Chapter 247: Long Used to It
Chapter 247: Long Used to It
Lucario?
Sag froze, scanning his subordinates. Among them, he spotted only Gabura, Weiqu, and an owl whose beak was being tightly held shut by Gabura.
The rest, including Lucario, Kaku, Bruno, and Kalifa, had vanished.
"Captain, the ship…"
Seeing Sag's gaze, Gabura reluctantly released his grip. But before the owl could escape, Gabura kicked it away and rushed out, shouting,
"We've been summoned by the World Government! They've reopened the investigation and believe that we're not responsible for the destruction of Enies Lobby!"
"You jerk, Gabura!" The owl screeched angrily. "We agreed that I would be the one to reveal this secret! You said that waiting until after Lucario left would make the revelation even more explosive! How dare you beat me to it!"
"Shut up! Who told you to go blabbing about my break-up everywhere? I did it on purpose!" Gabura rolled his eyes.
"Summoned? All of you?"
Sag paused, "CP0?"
"Yes, Captain Sag. When we entered Mary Geoa, Gernika managed to get in touch with us," Gabura explained with a smile.
"You once promised that if we ever had a choice, you wouldn't stand in our way."
"So, we've decided to stay, and we've split into two teams: Lucario's team and my team," Gabura continued. "On the surface, we'll report to you that we've 'betrayed' the World Government and are now working for you. But in reality, we'll be secretly gathering information about you and reporting back to them."
The owl rushed out, speaking in a rush, then relaxing its tone as it finished, "Finally, I've said it."
Sag stared at them quietly, without saying a word. He continued to gaze at them until he saw them shift uncomfortably, their scalps tingling, and they even started to tremble slightly. Only then did he curl his lips into a smile and beckon to Gabura.
"Captain?" Gabura approached cautiously.
Sag patted him on the shoulder and said with a smile, "Next time, don't keep secrets from me, Lily."
Clang!
In almost the same instant, a cold light flashed, striking all three of them simultaneously in the chest and sending them flying. They crashed onto the deck not far away.
Without even a glance back, Sag turned and walked into the captain's cabin.
Gabura, clutching his chest, struggled to lift his head and exclaimed in disbelief, "Hey! We had a deal!"
"I used the flat of my blade," Lily said, sheathing her sword and addressing the three of them. "Your choice pleases Sag, but your attitude does not."
"You should have informed Sag about this matter earlier instead of keeping it hidden until now. Sag agreed to your plan, but because you kept it hidden for so long, you must be punished. Tell Lucario that they are also complicit in this, and they will face the same when they return."
"Alright, continue with your preparations. Since you've decided to split into teams, go ahead and carry out your plan."
Lily looked up at the sky, which was growing darker, and frowned. "Everyone, be on alert! A storm is coming!"
Boom!
As soon as she finished speaking, a thunderous roar filled the rapidly darkening sky, and lightning flashed down from the clouds, splitting into several forks as it struck the sea near the Blackbeard ship.
Violent gusts of wind whipped up huge waves, causing the sea to heave and pitch like an earthquake, sending towering waves crashing against the ship.
The sky turned pitch-black as if it were about to devour everything, including the black ship. Amid the rolling waves, the ocean seemed to become a gaping maw, ready to chew up and spit out any vessel that dared to venture within!
"What a storm! Is this the New World?" Ulqi exclaimed, buffeted by the wind and rain. "The intensity is off the charts!"
"Hehehehe, welcome to the New World!" Moriah spread his arms wide and cackled. "This is what you'll be dealing with from now on. The New World is a battleground for the strong, where countless powerful pirates showcase their abilities and shape the very environment around them!"
Moriah walked over, intending to pat him on the shoulder, but due to their height difference, the two-meter-tall man could only reach the waist of the six-foot-nine-inch-tall Moriah. With his short legs, Hawkins awkwardly withdrew.
"You'll get used to it," he said, his face tinged with rare embarrassment as he hurried away.
...
"Should we have Gabura feed CP0 false information?" Lily asked as she entered the captain's cabin.
"There's no need. What intelligence could our pirate crew possibly have that's worth hiding? And it's not like CP0 are the only spies here. As we grow stronger, new spies will arrive, so feeding them false information is pointless."
"Furthermore, Lucario is still with us, and as a professional spy, he's supposed to gather intelligence. Now that he's staying, we'll be able to put together even more perfect plans!" Sag took a sip from his gem-encrusted cup, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Supporting my crew is what a captain should do!"
Sag welcomed Lucario's decision to remain, especially as he prepared to seize new territories. Having a dedicated spy division to monitor those territories would be invaluable.
