Chapter 247: Zankuro, One of the Seven Lieutenants
Chapter 247: Zankuro, One of the Seven Lieutenants
In the forest, a young man with golden hair was walking around aimlessly, not recognizing anyone.
A ten-person squad was scattered around him, carefully observing the surroundings.
The golden-haired youth was one of the Seven Lieutenants, Zankuro, and he wore an impatient expression.
"Clearly, we're here to find the 'Key,' so why do I have to do this boring thing?"
The person beside him cautiously replied, "Because you agreed to take those siblings back with Kaburiko. Kaburiko said that the strongest young warrior of the battle race has the right to become his servant. And, that sister is a well-known beauty..."
Zankuro sneered, "A goat, and he's actually interested in women."
"Sir... If you say so, Kaburiko will..."
Zankuro grabbed his neck, his eyes fierce, "What will happen?"
"Cough... cough... I'm sorry! I'm extremely sorry!"
"Shh..." Zankuro threw the person away, uninterested.
He didn't need to fight Kaburiko; he just didn't want to bother with this kind of task, and that guy's magic was too unfair for someone like him.
"Zankuro, Sir! We found them! We found those siblings!"
Zankuro, impatient, said, "Found them? Hurry up and finish the task quickly."
"One of the people ahead is already in battle, but they are very strong, and a mage with a demon's tail has joined them. Many of our people have already been knocked out! Please..."
"Wait a moment!" Zankuro's expression suddenly turned manic, "You just said 'very strong'?"
"Ah, no..." The person relaying the message felt the situation wasn't good and took small steps backward.
"The heart of a demon is the strongest!" Zankuro waved his hand, and which a black flame immediately engulfed the person.
"Ah ah ah..."
The person screaming fell, burned to ashes by the flames.
The others were as quiet as a mouse, this was why they spoke carefully around the adult.
"Remember, the heart of a demon doesn't need to be weak!"
"Yes!"
"Go deal with the person blocking the way!"
"Yes!" The ten-person squad immediately ran off.
"Hehehehe..." Zankuro laughed, "Finally, something interesting happened."
...
"Partial Reception·Iron Arm!"
Alfman's right arm turned to steel, and with one punch, he knocked three people flying, even breaking their long swords.
He looked at the enemies, who seemed to be endless, and complained, "Damn, it never ends!"
Without the wild beasts' support, Alfman realized how comfortable it was to fight alongside Rod.
That feeling of not caring about anything except the enemies in front of him was ten times better than now!
Fortunately, Mar and Vena, this pair of siblings, were not holding him back, and the 'youngest and strongest warrior' was not just a boast.
These two, although they didn't use magic, relied on their well-trained bodies and superior combat skills, and they fought just as well as those mages.
And those who used magic staves for ranged attacks, once they were in close combat, had no way to retaliate.
In Alfman's memory, only a few excellent knights could perform to this level without magic.
"How many of them are there?" Mar used her shield to block the enemy's weapon, a spear pierced the opponent's chest, "Vena, can you hold up?"
"No problem, brother!" Vena's forehead was drenched with fine sweat, clearly not as easy as she had said.
"Like this, both physical and magical strength will give out... no way around it." Alfman pulled out a book from his chest, "You two come over!"
The two of them, although they didn't understand, gave this powerful mage enough trust.
Alfman had taken down more enemies by himself than the two siblings combined, a testament to his strength.
"Although I don't want to use this, but..." Alfman looked at the many enemies and shouted, "Man up!"
The shout not only startled the enemies but also the two siblings who were leaning against him.
"What is he saying?"
"It doesn't make any sense."
While the siblings were puzzled, Alfman had already opened the book and infused it with a bit of magic.
The first page of the book crumbled and transformed into a two-meter-wide fireball that flew into the crowd. The second page crumbled and turned into three golden lightning bolts. The third, fourth...
Flames, lightning, hurricanes... various elemental magics flew out one after another.
"Ah!"
"Where's the defensive magic, who knows defensive magic!"
"Get out of the way!"
These magics weren't necessarily powerful; most might not even compare to Kana's cards or Levy's runes. However, in a group battle, such power was more than enough.
The main advantage was the sheer number and wide range, and they required only a tiny bit of magic to activate.
By the time the magic book had consumed most of its pages, the crowd in front of Alfman had thinned out. Not only the mages but even the trees and ground suffered, and the encirclement was torn open.
"Hey..." Mar swallowed hard, "So you're this strong?"
Vena followed with, "Amazing!"
Even Alfman himself was surprised, "What level of magic book did Rod give me..."
He regained his composure and called out, "Anyway, let's take this chance to break out!"
The three of them sprinted along the gap, almost breaking through the encirclement when a black flame flew over from the side.
"Watch out!" Alfman scooped up each of them and dove to the ground.
The black flame exploded, setting the surrounding trees ablaze, and the intense heat scorched Alfman's back.
Vena asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
"This minor injury... man up!" Alfman got up and looked in the direction the flame had come from.
The siblings didn't fully understand what "man up" meant, but they felt that the person in front of them was indeed a man.
Alfman remembered Rod's advice and said to the siblings, "Now isn't the time to fight to the death. Remember, escape at the first opportunity."
Mar and Vena nodded simultaneously.
"Hehehehe..." Zankuro strode over, arms spread wide, each hand holding a black flame, as if declaring that the attack had come from him.
His face twisted into a strange smile, as if he had found an interesting prey, "Where do you think you're running to?"
Alfman stared at his hands and said solemnly, "Black flames, the village... was it you?"
"You mean that place where the weak gather?" Zankuro's expression turned cruel, "I just burned some worthless things, but you seem interesting."
"It was you?!!" Mar, who had just agreed to escape, immediately had red eyes and charged forward with his spear, "What did you do to our village!!!"
Alfman realized the situation was bad, "Don't be rash!"
Mar wasn't listening; the destroyer of their village was right in front of him. If he could stay calm, he wouldn't have rushed out a few days ago to investigate dangerous individuals.
Not just him, even Vena couldn't control her emotions. Seeing her brother charge forward, she naturally refused to let him fight alone.
"Hehe... Although Kaburiko wants you... as long as you don't die, it's fine, right?"
Zankuro waved his right hand, and the black flame flew out like a scimitar, "Blade of the Flame God!"
