Chapter 249: May You Live a Happy Life!
Chapter 249: May You Live a Happy Life!
Sherlock burst out of the Room of Requirement like a cannonball!
He then collided with a soft body, and the two of them tumbled to the ground.
Sherlock and Silke lay on the ground, their eyes meeting. He quickly stood up, his face beaming with excitement.
"Got it!"
With a thought, under the influence of Control Magic, the door to the Room of Requirement slammed shut.
Silke, sitting on the ground with a blank expression, watched Sherlock, who was more hyper than if he had taken a stimulant. She could clearly see the source of his abnormal state.
Sherlock, overflowing with positive energy but still retaining his rationality, extended his hand to Silke with a radiant smile.
"It definitely has a problem. My Patronus Charm is almost useless against it now, but fortunately, it was so eager to kill me that I found a loophole. I think I managed to disperse its physical form!"
Silke smoothed her silver-gray strands and reached out to take Sherlock's hand, helping herself up.
"That can't be its own power. If it were, it would be invincible."
"Of course not", Sherlock said lightly. "It used an alchemical item, a very dark one. That power can counteract the Patronus. It's likely the group that released it gave it to them."
Silke didn't let go of Sherlock's hand. Instead, she gripped his arm to stop him from breaking into a dance on the spot.
A few small silver crows were still fluttering around him. Sherlock chose not to cancel the remaining Patronus Charm completely, leaving one to perch on the tapestry opposite the Room of Requirement, keeping watch.
"I'll take you to Madam Pomfrey first", Silke said, supporting his arm. "Your state can't last. It will have a significant impact on your spellcasting and mental state."
Sherlock raised his other hand and snapped his fingers.
"You're absolutely right. So let's head to the infirmary! By the way, if you don't mind, can we dance all the way there?"
"I do mind", Silke said calmly, holding Sherlock and guiding him toward the infirmary. "And to prevent you from losing all respect in the castle, I won't let you do anything foolish."
"Such a heartless person", Sherlock said, feigning a pitiful look, but his joyful smile wouldn't fade. "What a beautiful day! Oh, what a wonderful day!"
Silke glanced at him. If it weren't for the fact that his strange talent would cease in this abnormal state, she would have gagged him.
As for why she didn't use a Stunning Spell like last time, it was because Sherlock was still maintaining the Patronus Charm he had placed at the door of the Room of Requirement. If she stunned him, the charm would fail.
They had just reached the stairs on the eighth floor when it was time for the students to leave their classes.
The young wizards, having finished their first afternoon class, were emerging from their classrooms. Harry, Ron, and Hermione, who had just left their Spell class, happened to meet Sherlock and Silke.
Sherlock's state was so obvious that anyone could tell something was wrong. Harry, with a look of surprise, asked, "What's the matter with Professor Forrest?"
Before Silke could even open her mouth, Sherlock burst into laughter. "Ha ha ha! Thank you for your concern, Harry! But your eyesight must be terrible. I'm doing great! In excellent health, wonderful mood, and very, very happy!"
Noticing that he was starting to act up again, Silke rolled her eyes behind her black ribbon and, without a word, pulled him down the stairs.
However, Sherlock clearly wasn't done chatting with Harry and the others. While his body complied with Silke's tug down the stairs, he turned back, smiling and shouting, "I'm very happy, Harry, and I wish you the same! Happiness for your entire life! Oh! And you too, Hermione and Ron, you'll be happy for the rest of your lives!"
Upon hearing his words, Harry, Ron, and Hermione froze like statues.
It wasn't until Silke and Sherlock had disappeared down the stairs that they finally snapped out of their stupor. Harry's face was pale, his expression vacant; Ron's eyes were wide, as if they might pop out of his head; and Hermione's body was trembling as if she were shivering, a look of desperate tears on her face.
"That's not right. It can't be. Professor's words couldn't have been sincere, right?" Harry said, his voice trembling.
Ron swallowed hard, stammering, "R-right, Professor couldn't have been sincere. He couldn't have been."
Hermione's face was ashen, and she spoke in a near-despairing voice, "Stop deluding yourselves. The way Professor Forrest looked, the way he acted, he didn't seem to be saying anything insincere!"
Harry and Ron, who had been trying to convince themselves with lies, deflated like punctured balloons, their bodies going limp.
The three of them huddled in the corner by the stairs, drawing curious glances from the students passing by. Ron, on the verge of tears, asked, "What do we do now? Are we doomed to a life of pain and despair?"
Harry, clutching his hair, murmured in a soulless voice, "Should we prepare our last words? I still have so much I want to say to Sirius Black."
But Hermione quickly regained her determination. "We can't just sit here and let our future be ruined by pain and despair! We have to save ourselves!"
"How do we do that? Should we go to Professor Dumbledore and tell him we've been cursed by Professor Forrest?" Ron still looked utterly hopeless.
Hermione spoke with resolve. "We need to make Professor Forrest say, with complete sincerity, 'Harry, Ron, Hermione, you three are doomed to a life of pain and despair.' If he says it sincerely, the curse will be lifted!"
Harry's expression didn't improve, and he said with pain, "But how do we get Professor to say such a thing sincerely? I've never seen him say anything so cruel to anyone."
Hermione clenched her fists. "We have to find a way, even if it seems impossible! We have to try. Giving up changes nothing, but trying gives us a chance to change things!"
