Chapter 241: Maxim and the Silver-Haired Girl
Chapter 241: Maxim and the Silver-Haired Girl
Kyle, who was studying the golden symbols, turned his head and looked in the direction of the voice. Only then did he notice that, besides himself, there were two other people in the grand hall chatting leisurely.
The speaker was MacFay, who had delivered the Order of the Merlin Medal to Hogwarts just a week ago.
The one he was talking to was a tall witch—that description seemed like an understatement.
Even sitting down, she was two or three meters tall. MacFay was already exceptionally tall, but he looked like a child in front of her.
Kyle had only seen one person who could rival this witch in size, and that was Hagrid. Their heights were almost indistinguishable.
However, unlike the rugged Hagrid, this woman had a delicate face, large and dark eyes, a pointed nose, and hair pulled back into a shiny knot at the nape of her neck.
She wore an exquisite peacock blue satin robe, and her neck and thick fingers glittered with many opulent opals.
As Kyle looked over, she was handing two Knuts to MacFay... The coins looked like tiny soybeans in her hands.
"Fuyong just doesn't understand the Philosopher's Stone fragments," she said in a deep voice. "And seeking clues is also a display of wisdom."
"Ha..." MacFay didn't refute, merely accepting the two Knuts with a hint of pride.
"Don't mind him, child. Ollivanders means no harm," said a white-haired elder as he walked up to Kyle. "In fact, we all know that your choice is the right one.
After using the door key, the magic in those fragments will dissipate, and they will eventually become useless stones."
Unlike the others, the elder was not dressed formally. Instead, he was quite fashionable.
He wore a light blue floral shirt, orange beach shorts, and a large pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses.
This outfit... all he needed was a water gun.
"Mr. Ollivander."
"Oh, I'm glad you recognized me, Nicodemus," Ollivander said with a smile, extending his hand. "Just call me Nico. Everyone does. It makes me feel much younger."
To Nicodemus, who was over six hundred years old, there was little difference between being one hundred and twenty or twelve.
"Ni...co," Kyle nodded slightly, though he felt a bit awkward. He reached out and shook his hand gently.
Kyle's movement was very light, as if he were touching tofu... Nicodemus wasn't much firmer than tofu at the moment.
At this time, the others also came over.
"Nice to meet you again, child," MacFay said, leading the way. "Welcome to Paris. This is Nico's old house, and I'd like to introduce you to Madam Maxime, the headmistress of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.
After hearing that you were coming to Paris, she specially rushed here from her private estate in the Pyrenees."
Kyle looked up and addressed her as directly as he could. "It's an honor to meet you, Madam Maxime."
"Hello, child," Maxime glanced at Kyle. "Are you interested in transferring to Beauxbatons?"
Kyle was stunned. He didn't expect such a direct attack from this person.
He shook his head slightly, "Hogwarts is fine, and my friends are all there."
"What a pity," Maxime thought for a moment. "But if they want to, they can transfer to Beauxbatons with you..."
"Hey, Ollivanders, that's not allowed," MacFay said discontentedly. "This child obviously prefers to study at Hogwarts."
What a guy! Not only was he trying to poach students from Dumbledore's school in his absence, but he was also trying to take a whole string of them. Just think about it. Anyone who could be friends with Kyle must be an outstanding student as well.
Maxime looked at Kyle again. "So, child, would you like to transfer? I assure you, you'll have a wonderful time at Beauxbatons. We have even better professors than Hogwarts, and you can make new friends there."
"Um..."
Kyle paused slightly, thinking about how to refuse politely.
After all, he still had the giant snake waiting for him back at Hogwarts—a precious legacy from Slytherin, one of the four great Hogwarts founders. How could he possibly consider transferring to another school?
Did Beauxbatons have a giant snake like that?
No! They only had an insignificant crystal astronomy tower.
"I'm sorry, but..."
"Don't be too quick to refuse, child..."
A cunning glint flashed in Maxime's eyes. "My offer stands until you leave this place."
MacFay seemed to have realized something, and he said with annoyance, "Oh, damn, how could I forget about that girl with Veela blood? No wonder you brought her along too!"
Maxime smiled but remained silent.
He leaned towards Kyle and whispered, "Child, do you have any Pepper-Up Potion or Wake-Up Potion with you?"
"No," Kyle shook his head.
Headmaster Sassiah had given him almost every common potion, except for the Pepper-Up Potion and Wake-Up Potion.
Since he didn't usually need those two potions, he naturally didn't carry them with him.
"Oh... Then we have a problem. Well, let me show you around the neighborhood..."
"Dug!" Maxime smiled at him. "You can't make decisions for him. Even if Dumbledore were here, he wouldn't take this child away!"
"But he's not here!"
MacFay looked at Kyle, then at the smiling Maxime, and scowled as he ruffled his hair. "Merlin's beard, I shouldn't have come today!"
"Dug, I have potion ingredients and a crucible that you can borrow if you need them," Nico offered with a smile.
He had been watching from the sidelines without interfering, and now he looked like he was enjoying the show.
MacFay sighed. "I guess that's the only option. I hope it's not too late..."
"I shouldn't have come today!"
He complained again, then turned to Kyle and instructed earnestly, "Before I return, child, you must stay alert and keep a clear head, no matter what you see. This is important."
With that, he hurried into one of the rooms at the back of the hall.
Maxime didn't stop him.
Just then, a girl appeared out of thin air in the middle of the hall.
She wore a long robe of peacock-blue silk, and her silvery hair flowed like a waterfall to her waist.
Her deep blue eyes were more beautiful than the magically enhanced ceiling, and they exuded an indescribable charm.
Maxime's smile widened as she took the girl's hand and led her to Kyle.
"Allow me to introduce Fleur Delacour, Beauxbatons' most outstanding student."
"It's all over... It's completely over..." MacFay covered his face with his hand and muttered, "Albus, I'm sorry..."
Nico sat in the best spot to watch the show, and somehow, he now had a bucket of freshly made popcorn in his hands.
However, much to everyone's surprise, Kyle didn't react as they had expected. Instead of looking dazed and entranced, he calmly extended his hand and said, "Nice to meet you. You can call me Kyle."
