Chapter 245: Security Defense
Chapter 245: Security Defense
Jing Li, wearing a protective suit that only corporate executives and government secretaries could afford, had the audacity to call himself a Wu Yi Academy trainee?
There must be some mistake with the information.
There was definitely another skilled Resonator backing him.
The situation had become complex. Cold sweat trickled down his back as he desperately tried to identify who was targeting him. Was it because of that shipment? Or had he failed to clean up after a high-profile figure's request?
He didn't expect a peaceful resolution. With the enemy at his doorstep, there was no way they'd let him off. He couldn't afford to joke around. Having gone this far, even if he backed down, the opponent wouldn't believe he'd let it go afterward. He had to see it through to the end!
It was either kill or be killed!
These thoughts flashed through his mind in an instant, his expression turning ferocious as he barked out orders, "Find a way to deal with him!"
The elite team members, upon hearing his command, formed a small squad formation. The front row immediately raised their defense shields, brandishing hammers and steel rods, while those behind them drew out extendable poles and long forks, slowly closing in on Chen Chuan from three directions.
Jing Li immediately instructed the Resonator beside him, "Find out his true identity!"
The Resonator knew he had made a mistake earlier. Without a word, he began searching, but each time he found something, it didn't match.
He understood that the Resonator backing their opponent was causing this chaos. This wasn't technically challenging; it was just a matter of preparing a large amount of similar information beforehand to disrupt. It was quite useful in this situation, unless a Non-Active Consciousness Entity helped analyze it. He cursed silently and continued his search.
After waiting for a while, Jing Li grew impatient and used his Boundary Token to contact others. Soon, he found a Resonator he had frequently collaborated with.
After establishing contact, a red glow flashed in his eyes as he said, "Do you see the person in front? Destroy his Boundary Token and Implant!"
Chen Chuan raised his Xuejun Blade slightly and walked towards these people. As he moved, he entered a state of fusion with his Second Self, causing everything around him to slow down.
Even with the advantage, the Fighter's instinct prevented him from charging head-on. Instead, he bypassed the front shields and opted for a side attack.
With the boost of extreme speed, the blade flashed, and two people were instantly cut down. But when he swung his third strike, a shield-wielding person on the side quickly moved to block the attack.
And it wasn't just him. Within a short moment, the remaining team members adjusted and matched Chen Chuan's movements.
This was because when these team members saw Chen Chuan disappear from their sight, the intense stimulation triggered their Implants to inject a special military-grade drug into their bodies, temporarily enhancing their physical abilities.
These military-grade drugs and Implants are almost essential for every elite team. Otherwise, a heavily invested team could be wiped out in an instant by a Tier Three Combatant, which would be a joke.
Jing Li suddenly saw a blur in front of him, and everyone's movements became hazy, clearly surpassing his visual capture range.
A chill ran down his spine.
This was a Tier Three Combatant! Tier Three Combatants are required to register with the public security department in Central City, and their travel plans must be reported, both domestically and internationally. This is because once fully armed, their destructive power is immense, posing a threat to anyone in a high position.
Jing Li shouted at the Resonator beside him, "Haven't you found his identity yet?"
"Just a little longer..."
The Resonator was helpless. The opponent was cunning, making full use of his preparations. He wasn't competing on skill but on time, and although he was gradually closing in, it would still take some time.
At that moment, another Resonator's voice reached Jing Li's ear, "He has no Implant, so we can't interfere."
"What about the Boundary Token?"
"His Boundary Token only receives one channel; all other functions are disabled."
Jing Li cursed, thought for a moment, and feeling unsafe, he returned to the car with the Resonator.
Chen Chuan wasn't surprised to see them match his speed in an instant. He had encountered such situations before, and if people in Yangzhi City could obtain these items, it would be even easier in Central City.
What was different, however, was that compared to those he had encountered before, every member of this team moved with remarkable coordination and astonishing mutual understanding.
Just as the shield blocked his strike, a long fork from behind thrust towards him, and a steel rod-wielding person raised their gun, aiming at his head. Not a single person hesitated due to their teammates' dire situation.
Chen Chuan also noticed that not only the squad in front but also the two squads behind were quickly adjusting and surrounding him.
Evidently, this team emphasized teamwork, and their combat strength was not weak. However, there were ways to deal with them. After all, their firearms posed no threat to him, and without long-range threats, he didn't need to rush forward. He could simply keep pulling or wait for the drug's effect to wear off.
