Chapter 249: Reappearing Broken Secret Realm
Chapter 249: Reappearing Broken Secret Realm
The group took a long time to recover from what they had seen. Although they had heard about it in past records, the experience was vastly different when they witnessed it firsthand.
Song Chi’s gaze fell on a blood-red fleshy mountain several thousand meters tall in the distance, more specifically, on a Fourth-Rank Evil Buddha sitting not far from the mountain, resembling the Buddha from the classic Journey to the West.
Apart from its three-thousand-meter-tall form, its appearance was not much different from that of an ordinary human, except for the enlarged belly, head, face, and ears.
It sat on the side of the blood-red fleshy mountain, with its hands resting on its knees, and a large string of Buddhist beads in its left hand.
What drew Song Chi’s attention was the bone-white string of beads in its hand.
Though called Buddhist beads, they more closely resembled glowing finger bones. Despite their size being terrifyingly large to match its three-thousand-meter form, Song Chi could still see that they were undoubtedly human finger bones.
These finger bones were initially not like this but had been long nurtured by the Fourth-Rank Evil Buddha’s internal Buddhist power, transcending the ordinary and transforming into flexible spiritual finger bones.
Song Chi even suspected that if they waited for a few hundred or thousand years, these spiritual finger bones might transform again into true oddity finger bones.
This realization sent a chill through everyone, not just Song Chi.
They knew that the Evil Buddha Continent had many human nations and that these nations were under the control of the Evil Buddha Clan, making the human race’s situation extremely difficult. However, seeing this string of finger bones, they realized their previous understanding was overly simplistic.
This wasn’t just difficult; it seemed that all the human nations on the continent were deliberately kept for the Evil Buddha Clan to use as blood food or materials for crafting tools.
After all, just this string of beads had no fewer than a thousand finger bones, and on the sides of the other fleshy mountains, there were many more Evil Buddhas, each holding similar strings of beads.
Thinking of this, the already oppressive atmosphere grew even heavier, yet they were helpless.
The strange emotions of the group were all captured by a hidden presence.
In the dim, unknown space, a light laugh echoed.
"Indeed, they are still children, with too little experience. Though they are all Star Sea humans, what difference is there between non-Torch humans and aliens? Such pity is unacceptable!"
"These little ones are at most in their forties. When they gain more experience, they will understand these things..."
"But will this plan truly work? Will the Hundred-Armed Buddha Sect really take action?"
"We have to try; otherwise, Ancestor Ru alone can’t handle the Hundred-Armed Buddha Sect."
...
"Everyone, be careful. Try not to directly look at those Fourth-Rank Evil Buddhas. Although they are controlled by the Lingzhi Flesh Mountain, their Evil Buddha powers haven’t disappeared. With the Floating Continent’s fundamental laws, they might..."
By the time they recovered, Song Ze immediately summoned his flagship and warned the surrounding group, but his warning was too late.
Enraged!
A strange incantation came from the mouth of the nearest Fourth-Rank Evil Buddha, echoing directly in their minds despite the great distance.
Intimidated to a standstill, those who hadn’t yet summoned their warships were left stunned. The incantation seemed to have boundless power, not only intimidating their minds but also rapidly coalescing above their hearts. Once the incantation fully formed, everyone would become puppets of that Fourth-Rank Evil Buddha.
Of course, since they themselves were puppets, they would essentially be controlled by the Lingzhi Flesh Mountain.
Inside his flagship, Song Ze’s expression changed. His flagship was equipped with a mental protection component, and it was of high orange quality, which prevented the strange incantation from penetrating the ship.
However, this component had no external effect. Turning his head, he saw that Song Chi, who had summoned his flagship almost simultaneously, was also unaffected.
"Brother Chi, do you have any ideas?"
Song Chi could only shake his head. Neither the orange Taiyi Soul-Stabilizing Stele nor the blue Abnormal Status Purifier could take effect outside the ship. The Taiyi Soul-Stabilizing Stele’s active “Soul-Stabilizing Stele” feature could only protect the captain, not others.
