Chapter 244: The Five Great Villains are All Imposters
Chapter 244: The Five Great Villains are All Imposters
Xuan Yuan Sanguang swept his gaze across the room, taking in the six figures of the four Constellation members and the Ouyang brothers. Though his group had seven people, including themselves, there were still over a dozen black-clad individuals and a horde of venomous-looking rats on the opposing side.
Most importantly, Wei Wuya, the most formidable of the bunch, had not shown himself yet. Who knew where he was hiding and if he was planning an ambush?
This battle would be a tough one!
But tough or not, they were the Ten Great Villains, feared throughout the land. Who had they ever been afraid of?
Xuan Yuan Sanguang bellowed and, with a clenched fist, threw a punch at Ouyang Ding, who was directly in front of him. "This Buddhist hall is too cramped. Let's take it outside!"
Once they were in a more open space, the rats wouldn't be much of a threat.
Xuan Yuan Sanguang made the first move, and Tie Zhan followed suit with a mad roar. He unleashed his 'Madness of the 108 Strikes,' even more ferocious than the legendary Lu Zhishen's 'Crazy Demon Staff Technique.' He charged at Bai Shankun with a reckless abandon, seemingly uncaring for his life.
Ouyang Ding and Ouyang Dang simultaneously moved to block Xuan Yuan Sanguang. Though they were no match for him in a one-on-one fight, their combined efforts allowed them to gain the upper hand after five or six exchanges.
As one of the Twelve Constellations and a master second only to Wei Wuya, Bai Shankun's Tiger Claw technique was formidable. His battle with Tie Zhan, a clash of claw and fist, was too close to call for the time being.
Ma Yiyun's expression changed as she realized that what was supposed to be a confrontation against the Five Great Villains had suddenly become more complicated with the addition of two more powerful opponents. "Wei Lao Da, is your Rat Swarm Array useless against these rats?"
Before she could think further, she heard the dozen or so black-clad individuals whistle, but the sound that emerged was that of bamboo pipes.
In the next moment, hundreds of rats scurried out from the windows, doors, cracks in the walls, and holes in the ground, all rushing towards the Great Villains in the Buddhist hall.
Xuan Yuan Sanguang and Tie Zhan, who had been waiting to witness the prowess of Du Sha and the other four Great Villains, were stunned as they watched the imposters cry out and scramble for higher ground. Some jumped onto the altars, others climbed the statues, and a few leaped onto the rafters, all the while kicking, punching, and launching hidden weapons at the oncoming rodents. Their martial arts skills, though not terrible, were a far cry from the genuine Five Great Villains—like the difference between heaven and earth.
Xuan Yuan Sanguang stood there, mouth agape. "You..."
"They're fakes!"
The speaker was Hu Yaoshi, his eyes bright with realization as he laughed heartily. "They're imposters!"
"May you all be cursed by our ancestors!" Xuan Yuan Sanguang roared in anger. "Who are you, and how dare you impersonate Du Sha and those bastards?"
The fake Li Dazui, his voice quivering, replied pitifully, "Xuan Yuan Sir, I am Yue Laoxi. Miss Tu disguised and made me up to look like this. We came here for the treasure, never expecting to run into the two of you!"
Xuan Yuan Sanguang had no idea who Yue Laoxi was, but from his tone, he could tell he was a lackey that the Five Great Villains had brought along from Villain Valley. He must have followed them on this journey.
"Where are those five bastards?" Xuan Yuan Sanguang demanded.
"They're on the mountain!" Fake Tu Jiaojiao kicked a rat away, her voice shaking. "Why are there so many rats?"
"That shorty Wei Wuya is just a damn rat himself. If he's not playing with rats, is he playing with sows?"
Xuan Yuan Sanguang bellowed in anger, and the dozen or so black-clad individuals turned their gazes toward him, their eyes flashing with fury. The whistling changed tune, and the rats surrounded him.
Already occupied with fending off the Ouyang brothers, Xuan Yuan Sanguang was startled by the sudden onslaught of rodents. He let out a startled cry and, with all his might, pushed the brothers back, retreating himself in the process.
Fortunately, the Ouyang brothers didn't have the scent of rats on them, so the swarm of rodents halted their advance, giving the brothers no choice but to retreat as well, unable to pursue.
The imposter of Ha Ha'er was skilled in hidden weapons, and the silver needles he threw took out quite a few rats. However, as the rats continued to multiply, the sight of their emerald eyes made his scalp tingle. He couldn't help but call out for help, "Xuan Yuan Sir, Iron Sir, save me!"
"Save your damn turtle grandson's life, you big-headed ghost!" Xuan Yuan Sanguang cursed. "Why didn't you tell us earlier?"
Fake Xiao Mimmi whimpered, "We dared not!"
Xuan Yuan Sanguang sidestepped and leaped onto the statue, grabbing the fake Du Sha by the shoulder. He shouted at Tie Zhan, who was still locked in battle with Bai Shankun, "Old Madman, stop fighting! You're being used by Du Sha and Tu Jiaojiao. Bai Shankun and the others aren't even targeting us!"
Ma Yiyun, seeing that Bai Shankun and Tie Zhan had exchanged dozens of moves without either gaining the upper hand, grew concerned for her husband. "Mr. Tie, you don't have any treasure or secret manuals with you. Why risk your life?"
Bai Shankun swept his Tiger Claw, forcing Tie Zhan back two steps, before leaping out of the fray.
Tie Zhan's hair stood on end, but he didn't pursue. Instead, he grabbed the fake Li Dazui by the arm and pulled him close. His eyes blazed with fury as he asked, "Where are those five cowards?"
Facing Tie Zhan, who resembled a fierce lion, the fake Li Dazui was so scared he couldn't utter a word.
Bai Shankun waved at the black-clad individuals, and they stopped whistling. The hundreds of rats froze in place but continued to stare menacingly at the group.
Xian Guo Shenjun let out a strange laugh, resembling a large ape as he leaped and pulled the fake Xiao Mimmi down from the rafters. He placed his sharp monkey claws against her throat and demanded, "Talk! Where's the real Xiao Mimmi?"
"She's in... she's in a secret valley on Mount Jiuhua," the fake Xiao Mimmi stammered. "The treasure and secret manuals we took from Mount Emei are all there!"
"They don't trust each other, so they're all waiting in their original spots," Bai Shankun scoffed. "Five cowards, all useless!"
Though ashamed and angry, the fake Du Sha and the others dared not refute. Bai Shankun's fearsome reputation, coupled with the barely restrained anger of Xuan Yuan Sanguang and Tie Zhan, left them no room to argue.
"You know where that secret valley is, don't you?" Ma Yiyun asked with a bewitching smile.
"...Yes!"
Bai Shankun clenched his fists and glanced at Xuan Yuan Sanguang and Tie Zhan, contemplating whether to take them out right here and now.
"Damn those five bastards! Using imposters and making me take the lead!" Tie Zhan cursed, still gripping the fake Li Dazui. "Take me to them. I'll beat each one of them to a pulp!"
Bai Shankun remained silent. This Tie Zhan was a powerful fighter and a madman to boot. It would be better to let him go and create chaos among the Five Great Villains than to take him down here.
Bai Shankun's silence was noted by Xuan Yuan Sanguang, who naturally refrained from making any further moves. Besides, he was angry too. If these imposters had revealed the truth earlier, they wouldn't have been cornered by rats in the Buddhist hall.
Xuan Yuan Sanguang leaped down from the statue, still gripping the fake Du Sha by the shoulder. "Take us to them!" he demanded angrily.
"Okay, we..."
Before the fake Du Sha could finish, strange happenings occurred outside the Buddhist hall.
