Chapter 247: Lin Jianying's Message
Chapter 247: Lin Jianying's Message
Outside Lu Wu's research lab at Jiangnan University.
A thunderous noise suddenly erupted, shattering many of the lab's windows.
By the time Lu Wu snapped out of his daze and rushed outside, he witnessed a peculiar scene.
He saw Little Skeleton lying flat on the ground, surrounded by his minions, and on the other side, stood Zhao Li, a tsundere teen, with a stunned expression.
"What's going on? Did you hit someone?"
Zhao Li vigorously shook his head.
He quickly explained to Lu Wu that he wasn't the culprit; it was a pig that had attacked.
Lu Wu was taken aback and turned to look at Little Skeleton.
"A pig hit you? Why would a pig attack you when you're not even training? What's the deal?"
Little Skeleton hugged his head, pretending to be dead, but it was no use. His attributes couldn't deceive Lu Wu, who had already guessed the situation from Little Skeleton's state.
Lu Wu realized that this little guy, after getting carried away, had challenged TuanTuan to a duel and ended up getting thoroughly beaten.
Lu Wu's heart sank.
"You deserve it! You challenged TuanTuan before even evolving. Don't you know that TuanTuan just swallowed a Mysterious Chickling?"
According to Lu Wu's estimation, the pig's strength had reached a level where it could become a lord at any moment. It was normal for this little guy to provoke it and get beaten up.
After mocking Little Skeleton, Lu Wu turned his attention to Zhao Li.
"Did you come to see me, Zhao? Is there something you need?"
"No, I'm just strolling!"
Zhao Li shook his head. He did have a reason, but not anymore.
He was a tsundere, but not foolish.
After witnessing the fight between Little Skeleton and TuanTuan, he wouldn't dare mention fighting to Lu Wu.
Given Little Skeleton's displayed combat power, he might end up getting beaten to a pulp. Shaking his head, he quickly ran off without a word.
As Zhao Li left, Lu Wu suddenly felt his pants getting heavier. He quickly grabbed his waist and glared down at Little Skeleton, who was tugging at his pants: "What are you doing?"
Expectation (Little Skeleton is in hot water, and Little Skeleton is about to get stronger!)
Lu Wu rolled his eyes. He carried this phone around daily, and now, after getting beaten, he realizes the need to become stronger.
Why didn't he think of this earlier? Still, it's good that he has this intention. Lu Wu believed encouragement was necessary.
"Lu Wu will prepare a hot bath for you, but it'll take some time. During this period, you must train hard, understand?"
Little Skeleton shook his head vigorously (Little Skeleton doesn't want to train, but if he doesn't, TuanTuan will beat him up, and TuanTuan has been naughty lately!)
Lu Wu didn't like the sound of that.
"You must have provoked it. Otherwise, why would a lazy pig like TuanTuan beat you up so punctually every day? Could it be that Dudu is behind this?"
"That's even more impossible, right?"
Dudu was such a soft and gentle girl; how could she possibly instruct TuanTuan to bully Little Skeleton?)
It had to be Little Skeleton's fault! Lu Wu's words made Little Skeleton feel wronged, and he lay on the ground, motionless.
Anger (Little Skeleton is unhappy. Lu Wu is no longer a good Lu Wu, and Little Skeleton is starting to dislike Lu Wu.)
"No, who taught you this? Why are you acting like a girl and throwing tantrums so easily?"
Lu Wu pondered for a moment. There didn't seem to be anyone around who could be a bad influence on the little guy.
"No need to explain. You must have watched too much TV. Starting today, your phone is confiscated. Later, I'll buy you some advanced Bone-type spells, and you better train hard!"
As Lu Wu prepared to cruelly pry the phone, which he had tightly held in his embrace, from Little Skeleton, Zhao Li, who had just left, returned.
Yes, he had walked away before, but now he was running back, seemingly in a hurry.
"What's going on? Did you just come back from a tour of Jiangbei University?" Lu Wu asked.
"No, it's not that. Someone at the school entrance is looking for you," the person replied.
"Me?" Lu Wu was even more confused. "Who is it? Male or female?"
"A female, covered in wounds, and she has this injured dog with her, which seems to be a Hellhound Pup," the person explained.
"She said she was looking for you and then passed out. They've taken her to the medical room now."
"A classmate wanted to come and inform you, but I ran into her, so I came over..." Zhao Li didn't finish her sentence before Lu Wu thanked her and hurried off towards the medical room.
It was clear why he was in such a hurry; the mention of the Hellhound Pup was a significant clue.
Golden-grade Hellhound Pups were rare, and the only connection Lu Wu had to one was through Lin Jianying.
Lu Wu was almost certain that the Hellhound Pup belonged to Lin Jianying's family.
This suspicion was confirmed when he arrived at the medical room.
The girl who had been searching for him was undergoing emergency treatment, while the dog's medical care was nearly complete.
In the medical room, an emotional girl with teary eyes explained the situation to Lu Wu.
"The Hellhound Pup is well-protected. Although it fell into a coma due to an unknown poison, it has no other wounds. However, the girl has over thirty wounds of varying severity all over her body.
Most of these injuries are recent, and she seems to have gone without food for several days, leaving her vitality nearly depleted.
Her survival is almost a miracle.
Given her current health condition, it's hard to say if she can make it."
As the nurse spoke, her gaze towards Lu Wu became accusatory.
She seemed to be imagining a scenario where a heartless man had abandoned a devoted woman, who then embarked on a thousand-mile journey to find him.
However, Lu Wu had no time to pay attention to these assumptions.
His first action was to contact Zhang Wentao and Jiang Yuexing, requesting them to arrange the best medical team available.
Meanwhile, Lu Wu went to check on the dog's condition.
As the nurse had described, the dog was indeed unconscious.
Lu Wu scanned the dog's attributes and his eyebrows furrowed.
The dog did belong to Lin Jianying, but there was a problem—its contract with Lin Jianying seemed to have been severed.
In this world, there were typically only two reasons for a contract between a summoner and their summoned beast to be broken.
One was if the summoner actively severed the contract, and the other was if the summoner had passed away.
Regardless of which scenario applied, Lin Jianying's situation was concerning.
It was possible that something unfortunate had already happened to him.
Additionally, Lu Wu noticed that the dog's condition was more complicated than just being unconscious.
Due to the broken contract with Lin Jianying, the dog's soul was extremely weak, and it seemed unlikely it would recover.
Given its current state, it might not wake up at all.
"If it doesn't wake up, the only one who knows what happened is that woman. I hope she pulls through too!"
...
Apologies for the slightly shorter chapter.
