Chapter 242: Duel with Snape
Chapter 242: Duel with Snape
Nighttime,
In the Defense Against the Dark Arts office, Ivan arrived half an hour early, drank the Polyjuice Potion, and transformed into Lockhart's appearance.
"cloak, gloves, ring! And the Wand!" Ivan frowned at his reflection in the Mirror, then extended his hand to the side.
Lockhart handed over his three pieces of showmanship gear, but hesitated when it came to the Wand, saying unwillingly, "Why do you even need my Wand? If I give it to you, what am I supposed to do?"
"If you don't want me to be exposed, then hand everything over!" Ivan rolled his eyes, then looked at Lockhart, who had transformed into his own appearance with the Polyjuice Potion, and warned, "And you'd better stay in your office and not go anywhere!"
"How can that be? I don't want to miss such an important moment. Give me your Wand, what if another Professor calls me up to the stage?" Lockhart raised an eyebrow.
Ivan shook his head, realizing there was nothing he could do about it, and handed him a Protective ring.
As for his own Unicorn Wand, Ivan did not intend to give it to Lockhart. Fortunately, he still had a Dragon Heartstring Wand, which he had taken from Aisha and never returned.
Now it could be used by Lockhart, although Ivan still cautioned him not to go on stage and ruin his reputation.
On the way to the location of the Duelling Club, Ivan noticed that the decorations in the Great Hall had changed significantly from the last time.
The banners of the Four Houses hung high in the air, fluttering gently in the breeze. Four tall stages were placed in the center, ensuring that most students would have the opportunity to show off their skills throughout the night.
Ivan was certain this wasn't Lockhart's idea, because that guy would only set up one stage to keep all the attention on himself.
"Wow, so many people have come", Ivan observed the crowded Great Hall, a bit surprised. The number of young Wizards who had come tonight seemed even greater than last time.
He had thought that yesterday's attack might affect the Duelling Club's event tonight.
As Ivan was thinking this, a gentle voice sounded behind him.
"Everyone is very worried, so they want to know how to protect themselves."
Ivan turned around to see a familiar figure in a Ravenclaw robe.
"Luna, cough, cough", Ivan nearly slipped up, but he quickly remembered that Lockhart and Luna weren't that familiar, so he corrected himself, "Miss Lovegood, what you said is very reasonable. Yes, this is why I organized the Duelling Club."
"By the way, Miss Lovegood, is there something you need from me?" Ivan was curious why Luna had come to see Lockhart; she wasn't one of his fans.
Luna's silvery-gray eyes studied him for a moment, then she suddenly pointed to his right wrist.
Ivan looked down, puzzled, and noticed the Magic ring on his wrist.
"So that's why", Ivan sighed, realizing that despite his caution, he had still been exposed due to the Magic ring.
"I noticed you always wear it, so I guessed you wouldn't give it to someone else. Also, the real Professor Lockhart would immediately go up on stage to make sure everyone could see him first", Luna continued, pointing out the inconsistencies in Ivan's disguise, which she found as intriguing as solving a puzzle.
"I'm glad not every student is as smart as you, otherwise I might as well go back home." Ivan said helplessly, but Luna clearly pointed out the shortcomings in his disguise.
Thinking about this, Ivan took off the Magic Bracelet from his right wrist and, under Luna's surprised gaze, placed it on her wrist.
"You made a mistake just now. I would hand this over to someone else for safekeeping if necessary!"
"You can use its power during the duelling class, but in exchange, you have to cover for me when others ask." Ivan said with a smile.
There were plenty of smart young Wizards at Hogwarts, and the professors were not easy to deal with either. Many people would have noticed the bracelet on his right wrist.
Leaving it with Luna could be explained as temporarily lending it to her.
*Whoosh!*
After making the agreement with Luna, Ivan raised his Wand and shot a beam of Magic Power into the air, which exploded mid-air, showering colorful sparks down.
"I'm glad to see so many of you here today!" Ivan, having captured everyone's attention, adjusted his expression and walked up to the stage, looking around and speaking loudly.
"I'm sure you've all heard about yesterday's attack and are worried, hoping to learn some defensive magic in today's class. This is the very reason this duelling course was set up!"
"But I want to tell you that, besides practicing your spellcasting skills to improve your strength, it's even more important to remain vigilant at all times!
Many dark Wizards may appear harmless, and some might even offer you help to gain your trust. The same goes for certain dark magical items.
I once heard a saying: don't trust anything with a mind of its own unless you know exactly where its brain is located."
Ivan's gaze swept over the crowd, observing everyone's expressions and actions, and noting them down in his mind.
However, Ivan didn't dare to be too explicit. He could only offer a hint through Lockhart's identity, advising them to be cautious in their daily lives, preferably traveling in groups of three or five, and to come to him immediately if they noticed anything unusual!
After his speech, Ivan noticed that the young Wizards were half-asleep, with only a few taking his words to heart. The professors, however, looked at him with newfound respect, nodding frequently.
"Alright, it seems you're not very interested in what I have to say. Let's get started with today's class then." Ivan shrugged helplessly and said loudly.
"Next, please welcome your Potion professor and Slytherin Head of House, Snape, to be my opponent! We will demonstrate what a true Wizard duel looks like!"
As Ivan finished speaking, the drowsy young Wizards suddenly became much more alert, their eyes fixed on the other side of the platform, eagerly awaiting Snape's appearance.
A duel between two professors was extremely rare, and everyone was speculating who would emerge victorious.
