Chapter 236: Kill Obito! 【27】
Chapter 236: Kill Obito! 【27】
Soaring through the skies is a dream for many, and ninjas are no exception.
Flying amidst the clouds, gazing down upon the world below, with wisps of cotton-like clouds drifting by—such a scene was usually only possible in dreams. Yet, here it was, unfolding before them.
Terumi Mei could feel the chakra flowing within her, emanating from Fengye's palm. She knew her life was in his hands; he could, at any moment, turn that life-sustaining chakra into a force of destruction.
But for some reason, she wanted this moment to last a little longer.
She didn't know what would happen when they reached Kirigakure, and the thought of a potential conflict or battle with the village filled her with dread. Whether it was her death, Fengye's demise, or the destruction of Kirigakure—none of those outcomes were what she wished for.
Even though she was an elite jonin of Kirigakure, even though countless enemies had fallen to her bloodline limit, she was still human, still a young girl of just fifteen.
If only Fengye wasn't an enemy.
If only he was Kirigakure's Fourth Mizukage, leading the village to victory in the Ninja Great War, striking fear into the hearts of countless ninjas—perhaps she would have fallen for him already.
Fengye flew swiftly, and in no time at all, they had crossed half the distance to the Land of Water. They now hovered directly above Kirigakure.
Descending slightly, Fengye's Rinnegan fixed on the village below.
With his senjutsu perception combined with the Evil Thought Sensor of the Nine-Tails, Fengye possessed one of the strongest perceptive abilities in the ninja world. However, in terms of range, the Rinnegan's vision still surpassed it.
Fengye's gaze swept across Kirigakure, quickly spotting a familiar figure in the topmost level of the Mizukage's office building.
It was Uchiha Obito!
"As expected..."
Fengye narrowed his eyes slightly, not paying him any further attention, and continued to scan in other directions, searching for Nagato's location.
However, even after scouring every corner of Kirigakure, both above ground and below, he found no trace of Nagato, nor any sign of the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.
"Is Nagato not here?"
Fengye's brows furrowed slightly.
He descended a little further and checked once more, but still found no trace of Nagato or any indication of the statue in Kirigakure.
"Never mind," he thought. "Having Obito here is enough."
A faint blue gleam flashed in Fengye's eyes.
In the past, he hadn't had a particularly effective method for dealing with Obito's Kamui. But now that he possessed the Rinnegan, things were different!
The Rinnegan bestowed four distinct abilities upon its wielder:
First, the Rinnegan Chakra Mode.
Second, the unique control over the Chakra Receivers.
Third, the manipulation of gravity and repulsion, which included the abilities of the Shinra Tensei and Bansho Ten'in, as well as the Chibaku Tensei.
And the final ability was... the creation of spatial pathways!
Unlike the Flying Thunder God, Kamui, or Yellow Spring Water Hole, the Rinnegan's ability to create spatial pathways took time and was not suited for combat. However, once created, these pathways could be maintained for extended periods through the use of chakra, much like the passage that connected the moon to the outside of Konoha.
"...”
Fengye glanced down at Kirigakure below and then pulled out a kunai from his pocket. With a light tap of his finger, he imprinted the coordinates of the Flying Thunder God on it before letting go.
Terumi Mei, resting against Fengye, noticed this action and her eyes narrowed slightly as she asked, "What are you doing?"
She found it hard to believe.
After expending so much effort, taking her hostage, traveling all the way back from the Land of Frost by boat, and then apparently cultivating a powerful ninjutsu, only to fly at such a high altitude to avoid the Kirigakure ninjas—all of this just to take out a single ninja hiding in her village? She couldn't help but feel that there was more to it, and that in Fengye's eyes, this enemy's importance far outweighed that of Kirigakure.
"Hmm, it's not just about that," Fengye stroked his chin and said, "I also want to have a little chat with your Fourth Mizukage about a peace treaty. And while we're at it, I'll take back the long sword, Nuibari, that you used to summon back to the village, as well as the summoning scrolls for the Seven Ninja Swordsmen."
"So that was your true intention," Terumi Mei sighed.
Tracking down some infiltrator in Kirigakure was probably just an excuse. Fengye's real goal was to deal with Kirigakure, hence all the trouble he had gone to.
At this point, she was powerless to stop Fengye, and her life was still in his hands. Even if he wanted to attack Kirigakure, she was helpless to prevent it.
"I told you, it's just a side task," Fengye chuckled lightly. Sensing that the Flying Thunder God kunai had landed and stabilized, he activated the Flying Thunder God Technique, instantly transporting Terumi Mei to the ground.
Immediately after, he activated the technique again for himself.
Whoosh!
Terumi Mei appeared on a rooftop within Kirigakure.
Before she could make any move, Fengye's figure appeared beside her. The Seeking Path Jade in his hand transformed into a black sword, and as soon as he landed, he slashed upwards towards the top of the Hidden Mist Village's Mizukage office building.
Shick!
There was no flash of a blade, but a ripple appeared in the air, spreading out and slicing through the top of the building like a fruit. The entire upper half of the structure was cleanly cut along a diagonal line.
Without hesitation, Fengye's black sword struck again, leaving afterimages as he cleaved the air, creating countless intersecting ripples.
Crash!
The upper half of the Mizukage's office building, which had been sliced off, froze in mid-air for a moment before shattering into countless neat fragments that scattered in all directions.
"Your target is the Mizukage's office building. So, from the start, you intended to..."
Terumi Mei's fist clenched tightly as she witnessed this scene, but in the next moment, her eyes widened in shock.
Among the countless shattered fragments of the upper half of the building, she spotted an unbroken figure. It wasn't the Fourth Mizukage.
Uchiha Obito's face twisted in displeasure.
After being confronted by Fengye in the Land of Rain, he had crossed the ocean and hidden in Kirigakure, intending to secretly control the village from within. Yet, once again, Fengye had found him!
"Your eyes..."
Uchiha Obito noticed the change in Fengye's eyes, sensing a level of oppression akin to that of Nagato's Rinnegan, and his pupils constricted involuntarily.
What kind of eyes were those?!