Chen Chuan had no intention of waiting idly. He took a step back, keeping his arms steady, and with a subtle twist of his wrist, he deflected the incoming spear to the side.
The attacker halted their spear thrust but attempted to disarm Chen Chuan. In response, Chen tossed several stones, striking the helmets of the opposing team with such force that it felt like being hammered.
Before they could recover, Chen unleashed a sweeping blade, slicing through the team. Within moments, the once-cohesive group became a scattered mess of severed limbs.
A bystander, an unknown Resonator, watched in disbelief. These men had seemed capable of holding their ground against Chen Chuan, but in the blink of an eye, they were reduced to pieces. The swift transition between life and death left the onlooker with a sense of disorientation. After a moment of shock, he quietly retreated without a word.
Chen Chuan had dismembered an entire squad, yet his momentum didn't waver. He turned to face the remaining two squads, ready to repeat his actions.
Jing Li sat in the car, trembling with a mix of anger and fear as he witnessed the elite team he had painstakingly assembled and heavily invested in being effortlessly eliminated by Chen Chuan.
Before the final outcome was clear, Jing Li urged the driver, "Drive! Drive!"
Chen Chuan had already neutralized all threats in the area. He scanned the surroundings and noticed a vehicle starting up. Without hesitation, he sprinted towards it, kicking the rear bumper. The car spun out of control and flew into the air.
Chen followed up by kicking the underside of the car, causing it to flip over. It landed, rolled a couple of times, and came to a halt upside down on the street.
Jing Li, disoriented and in pain, felt blood trickling down his forehead. His implant, sensing the external stimulus, administered a dose of stimulant, allowing him to maintain consciousness.
Through the upside-down windshield, he saw a pair of feet approaching. He unbuckled his seatbelt, allowing himself to fall to the ground, and struggled to move to the other side of the car. He managed to open the door, crawl out, and escape, leaving the Resonator in the backseat unattended.
"Don't come any closer! Don't come any closer!" Jing Li pleaded as he scrambled out of the car, ignoring Chen Chuan's approach. "I signed a Class C Defense Agreement with the City Safety Defense Team. They're on their way. If you kill me, they'll arrest you too."
Wu Bei's voice sounded in his ear, "Chen, he's right. I just checked the signal he sent out. He has a Class C agreement with the city's security. If they're notified, the defense team will be dispatched immediately. They're already on their way and will arrive within ten minutes."
Jing Li swallowed nervously, "Chen, the City Defense Team specializes in handling violent incidents in the Central City. They're highly capable..."
Unfazed, Chen Chuan walked to the front of the car. As Jing Li tried to stand, Chen drew his Wu Ji Spear and fired several shots, striking Jing Li's back and head. Despite wearing protective gear, the bullets couldn't penetrate, and the hardened skull deflected the shots aimed at his head.
Chen Chuan, unperturbed, tossed a stone that struck Jing Li's head, causing him to collapse once more.
Chen walked over, grabbed Jing Li's leg, and dragged him a few steps before lifting and hurling him at the car.
The car's body dented, and Jing Li's body became embedded in it. His entrails and implant tissues mingled with blood and spilled from his mouth. The red glow in his eyes faded and went out.
Several kilometers away, a fleet of black armored vehicles was on the move. At that moment, they received a notification from a Non-Active Conscious Being:
"The Class C security service recipient has been confirmed deceased. The squad is advised to make independent decisions regarding further actions."
The security team leader scanned Chen Chuan's identity using a nearby Nexus. This time, Wu Bei didn't replace Chen's identity, so the updated information immediately appeared on his Boundary Token.
They first saw Chen Chuan's status as a Wu Yi Academy Student and the permits he held: "Weapons Permit, Armor Permit, Infinite Defense Permit..."
Then, they accessed his past records...
But a red warning flashed, indicating a violation of national secrets and a lack of clearance.
The security team leader, experienced in such matters, promptly deleted the information, shut down the communication channel, and ordered a retreat.
Less than half a minute after Jing Li's death, the security team turned around and headed back without hesitation.
After all, the Class C Security Agreement only guaranteed the safety of the service recipient, and with the client dead, they were no longer obligated to fulfill their duties.
Once the service was concluded, the company sent a message to the deceased Jing Li:
"If you have any concerns about the service provided, we recommend upgrading your security agreement or purchasing the following packages... City Security Company, your trusted provider of the most secure defense services."
