Chapter 237: Battle Conference (First Update)
“Hawkeye and Dr. Erik were not controlled by the Mind Staff. It seems those two Aliens didn’t need to use Earth’s technology to open the Spatial Gateway with the Cosmic Cube!”
Jerry remembered that in Avengers One, Loki relied on Dr. Erik’s research to open the Spatial Gateway and lead the Chitauri Army into Earth.
But those two Aliens, apart from killing the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents who attacked them, did not use the Mind Staff to control anyone.
“Hover Power check complete, Power Cycle in position, Horsepower increased by 8%.”
While Jerry and Fury were chatting, a voice announcement suddenly sounded in the command hall, followed by a noticeable rise of the entire sky carrier.
“It looks like they’re all here!”
Nick Fury’s face finally showed a hint of a smile as he saw the carrier take off.
He knew that only when everyone was present would Deputy Commander Hill order the sky carrier to take off.
Sure enough, as soon as Fury finished speaking, Jerry saw Black Widow, dressed in her S.H.I.E.L.D. combat suit, leading a group of people into the room.
At a glance, almost everyone was familiar.
Thor, holding his hammer, whom Jerry had visited Asgard with just last week to seek Frigga’s advice on magic.
Tony, wearing his Iron Man suit, who had helped Jerry build the prototype of Hass’s Mini Cannon when Jerry returned to the Main World.
Captain America, in his 1940s brown leather jacket, whom Jerry had taken to try lifting Thor’s hammer.
And the last one, though Jerry didn’t recognize him, he guessed it must be Dr. Banner, the same person who transformed into Hulk and whom Jerry had helped during the battle with Abomination.
“Hey, they said you’d come, and you didn’t disappoint!”
Thor, upon seeing Jerry, was about to give him a hug, but a sharp look from Jerry stopped him mid-sentence.
“Who’s ‘they’?”
Tony opened his helmet, looking puzzled.
“It’s J, Thor’s nickname for me. You can call me that too!”
Jerry explained calmly.
“Oh, that’s great. Calling you ‘Witch’ always felt a bit formal!”
Tony nodded.
“Hello, I’m Robert Bruce Banner, also known as Hulk. Thank you for your help at Grayborn Academy!”
Dr. Banner approached Jerry and expressed his gratitude.
Jerry smiled and nodded.
“At the time, I only provided a little help. You did most of the work!”
At that moment, Captain America, looking amazed at the command hall of the carrier, came over to greet Jerry and then handed a ten-dollar bill to Fury.
“Prepare for full speed ahead.
Increase power output to maximum.
Power systems have reached peak capacity.
All systems ready, engines at full throttle.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Emergency Protocol 193.6 is in effect!”
Reports echoed in the command hall, and finally, Deputy Commander Hill walked over to Fury.
“Sir, the carrier has reached the designated altitude!”
Fury took the ten-dollar bill from Captain America with a smile and ordered:
“Good, go into stealth mode!”
“Activate simulated reflective panels, panels activated successfully, entering stealth mode!”
The sky carrier, which had just risen from the sea, instantly went into stealth mode and vanished into the sky.
“Alright, gentlemen, we need to head to the conference room to discuss our battle plan!”
Seeing that the entire sky carrier had entered the predetermined state, Nick Fury turned to the group that was already chatting and said,
"Isn't it inconvenient to look at these three monitors with one eye?"
Tony, who had already taken off his Iron Man suit, walked to the captain's control console and jokingly covered one eye before leaving the command room with the others.
Jerry, whose senses were always active, keenly noticed that in the moment Tony turned, he attached a button-sized device to the main unit of the captain's control console.
In the sky carrier's combat meeting room,
"Are you saying that our mission this time is to capture these two... uh, Aliens?"
Captain America looked at the projector, which was repeatedly showing the scene of the two Aliens battling S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, and confirmed with a serious tone.
Nick Fury nodded.
"Yes, ever since they stole the Cosmic Cube three days ago, they've disappeared without a trace.
Now we're scanning every camera, phone, and laptop that can connect to satellites, making them all our eyes."
"That won't work. You need to narrow down the search. How many spectrometers can you mobilize right now?"
Dr. Banner interjected.
Fury didn't even hesitate in his response:
"How many do you need?"
"Then gather all the spectrometers currently available, calibrate them to search for gamma rays. I'll use cluster recognition to draft a tracking algorithm, which should at least help us quickly rule out a few areas!"
Dr. Banner's string of technical terms left everyone in the room momentarily stunned.
"Thor, do you recognize these Aliens?"
Jerry turned to Thor and asked.
Thor shook his head:
"No, but I can be certain they are not from the Nine Realms. They must be from another force outside the Nine Realms!"
It seemed that at this point, Thor was not yet familiar with Thanos and his forces, but Jerry speculated that Odin must know about Thanos' deeds.
It was unclear whether Odin would send Asgardian soldiers to help once the Chitauri Legion arrived.
"The key issue right now is, why are they so confident that two of them can conquer the entire Earth? And they claim to be sons of Thanos—so who is Thanos?"
Tony voiced his own concerns at this point.
In his view, the two Aliens did display considerable power, but the idea that two individuals could conquer the Earth was absurd.
The two Aliens didn't seem like they were delusional, especially the tall, thin one, so he suspected there must be some other reason.
"Could it be that the Cosmic Cube can open a Spatial Gateway to transport them here, and they plan to use its power to bring a large alien army to invade Earth?"
Jerry directly revealed the answer.
He knew the two Aliens intended to use the Cosmic Cube to open a Spatial Gateway and bring in the Chitauri Legion to conquer Earth. The only unknown was where they would open it.
Dr. Banner also nodded in agreement:
"According to the data, heating the cube to 1.2 billion Kelvin and stabilizing it should open a sufficiently large and sustainable quantum tunnel..."
"We've guessed that much, so the main focus now is to find their location and stop them!"
These issues had been analyzed by S.H.I.E.L.D. experts over the past few days. The primary goal now was to capture the two Aliens with minimal harm to civilians and retrieve the Cosmic Cube.
