Chapter 240: Unexpected Intelligence
Chapter 240: Unexpected Intelligence
September 25, 2017
After leaving Qiqige, Lu HaiKong returned directly to his tent.
Upon his return, Lu HaiKong summoned the four maids who were guarding outside.
This was the first time in three days that Lu HaiKong had called them in, causing the four maids to be genuinely startled, fearing that Lu HaiKong's perverted nature would lead him to take advantage of them now that his injuries had healed.
If it weren't for what they had just witnessed—the powerful Horse King trembling in fear before Lu HaiKong—they would never have imagined him to be anything but a useless man.
However, this did not change the maids' perception of Lu HaiKong; instead, it made them worry that he might be a perverted maniac. They realized that if he truly intended to do something, they would have no power to resist.
But because of Qiqige's orders, they couldn't leave easily, so they entered with trembling hearts, determined to fight Lu HaiKong to the death if necessary.
Fortunately, Lu HaiKong did nothing of the sort. Instead, he began to teach them.
Lu HaiKong had practically single-handedly established the Flame Battalion, and he was responsible for educating its members. As a teacher, at least in terms of military knowledge, Lu HaiKong was quite proficient.
It should be noted that Lu HaiKong's teachings for the Flame Battalion were not his own inventions. A significant portion of the military strategies he taught were learned from books collected by Li Xiong from external sources. While Lu HaiKong's command abilities might not surpass Qiqige's, his theoretical knowledge, especially in training soldiers, was undoubtedly superior.
Lu HaiKong called the four maids in to teach them about soldier training, specifically tailored for Qiqige's female soldiers.
The maids quickly understood Lu HaiKong's intentions, and the more they listened, the more they realized the value of his teachings. They diligently took notes, and after the lesson, they reviewed the material together. Then, they sent the youngest maid to inform Qiqige about what Lu HaiKong had taught them.
"Did Lu HaiKong teach you this?" Qiqige's bright eyes flashed, and her high command attribute of 70 granted her exceptional insight into military matters. She immediately recognized the importance of the knowledge Lu HaiKong had imparted to her maids.
"Yes, yes, that man... he... taught us this," the little maid in front of Qiqige replied. She had originally intended to refer to Lu HaiKong as "that guy," but now, feeling grateful for his useful teachings, she couldn't bring herself to use such a casual term. Unable to think of a better alternative at the moment, she vaguely referred to him.
"This man is even more formidable than I expected," Qiqige said, narrowing her eyes, her face glowing with the excitement of finding a treasure.
It was an expression of both anticipation and excitement, her flushed face radiating an astonishing beauty.
The little maid had never seen this expression on Qiqige before. Her mind raced, and she blurted out, "Lady Qiqige, you wouldn't be thinking of marrying this man, would you?"
(End)
"No, I will never marry him, or anyone for that matter. However, if he were to submit to me, I might consider marrying him!"
Fortunately, Lu HaiKong didn't hear these words, or else he would have likely lost his temper. What an audacious woman!
Afterwards, Qi Qi Ge didn't waste any more time. Instead, she took the items given to Lu HaiKong by the four maids and thoroughly reviewed them, comparing them to the situation of her own female soldiers and making adjustments accordingly.
True to her reputation as a commander with a score of 70, she was incredibly adept at this task, easily digesting all the information Lu HaiKong had given to the four maids.
Then, Qi Qi Ge took the bait. The reason Lu HaiKong had taught these four maids was to entice Qi Qi Ge. He knew that to tame this woman, he would have to conquer her by any means necessary, in every way possible. But the most effective method would be through two aspects: strength and more strength.
The first aspect of strength was personal combat prowess, while the second was the method Lu HaiKong had just demonstrated—a way to enhance the combat capabilities of his soldiers, or in simpler terms, military prowess.
As long as Qi Qi Ge was interested in this aspect, Lu HaiKong believed she would come looking for him. However, he anticipated that this woman to be even more patient.
Over the next two days, the woman didn't come looking for him, and Lu HaiKong never left his tent. Instead, he had Ma Pian bring over several military books from Wang Hao's secret room in the mountain fort for him to study.
During this time, Ma Pian also managed to gather a good understanding of the Uyun Tribe's situation.
As a Han person, Ma Pian's ability to understand the Hun language was thanks to the almighty system.
The last time Lu HaiKong had eradicated a Hun tribe, among the spoils of war were not only horses and cattle but also a considerable number of Hun language books. It was thanks to these books that Ma Pian and the others were able to comprehend the Hun language.
Although they weren't entirely fluent, they could now communicate effectively.
After reading and comparing the books, Ma Pian confirmed his suspicions.
Indeed, from the intelligence Ma Pian provided, Qi Qi Ge and the old chief were in a state of conflict. The reason was simple: this powerful woman wanted to become the leader of the Uyun Tribe, an unprecedented situation. The old chief would never compromise on this matter.
This was the crux of their irreconcilable conflict. It seemed that the old chief was being pushed into a corner by Qi Qi Ge, ultimately resorting to a marriage tournament to drive her away.
What puzzled Lu HaiKong was that despite the current unfavorable situation, Qi Qi Ge didn't show any signs of dejection. Given her personality, he was certain she had something up her sleeve.
"Oh, Lord, while investigating the old chief, I unexpectedly discovered a highly suspicious individual..."
Ma Pian shared the intelligence he had gathered with Lu HaiKong. As Lu HaiKong listened, his eyes narrowed. "It seems this marriage tournament will be even more interesting than I anticipated."
"Ma Pian, you can let go of the old chief's line. From now on, focus all your efforts on closely monitoring this individual. My intuition tells me that this person is up to something big, very big."
"Yes, my lord! I'll take care of it immediately!" Ma Pian bowed and once again disappeared into the night.
