discounts and monthly promotions.
"What do you think?" Yanluo Patriarch materialized beside him, Ten-Thousand Spirit Banner billowing.
Lv Yang sighed. "Remember when I was the last disciple standing? Now this prosperity feels dreamlike."
Yanluo Patriarch's gaze softened, picturing the lonely disciple who once trembled nightly while scheming to revive Wugui Sect. He clapped Lv Yang's shoulder. "You've suffered enough."
"My cultivation is limited. The sect's revival requires your continued guidance", Lv Yang replied respectfully.
Nodding, Yanluo continued, "Holy Sect's True Monarch sees farther. Let's focus on second-tier Empty Verification for now."
Lv Yang agreed, though his mind raced. Master first-tier techniques carefully, build a golden core foundation, then reverse-engineer higher cultivation later. Skipping steps risks disaster.
"You'll need more Dao cultivation and fortune to awaken a second Divine Ability", Yanluo warned.
"True Monarch Qingcheng Feixue promised assistance", Lv Yang mused. "She'll refine an immortal pill using Undying Camphor."
"Trust her?" Yanluo frowned.
"With the Ten Thousand Lives Scroll, I have nothing to fear", Lv Yang smiled. "But I do trust her."
Before Yanluo could respond, a third presence arrived - graceful footsteps approaching. Both froze in alarm.
When Lv Yang turned, a woman in flowing crimson robes stood there - elegant, mysterious.
"Great True Man or True Monarch?" he wondered. Either could bypass his senses, but instinct urged caution.
"Disciple greets True Monarch!" he bowed deeply.
"Surprising accuracy", she smiled. "I'm Zeng Caiqi Luo, acquainted with your Qingcheng Feixue. She requested my help refining Jiawood Pill."
With a flick of her sleeve, clouds formed a pavilion beneath her feet. "Produce the Undying Camphor."
Lv Yang obeyed, watching her examine the spirit herb. "Fine craftsmanship", she noted, "Pity about Chongguang."
The clouds morphed into a teapot swallowing the Camphor. As she stirred, she asked:
"You're attending Spirit Harvesting?"
"Yes, on Qingcheng Feixue's orders. She said..."
"Excellent opportunity for fortune growth", Zeng Caiqi Luo interrupted. "Though dangerous. You've made Holy Sect's name with Sword Pavilion's losses - all connected to you."
"Noticed how they make you their precious gem?" she teased. "Sending you to Spirit Harvesting shows either extreme confidence in your strength... or did you offend Qingcheng?"
Lv Yang stiffened. "What dangers await me there?"
"You, a mid-formation Foundation Builder nearing peak stage, embody heavenly blessings. In Spirit Harvesting realms, you're not just practitioner - you're itself a harvestable fortune essence."
"Me... as spiritual harvest?"
Realization struck. Spirit Harvesting isn't one-world affair! Venturing to other realms means becoming prey for their harvesters!
