Chapter 246: The Blue Crystal Shard
Chapter 246: The Blue Crystal Shard
In Nicolas Flamel's private library, Kyle sat at the table as usual, quietly perusing a book on alchemy. By his side, the house-elf Tata stood silently, and at the moment Kyle finished the last page, she promptly served a freshly made glass of lemonade.
"Thank you," Kyle said, taking a sip of the lemonade and letting out a satisfied sigh.
It had been a month since he arrived, and during this time, he had practically lived in the library, sometimes even having his meals delivered by Tata.
Although Nicolas Flamel hadn't taught him any alchemy knowledge, he had recommended numerous books suitable for beginners, which had also greatly benefited Kyle, leading to a qualitative leap in his alchemical skills.
This visible progress gave Kyle a deep sense of satisfaction.
Unfortunately, today was the day of his departure.
Reluctantly, Kyle handed the book to Tata and left the library alone.
In the great hall, Nicolas Flamel continued to immerse himself in the memory of an opera performance.
As Kyle approached, the orchestra finished playing the last note.
"I was just wondering when you'd come out," Nicolas said.
Nicolas put away his memories and slowly rose from the sun lounger, "Perenelle has been urging us to leave several times. We must return."
Perenelle was Nicolas's wife, but she preferred tending to the plants in their Devonshire garden, so she hadn't accompanied them on this trip to Paris.
"Are we leaving now?" Kyle asked.
"There's no rush," Nicolas said with a chuckle. "Before that, I need to check if you've been slacking off."
"Alright... Professor Nicolas," Kyle said.
Kyle took out a folded piece of parchment from his pocket and unfolded it in front of Nicolas, said, "Sure. Let's see what you've got."
The parchment was meticulously annotated with the location of every room in the house, and in the great hall, Kyle's name was prominently displayed.
"Is this a map?" Nicolas asked with interest.
"Yes," Kyle replied. "The original map was drawn by Tata, but I studied flight charm trajectory magic and some other interesting things, and finally created this."
Kyle took out his wand and pointed it at the parchment, whispering, "Library!"
A clear dotted line appeared on the parchment, connecting Kyle's name to the library.
Nicolas's eyes flashed, but he didn't speak, only lightly moving his fingers.
In an instant, the great hall seemed to come alive. The corridor behind Kyle began to slowly close, eventually merging into a wall.
Not only that, but even doors, windows, and other exits disappeared, turning the great hall into an enclosed space without any exits.
Nicolas looked at the map again.
The positions of the rooms on the map had also changed, but strangely, the dotted line connecting Kyle to the library still existed, only in a different direction.
The dotted line turned at the original corridor position and disappeared into the left wall.
"It seems your creation has failed," Nicolas said, pointing to the direction of the dotted line with a smile. "There's no exit there."
"Not necessarily, Nicolas," Kyle smiled back.
Following the map, Kyle approached the wall, took a deep breath, and walked straight into it.
Nothing happened, and just like Platform 9, Kyle passed through the wall and found himself in the familiar corridor.
And so, Niko emerged as well.
"Allow me to retract my previous assessment." He smiled and said, "Great work, you really didn't slack off."
"So can we go back now?"
"Of course." Niko took out two crystal shards, one blue and one red, "These are the keys. You can use them by infusing magic into them using alchemy."
Kyle stared intently at the blue crystal, identical to the Philosopher's Stone fragment, and opened his mouth, but in the end, he asked nothing.
Niko continued, "The red one can send you home, and the blue one will allow you to return to the library whenever you need to in the future."
"Return here again?" Kyle's voice rose unconsciously.
"Yes." Niko said, "I think you must have wondered why I invited you here."
Kyle remained silent for a moment, then nodded slightly.
Initially, he thought it was because of the Merlin Knight Order Medal, but if that were the only reason, he wouldn't have stayed this long.
Especially during a meal ten days ago, Niko's wife, Perenelle, had already started urging him to leave.
Kyle had prepared to go home, but unexpectedly, Niko refused, citing the need to watch an opera.
However, he hadn't left the house at all these days.

"Because I saw you coming here, I saw it two months ago." Niko said.
Two months ago... Wasn't Hogwarts still on vacation then?
Kyle thought for a moment, "Is it a prophecy?"
"Strictly speaking, it's not, but you can understand it that way." Niko smiled and winked, "Do you want to know what I saw?"
"No!" Kyle shook his head immediately.
Prophecies in the magical world are very strange. If you don't know, there may still be a chance to change the outcome, but once you know, it will definitely happen one day.
"Don't be so tense."
Niko waved his finger and restored the room to its original state.
"In fact, I only saw you come here twice, and nothing else.
But a voice in my head told me that you need that knowledge, and I should help you."
Hearing Niccolme say this, Kyle's expression relaxed a lot.
As long as it's not about asking Niccolme for help, it shouldn't be a big deal.
The last time he intervened was to... Oh yes, to save Paris.
The two returned to the Great Hall together.
"There's one more thing..."
Niko pointed to a box on the table next to him,
"It's a bit late, but happy birthday, kid."
Kyle suddenly remembered that today was August 5th, five days after his birthday.
"Thank you, Niko, what is this?"
"Didn't you say you wanted a box to store magical items?" Niko said, "I made it while watching the opera."
Kyle picked up the box and examined it carefully.
The box was heavy, with a dark golden surface and several golden symbols at the opening... Kyle quickly recognized them as symbols for preserving magic.
"That's great, I really need this." Kyle said happily.
"I'm glad you like it."