With a thought, eight Void Shadow Killer puppets rushed out from the Cobalt Number and headed toward the eight stunned individuals. Song Chi intended to try to wake them up directly.
However, at this moment, Song Gang, one of the eight, let out a soft hum. His face was slightly pale, but he managed to recover from the soul-binding state.
Song Chi and Song Ze were relieved, thinking that the mental protection component in his flagship might have an external effect.
Without needing to speak, Song Gang quickly summoned his flagship and, with a thought, a subtle halo spread from his forehead, quickly enveloping the other seven.
As the halo appeared, the incantation that was gradually solidifying above the other seven’s hearts was dispelled.
When they recovered from the soul-binding state, a sense of fear rose in everyone’s hearts, giving them a new understanding of the terror of the Evil Buddha Continent.
Having been warned by their family, they naturally had the appropriate components on their ships, but they hadn’t expected such an encounter in the mere two minutes it took to recall their ships. This was clearly something they had not anticipated.
After the group quickly summoned their flagships, a communication group chat was established. Song Ze said:
"Everyone, try to stay in your ships unless absolutely necessary."
Hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement.
Buzz, buzz, buzz!
The engines of the ten warships activated one after another, flying toward the direction of Blood Zen State. No one dared to fly too high, all maintaining a low altitude.
According to the information provided by their family, the Evil Buddha Continent was home to countless bizarre creatures. If not necessary, high-altitude flights were forbidden, as they might attract the attention of unknown entities.
During the flight, they still occasionally saw blood-red fleshy mountains of varying heights. However, Song Chi and the others no longer dared to look directly at the thousands-of-meters-tall mountains, fearing they might inadvertently trigger a reaction from the mountains or the Evil Buddhas.
The group was not surprised by these bizarre fleshy mountains, as the family’s information had already explained them.
According to the family, these blood-red fleshy mountains were called Lingzhi Flesh Mountains. Like the Evil Buddha Clan, they were representative species of the Evil Buddha Continent.
Indeed, these Lingzhi Flesh Mountains were living beings with their own consciousness, capable of continuous growth and evolution.
No one knew where these things came from, only that they could grow on any inch of the Evil Buddha Continent. When they first emerged from the ground, they might only be a few meters tall, but they emitted a special odor that attracted unknown evil spirits, fallen evil, or members of the Evil Buddha Clan, who would either devour or control them, allowing them to grow and evolve continuously.
What astonished everyone was the number of these Lingzhi Meat Mountains, especially the high-rank ones.
Inside the Cobalt Number, Song Chi was controlling the warship to follow the team while also checking the radar map beside him. His expression was not good.
On the radar map displayed by the [Silver III Generation Ultrasonic Mana Detection Radar], these strange meat mountains were everywhere, including some that were several kilometers tall, emitting energy fluctuations at the Fourth Rank level.
Song Chi was at a loss for words. In his memory, Fourth Rank beings were high and mighty, but on this Evil Buddha Continent, they were everywhere, and this was still the extremely desolate Hundred-Arms Domain.
"This is a Seventh-Class Floating Continent... No wonder the clan is so cautious here, afraid of making a single misstep."
The group avoided the Lingzhi Meat Mountains that were over a kilometer tall and continued toward the designated spatial leap point.
On the Evil Buddha Continent, even spatial leaps couldn't be activated just anywhere. After all, once activated, a period of buffering was needed before the leap, and if affected by external forces during this time, the leap warship might get lost in the spatial channel.
As for why they didn't leap directly from the underground space, no one asked. Everyone understood that since the clan head didn't mention it and marked two corresponding leap coordinates in the data, it was to have everyone leap from these two coordinates.
The reason was simple: to let them experience the environment of the Evil Buddha Continent in advance, so they wouldn't be caught off guard later. If affected around the underground space, the clan elders hidden nearby could act in time.
