Chapter 243: The Ouyang Brothers Appear with their Backers
Chapter 243: The Ouyang Brothers Appear with their Backers
Two burly men arrived at the ruins of the Huicang Sect and, after a brief discussion, found a place to hide among the remnants. However, they didn't even bother to cover their tracks.
Lianxing chuckled, "These two fellows are quite interesting."
Jiang Feng nodded, "They are straightforward and honest. They should be the type of heroes you'd find in the jianghu, but unfortunately, they took the wrong path. One forces others to gamble, and the other forces battles. They ended up forcing themselves into the ranks of the Ten Great Villains."
In the original novel, Xuanyuan Sanguang forced others to gamble away their possessions and even their wives as soon as he appeared, and Tie Zhan, though a background character, was no good man either. However, as the story progressed, one became a friend of Xiaoyuer, and the other turned out to be Tie Xinlan's father, and they were both redeemed.
But this was not the case in the current story. The fact that these two could be classified as the Ten Great Villains, despised by all, was a testament to how extreme their actions must have been and how many innocent people must have suffered because of them.
However, the original novel's narrative lens still softened their image to some extent, and both Yao Yue and Lianxing could hear the hint of regret in Jiang Feng's words.
These two fellows could still be saved.
Whether they would have the opportunity to redeem themselves, however, depended on the hidden constellations and the righteous martial arts world and whether they would spare their lives.
Just then, they heard footsteps approaching from the end of the mountain path.
Soon, Du Sha, Li Dazui, Haha'er, Tu Jiaojiao, and Xiao Mimiao arrived together.
The five of them hesitated as they carefully made their way to the Huicang Sect's ruins. Before they could even enter, two large men appeared, one on the left and one on the right.
"Boss Du, old pals!"
Xuanyuan Sanguang, with Tie Zhan backing him up, felt less nervous. "Long time no see!"
"Li Dazui, Tu Jiaojiao!"
Tie Zhan, who despised Haha'er for his constant fake laughter and Xiao Mimiao for relying only on her beauty to entice others, only greeted Li Dazui and Tu Jiaojiao. "Why didn't you call me when you went to grab the martial arts secrets in Emei Mountain?"
Du Sha and the others were stunned. They never expected to encounter these two large men here, and their appearances were so distinctive.
"Xuanyuan Sanguang?"
"Mad Lion Tie Zhan?"
"How... How are you two here?"
"It's all those damn flies and bloodsuckers bothering me," Xuanyuan Sanguang complained. "Ever since you lot killed a bunch of martial artists in Emei Mountain and took half of Ouyang Ting's treasure, a bunch of jianghu folks have been looking for me, asking about your whereabouts!"
Tu Jiaojiao couldn't help but ask, "Did you tell them?"
"How could I? Am I that unprincipled?" Xuanyuan Sanguang said. "But I was so damn annoyed, and there were a few decent fighters among them. So after shaking them off, I came to find you to settle the score... Cough, I mean, I came to find you."
Tie Zhan nodded and held out his hand. "You lot have caused me trouble, too. I've been chased by assassins and haven't been able to stay at home with my wife and kids. So hand over half of what you found in Emei Mountain. I want to see those martial arts secrets!"
Xiao Mimiao was shocked, looking at Tie Zhan's massive frame, which was almost as wide as he was tall. "You have kids?"
Tie Zhan glared at Xiao Mimiao. "What's it to you? If you want kids, go seduce some rich kid and have your own. Don't bother me!"
Xiao Mimiao was left speechless, unable to respond to his rebuke.
Du Sha, Li Dazui, Haha'er, and Tu Jiaojiao fell silent as they stared at Tie Zhan's outstretched hand, which was as large as a fan.
Du Sha, his face still stern, took a deep breath and replied, "Those manuals are not with us."
"I know they're not on your persons," Tie Zhan said. "Where did you hide the treasure? I'm coming with you to see those manuals!"
Li Dazui glanced up at the mountain.
"You really hid the treasure up there?" Xuanyuan Sanguang exclaimed. "Aren't you tired from carrying it all the way up?"
Li Dazui stuck out his tongue, then his eyes lit up as he retorted, "The mountain is high and the forest dense; it's the perfect hiding spot. If we left it by the roadside, someone would've picked it up by now."
Xuanyuan Sanguang blinked, then nodded slowly, "That... actually makes sense."
"What did this fatso come here for anyway?" Tie Zhan finally turned to Haha'er.
The group looked at Tie Zhan, speechless. They thought to themselves that he seemed even fatter than Haha'er, yet he had the nerve to call him fat.
Haha'er, however, was unfazed. He looked up to the sky and let out a bizarre, resounding laugh. "It's not really anything valuable. Just a few Buddhist treasures passed down by my master's sect."
Xuanyuan Sanguang scoffed, "Pft, treasures my foot." Mentally, he acknowledged that Tie Zhan's intimidating presence was indeed greater than Haha'er's.
Hearing Haha'er's response, Tie Zhan urged, "Then hurry up and get it!"
The group entered the remains of the Huicang Sect and made their way to a Buddhist hall within.
Haha'er fiddled behind the Buddhist statue for a while until he found the mechanism. With a gentle twist, a gap opened in the shrine, revealing a large bundle.
"This is it..."
"Squeak! Squeak! Squeak... Squeak! Squeak! Squeak!"
Just then, a group of rats scurried into the hall, surrounding them. Accompanied by raucous laughter, a pair of fat men, not too dissimilar from Haha'er in appearance, appeared at the entrance of the hall.
"Ouyang Ding! Ouyang Dang!"
The villains cried out in unison, then peered through the windows to see figures dressed in black, their eyes glowing a sinister shade of green like rats in the night.
Soon, a burly man, a seductive woman, a tall and slender man, and a skinny, shriveled dwarf appeared at the entrance behind the Ouyang brothers.
"Bai Shan Jun! Ma Yiyun!"
"Hu Yaoshi! Xian Guo Shen Jun!"
Xuanyuan Sanguang was taken aback as he looked at the Ouyang brothers. "You're hanging out with this group of robbers from the Twelve Constellation now?"
Ouyang Ding chuckled, "Who can we blame but Du Sha for his lack of brotherhood, refusing to share the treasure and secrets with us?"
Ouyang Dang chimed in, "You know what kind of people we are. How could we possibly swallow this insult?"
Ouyang Ding continued, "So we went to find Wei Wuya, planning to join forces to destroy the Ten Great Villains."
Ouyang Dang concluded, "From then on, there will be no more Ten Great Villains. We, the brothers, will be the Golden Ox and the Silver Sheep of the Twelve Constellation."
Du Sha's group turned pale.
However, Tie Zhan scoffed and clenched his fists, his eyes fixed on Bai Shan Jun, brimming with fighting intent. "A traitor has emerged among the Ten Great Villains. Today, we settle the score with the Twelve Constellation!"
