Chapter 241: As Long as This Island Prosers
Chapter 241: As Long as This Island Prosers
As soon as Kuro finished speaking, his figure vanished from the spot.
Gardi across from him narrowed his eyes, instinctively stepping in front of Poropa with his sword raised to block.
Clang!
The sword blade was struck by a black blade, sparking as their edges met. Gardi clenched his weapon in one hand, unleashing a silver slash—but before the slash could fully form, it was dispersed by the Black Blade's strike.
Clang!
Gardi exerted force to shove the blade pressing against his aside. His expression darkened as he glared at Kuro. "You're the true master of this blade!"
It was different—completely different.
As a swordsman, Gardi could clearly sense it.
Earlier, he'd assumed the blade's master was that white-haired young girl, who hadn't shown any signs of sword mastery. But the moment this man took hold of Autumn Water, its aura had completely changed.
This one was stronger than him!
"Master..."
Gardi stepped back, fully shielding the diminutive Poropa behind him. His voice grew heavy. "You need to leave now. This opponent is too strong."
"Do I really need to run? I have so many masterpieces—" Poropa began.
Boom!
Weapons and island fragments continued raining down, reducing the entire upper city's fortresses to ruins.
After a moment's silence, Poropa sighed. "You're right. I'll retreat first. Stop him, Gardi."
With that, he dashed into the rubble behind him and disappeared inside.
"A hidden tunnel?"
Kuro's Observation Haki detected Poropa's aura sinking downward. His eyes widened slightly as his body floated upward, following that aura.
Whoosh!
A wisp of silver slash lashed out from the ground. Before it could reach Kuro, a shadow abruptly leapt into the air. Spinning mid-air, his leg carved a wide arc from behind.
"Iron Body!"
The toe of his boot surged forward, unleashing a crescent slash that collided with the silver one. A thunderous boom echoed as the slashes clashed and dispersed.
Klah landed lightly on the ground, pushing his glasses up with his palm. He tilted his head back, smirking disdainfully at Gardi.
Gardi inhaled deeply, his eyes radiating cold killing intent. "Don't get in my way, Navy!"
"That's impossible", Klah said smoothly. "Human physical constitutions aren't comparable. Kuro Mr.'s wrath is unlike anything you'd understand. If we don't act, I'd be terrified."
"Then I'll kill you first!" Gardi raised his longsword in front of him.
"Hey Klah, are you sure you can handle this? Our opponent isn't weak", Lida asked cautiously.
"Perfect timing for an experiment." Klah's figure crouched slightly. "Superspeed Shave!"
Zooom!
His form vanished in a burst of dust. Gardi's eyes widened as he slashed backward with his sword.
"Wolf Claw!"
Clang!
The blade met a row of razor claws. The pressure from those claws cleaved through the longsword's lower arc, carving five deep gashes into the ground.
Klah had transformed—his upper face now resembled a wolf's snout, his hands and feet covered in black fur. His fingers and toes had elongated, ending in long claws that gleamed coldly.
A beastman form.
"Zoan Devil Fruit user", Gardi muttered darkly, using his arm to shove Klah aside while swiftly redirecting his longsword into a triangular strike.
"Don't underestimate me!" Klah lashed a claw toward the longsword. "The Devil Fruit user version of me isn't the weak human I was before!"
He aimed to seize the blade directly, but as his claws reached the sword, the slender longsword vanished. Instead, three glowing edges formed a triangular pattern around Klah.
"Ghost Slash!"
The triangle completely encircled Klah, leaving him no escape route.
"Iron Body!" Klah withdrew his arms, crossing them protectively. His body tensed.
Shhik!
Two blood trails appeared across Klah's shoulder and waist, slicing through his fur. Narrowing his eyes, Klah retaliated with a claw strike. Simultaneously, Gardi quickly withdrew his sword, thrusting the tip toward Klah's chest.
Pah!
Shhik!
Klah staggered backward, his claws trailing blood, while a small crimson hole bloomed in his chest.
"Don't underestimate me", Gardi gripped his sword, surveying the claw mark on his chest. "This blade, Famous Blade Coldde, has an eerie nature. You'll never predict my attack angles. This time it was your chest. Next, I'll pierce your throat."
"You can't predict my dodges that easily!" Klah raised his clawed hand to his lips, extending his tongue to lick the blood. "Next time, I'll pierce your chest!"
"Ghost Slash!"
This time, Gardi's longsword traced an irregular quadrilateral shape toward Klah.
No one had ever blocked his techniques before.
As a two-time veteran, Gardi had served on Moe Island since his youth. Once a knight, he'd become the island's supreme authority after Poropa's arrival. His skill naturally matched his status.
His blade had laid low countless rulebreakers across this land—these intruders would be no exception.
"Moe Island's prosperity won't be destroyed by you!" Gardi roared.
Shhik!
Gardi froze mid-strike, staring down in disbelief as a black claw pierced straight through his chest like a longsword.
"I told you—I'd pierce your chest next!" Klah's lips curled. "I've already analyzed your fighting style and habits."
This was 'Moon Wolf'—by absorbing an opponent's blood, he could comprehend their entire being.
No matter how unpredictable the angle, unless it was an overwhelming strike, Klah could evade.
Unfortunately for Gardi, even his strength or speed couldn't overwhelm Klah's current beastman form. If anything, Klah's physical prowess had surpassed his.
Understanding Gardi's fighting patterns rendered him as helpless as a skinned lamb.
One strike was all it took.
Gardi trembled slightly. As he began raising his arm, Klah withdrew his claw and kicked him powerfully into the air.
"I already told you—whatever you do now, I'll know."
Klah shook blood from his claws onto the ground.
Gardi crashed to the ground, gasping heavily before using his longsword to push himself upright.
"That strike shouldn't..." Klah's eyes widened. He'd poured immense force into that blow—enough to destroy the heart. Yet Gardi still stood, seemingly retaining combat capability.
"Will not let you pass. I will never allow it!"
Gardi steadied himself, his voice resolute. "This island's prosperity exists because of Master. Without him, chaos would reign. The lawbreakers would turn this island into hell. You... you're creating hell!"
"Eh? But isn't your Master recklessly taking lives too? Won't people in this village die by his command?" Lida asked, confused.
Gardi glanced at her. "Accepting prosperity demands sacrifice. Even if Master kills one person daily, that's only 365 deaths yearly. Without him, this island would become completely desolate. I only care about making this island thrive. Human lives mean nothing to me!"