After traveling tens of millions of kilometers, the ten people did not encounter any other unexpected events, thanks to their constant avoidance of the Lingzhi Meat Mountains over a kilometer tall.
While passing through a not particularly high Black Rock Mountain Range, the fleet finally encountered another unexpected event.
"What's going on? Song Ze and Song Wenbo's warships seem to have vanished into thin air."
In the warship communication group chat, the remaining eight people's expressions turned grim, and they began to discuss one after another.
Just now, the two warships at the front of the fleet suddenly disappeared.
"What do you mean, your sky radar detected nothing unusual?"
Someone asked, but the answers were all the same. The sky radars on the eight warships detected nothing unusual, whether purple or orange.
"A frigate and a cruiser just vanished into thin air?"
Song Gang's expression was dark, and his tone was gradually rising.
Song Chi ignored it. His eyes flickered, and seven thoughts intertwined in his mind, analyzing the reasons at an indescribable speed.
Vanishing into thin air was impossible. Either they entered a secret realm like before, or they were teleported away, or there was a special isolation barrier here, dividing the space into two.
These three scenarios, the second could be ruled out. If they were teleported away, they would have detected spatial fluctuations, but they didn't.
Thinking this, Song Chi frowned. If it was the first or third scenario, they had already controlled the war puppets to search the area several times. There was no reason it wouldn't trigger again.
Suddenly, a flash of insight appeared in Song Chi's eyes.
If it was the second or third scenario, and it could be triggered without active intervention, it meant that the secret realm or barrier was controlled by a living being. Only then could everything be explained.
With this deduction, he spoke in the projection group chat:
"Who has a special component for creating a domain?"
The others weren't stupid. Hearing this, they immediately understood.
A clan brother from the Second Direct Line activated a special component on his flagship.
Soon, a white light membrane spread from his flagship, quickly expanding to the surroundings.
Finally, the white light membrane formed a special domain space ten thousand meters in diameter. In this domain space, the Cobalt Number and the other six warships were instantly like being stuck in mud, suppressed by the domain space. As for the flagship that activated the domain space, it seemed to become the master of this space.
Before anyone could speak, energy light gathered at the bow of the warship, indicating the main cannon was charging.
A few seconds later, a purple beam erupted from the main cannon's muzzle.
Buzz!
At the point where the beam landed, ripples began to appear, and then a previously undetectable spatial vortex entrance quietly appeared.
"Secret realm entrance..."
Inside the Cobalt Number, Song Chi's expression remained unchanged, but he inwardly confirmed his suspicions.
Soon, several war puppets from the eight warships rushed toward the nearly kilometer-wide giant secret realm entrance.
As dozens of war puppets disappeared into the secret realm entrance, the expressions of the remaining eight people in the projection group chat varied. Song Chi, who had captured this scene, immediately had an answer.
"Song Gang has a remote control component as well..."
Just as this thought flashed through his mind, Song Chi's attention quickly shifted to another brainwave perspective.
"It seems to be a broken secret realm."
In the dim starry sky, an irregular floating land fragment hovered. This fragment was not small, with a diameter exceeding a thousand kilometers. However, Song Chi didn't have time to pay attention to this. In the sky above the fragment, Song Ze and Song Wenbo's flagships were being attacked by dense blood shadows.
In less than two minutes, the energy shields on their flagships had dimmed to the extreme, on the verge of breaking.
Outside, Song Chi and Song Gang's voices almost simultaneously echoed in the communication group chat.
"Quick, go in and help!"
Without waiting for the other six to react, the Cobalt Number and the Night Harbor Ship rushed toward the secret realm entrance several kilometers away.
Behind them, the six who had lost contact with their war puppets and didn't know the internal situation of the secret realm also guessed that Song Ze and Song Wenbo's situation wasn't good. They hurriedly followed the Cobalt Number and the Night Harbor Ship.
PS: Writing the segment on the Evil Buddha Continent has been a bit challenging, and I imagine it hasn't been the most enjoyable read. I'll try to wrap up this part of the plot as soon as possible.
