Chapter 242: Farewell
Chapter 242: Farewell (Subscriptions, Favorites, Votes)
"Really, thank you so much, Teacher." Liam bowed deeply to Rogen after stepping out of the Magic Array.
"No need to thank me", Rogen waved his hand. "As your mentor, it's my duty. If you really want to show your gratitude, bring me some specialties and knowledge from other worlds when you visit next time."
After completing the Ascension Ritual, Liam spent three full days adapting to his new situation. Three days later, he said goodbye to Rogen and his daughter at the Manor's entrance.
"We're going to travel around the European Continent", Rogen said from the driver's seat of the carriage. "So, it's best to come back in three months. By then, we should be back. Oh, and here's a notebook on Puppet-making. This is my strongest area in alchemy, so I hope you'll study it well."
Rogen handed another black leather notebook to Liam, then gave a casual wave. The two Mechanical Horses, which looked almost like real horses, started to run. Alice and the Mercury Lamp opened the window and waved to Liam. "Goodbye, Liam, see you next time." Even the Robot Helen, who had been packed into the trunk, opened the lid and waved a mechanical hand at Liam.
"Goodbye, see you next time. I'll bring you some interesting things from other worlds as gifts when I come back", Liam waved continuously as the carriage slowly disappeared into the morning mist.
Once the carriage was completely out of sight, Liam returned to the Multiverse General Store.
As soon as he got back to the Multiverse General Store, a voice reminded him, "Major plot twist, 57 Deviation Points earned."
"Seems the higher the world's level, the more Deviation Points you get for making the same magnitude of changes. I should be more adventurous in choosing worlds from now on", Liam thought as he placed the two notebooks on the shelves. As soon as the notebooks were on the shelves, Liam asked, "How many Deviation Points do I need to learn everything in them?"
"15 Deviation Points." This was much less than Liam had expected, so he blurted out, "How can it be so few? I thought it would take at least 30 Deviation Points."
Liam didn't really expect an answer, but the System replied, "Because the System owner's body is fully compatible, this enhancement only involves the transmission of knowledge related to the Extraordinary. Therefore, it doesn't require many Deviation Points."
"Is that so—wait, why are you answering my questions now?" Liam realized.
"Because the System owner has traversed multiple worlds and gathered enough knowledge. The System Encyclopedia has now been activated, allowing it to answer some of your questions. Each time you ask the System, there's a chance it will respond, and the answers are likely to be correct."
Liam: ( ̄. ̄).
Not knowing what to say, Liam sat down in a chair and gestured for the System to start the knowledge infusion.
This knowledge infusion was no different from the previous ones. After confirming he was in good condition, Liam chose to return to Hogwarts.
He had spent nearly two months in the Rosary Maiden world. When he returned to his bed, the time disorientation that had slowly faded came back. Fortunately, with his previous experience, the impact was minimal. After washing his face with cold water from the sink in the bathroom, Liam calmed down and left the bathroom.
Checking the time, he saw it was still early in the morning. Liam decided to go back to sleep. He climbed into bed and quickly fell asleep.
As the exams drew near, Liam stopped learning new knowledge and focused entirely on preparing for the exams and integrating his old knowledge. Although he hadn't learned anything new during this period, he felt his strength had increased by at least half.
That morning, he was reviewing Arithmancy in the Library, casually releasing tiny runes from his fingertips and making them spin around to practice his control over his overall power. Suddenly, Hermione stormed in, a piece of parchment in her hand.
"What's wrong?" Liam quickly dispersed the runes and whispered.
"Look at this note, Harry gave it to me." Hermione handed over the parchment.
"Buckbeak's appeal is set for the sixth, and the Ministry of Magic will send—a executioner? So they've already decided?"
"Right, it looks like our backup plan will come in handy." Hermione said slowly. "Harry and Ron are still in disbelief. They think that with all the preparation and evidence, there might still be a chance. But when I came in, I saw Malfoy gloating. Knowing the Malfoy family, they are determined to have Buckbeak killed."
"I'll contact Mr. Wolfe today and inform him of the trial date. That way, he and his friends can prepare in advance." Liam leaned in closer to Hermione, making sure no one else was listening.
During lunch, Liam sent a message to Aunt Betty through the Emerald Dream. That evening, Aunt Betty replied, informing Liam that at least four Unicorns would be waiting at their last meeting place on the sixth, led by the Unicorn Leader. The Unicorns also conveyed their willingness to help save an innocent life.
With this reassurance, Liam felt more at ease. He had missed the Hippogriff lesson when he went to Brazil for an exchange program. Once this big fellow was in the Forbidden Forest, maybe he could experience the feeling of being a Sky Knight.
However, Liam didn't dwell on the idea of being a Sky Knight for long because Hogwarts' annual exam week had begun, and the castle was unusually quiet. This was a stark contrast to the usual noise and commotion, which Liam found a bit unsettling.
The first exam for third-year students was Transfiguration. When everyone emerged from the Transfiguration class, many were covered in soot, and even more were comparing their scores, lamenting the difficulty of the tasks.
Fortunately, Nymph's Transfiguration Book had significantly improved Liam's skills, so he performed exceptionally well. For instance, one of the tasks was to turn a teapot into a turtle, and he successfully transformed it into a turtle that looked just like a real Brazilian turtle. Even the usually strict Professor Mcgonagall nodded in approval.
"I don't know why I ended up with a sea turtle. I hope they don't deduct points because it's too small", Hermione said, somewhat dissatisfied as she came out. But her comment was quickly overshadowed by the fact that many of the students around her had turned their teapots into teapot-mouthed turtles or steam-emitting turtles. Hermione's remark drew some envy.
After lunch, they had the Charms exam, which most students did well on. However, Ron was less fortunate. Harry made a minor mistake while casting a spell, causing Ron to laugh uncontrollably. He was sent to an empty classroom to wait until he could complete his exam an hour later.
For the rest of the day, Liam, Hermione, and a dozen other students from different houses took the Arithmancy exam. Few students chose this elective, and the exam was rather tedious, mostly involving writing and calculations. Fortunately, the questions were within the review range, and Liam felt confident he could pass.
"Hopefully, the exams tomorrow will go just as smoothly." As he lay in bed that night, Liam thought to himself.
