Chapter 238: Mad-Eye Moody's Memory
Chapter 238: Mad-Eye Moody's Memory
"Gryffindor gets five points, two to Ron, and three to Hermione."
Sherlock never held back in awarding points to students who correctly answered questions, and he never favored his own house, Ravenclaw, unlike a certain unnamed Old Bat, who was far less fair.
"As Ron and Hermione mentioned, the Unforgivable Curses are the Imperius Curse, the Cruciatus Curse, and the Killing Curse."
"These three spells all involve extremely serious magical laws. Using any of the Unforgivable Curses on a person will result in the wizard being locked in Azkaban for life."
"To be honest, I am not particularly skilled in true Dark Magic, the Unforgivable Curses. I have yet to successfully cast a single one."
"However, this year, a person who is deeply knowledgeable about these curses and has even used them on others has come to the castle."
At this point, a student in the audience, without raising their hand, stuttered a question.
"Professor, didn't you say that using an Unforgivable Curse on a person would result in a life sentence in Azkaban?"
Sherlock's gaze was solemn. He did not reprimand the Hufflepuff student for not following classroom etiquette but nodded instead.
"Very good question, Williamson. He was able to use the Unforgivable Curses on people without being arrested because, during that time, to combat the dangerous enemies in the wizarding world, the Ministry of Magic temporarily lifted the restrictions on Aurors using Unforgivable Curses."
"Although these restrictions were quickly reinstated, during that period, more than three Dark Wizards were killed by his Killing Curse."
All the students held their breath, each one knowing exactly who Sherlock was referring to.
This year, only one Auror had come to Hogwarts—Mad-Eye: Alastor Moody!
"I originally intended to invite him to give you a personal lecture or demonstration, but the old man didn't want to deal with a bunch of young ones in class."
"However, I have a decent relationship with him, so I managed to get something from him that will allow you to intuitively experience these Unforgivable Curses."
As he spoke, Sherlock pulled a transparent glass bottle from his robe pocket. Inside, several silver threads swayed gently, like seaweed drifting in water.
The contents of the bottle clearly caught the students off guard. Even Hermione, who had read the most books, couldn't identify what it was.
However, the key to Sherlock's lesson was not the bottle itself. After placing it on the desk, he drew his wand and waved it lightly at the classroom doors and windows. All the curtains were drawn, plunging the entire room into darkness.
At the same time, Sherlock used his wand as a pen to write a series of silver symbols on the walls of the classroom. No one could understand what these symbols meant, but Hermione barely recognized them as ancient runes.
In fact, if Harry had been more observant when he went to Dumbledore's office, he would have noticed that the Runes Sherlock was drawing in the classroom were identical to the patterns on the surface of a stone basin stored in a cabinet.
These symbols, which Sherlock had replicated from Dumbledore's cherished Pensieve, could temporarily grant the entire classroom the ability to read memories.
After inscribing all the Runes, Sherlock opened a glass bottle, and a silver thread of light floated out like a fish in water.
At the same moment, the Runes etched on the walls glowed with a gentle silver light!
"Stay quiet and watch all the scenes that appear before you."
Sherlock's voice echoed in the classroom, calming the students' nervous hearts.
Soon, everyone felt a dizzying sensation, and a scene different from the classroom appeared before their eyes.
They found themselves in an old, dilapidated house. The floor was covered in dust, and a pile of what could only be described as junk was heaped in one corner.
The environment was terrible, but at that moment, no one paid much attention to their surroundings. Their focus was entirely on a male wizard tied up with ropes in front of them.
The wizard looked incredibly fierce, with a bruised and swollen face, as if there wasn't a single unharmed spot.
Despite being restrained and tortured, he still shouted wildly.
"Go on! Is that all you've got? Do you have any other tricks? You can't do it! Your teammates won't hold out much longer. They'll spill everything they know, and then they'll be cleaned out like pests! Let's see who has more courage!"
The students watched in shock as the wizard, even in such a dire situation, remained arrogant. Just as they were stunned, a frantic voice suddenly sounded behind them.
"Let me try again, Captain! We really don't have time to wait any longer!"
The students turned to see three Aurors in Ministry of Magic robes squatting by the wall near the door. Among them, they immediately recognized Mad-Eye Moody, who was already wearing his magical eye and prosthetic limb. He didn't look as old as he would later, but he had a cigarette in his mouth and a very grim expression.
The young Auror urging him looked anxious and restless, as if waiting for something. His gaze towards the still-shouting wizard was filled with obvious disgust and hatred.
Mad-Eye Moody seemed to have made a decision. He spat out the cigarette and said in a hoarse voice, "Even if the Ministry has relaxed the restrictions on Unforgivable Curses, this isn't something for young people like you to handle."
"But—"
The young Auror tried to protest, but Mad-Eye Moody gave him a fierce glare.
"Shut up! I'm not dead yet! Don't try to steal the spotlight from me!"
With that, he pulled out his wand and, limping but taking steady steps, walked through the students who seemed out of place in the scene.
Several students instinctively moved out of his way, but Mad-Eye Moody ignored them, passing through them like a ghost, until he stood in front of the captured wizard.
