Chapter 234: Oh, Demon People, Are You Scared?
Chapter 234: Oh, Demon People, Are You Scared?
This time, the Council was quite generous, settling the 6 million j on the spot. The four people and two cats split it fairly—there was no share for the Guild Master, but Loke offered to buy him a drink as long as Mira didn't object.
Xialu indicated she hadn’t contributed and didn’t need a share.
But Erza and Natsu argued that the Fairy Tail always distributed rewards this way.
Charle even said before leaving that she and Natsu could go without a share, but they couldn’t really do that.
After dividing the spoils and saying their goodbyes, Loke dispatched a two-headed wolf to escort Wendy and Xialu for a part of their journey.
It was hard to get a ride near the Council, so they Could Decide where to change vehicles themselves. With Loke’s current magical power, endurance wasn’t a concern.
Makarov seemed to want to say something to Wendy but ultimately didn’t open his mouth.
After seeing Wendy and xialu off, they all boarded a river crab to return to Magnolia.
While a horse carriage would have been more Comfort, Natsu firmly protested, so they had to go with him.
...
“I’m back... Whoa!”
Natsu’s foot hadn’t even reached the guild door when the Guild Master’s palm sent him sprawling.
“Don’t destroy the guild as soon as you return!”
“L-Love...” Natsu tends to go soft when faced with someone he can’t resist.
The atmosphere in the guild was a bit somber, but when the door opened, someone shouted:
“The Guild Master is back!”
Inside, it immediately became lively:
“Guild Master! Erza! Loke! Charle! Are you all right?”
“Hey? Where’s Natsu?”
“What’s this? He’s actually sleeping at the door. I thought the Council held him back.”
Mira, who had been worried, also smiled again: “Welcome back, Guild master.”
“Hey!” Makarov replied cheerfully, “It’s all over now. Let’s celebrate!”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah!!!”
Makarov thought it was about dinnertime, and a small celebration would be nice.
Loke felt Mira must be curious about what happened, so he immediately went to her side to speak.
“Don’t worry. Not only did we not get saddled with strange charges, but we even made a little profit.”
“A little profit?” Mira looked at him, “If it’s just a small profit, would you be smiling like that?”
“I’m not smiling just because of the money.”
Mira rolled her eyes at him, “Come help prepare for the party.”
“Alright,” Loke sighed, “You’re not being very cooperative.”
Laki chimed in, “Yeah, Mira-nee, at a time like this, you should ask, ‘Why is that?’”
“Then he answers, ‘Of course, it’s because I saw you.’”
“Then you should say, ‘Oh, how sweet~’”
“And finally, he hugs you, and your hearts reflect each other, sending out waves and gravitational waves, getting closer and closer... Ah~~ so romantic~~~”
Laki hugged herself, lost in her romantic fantasy, as if she had just watched a love story.
Loke’s thick skin even felt a bit heated, thinking this girl had more romantic ideas than he did.
Mira glanced at Loke, her face flushing, and she patted Laki’s head, “Stop talking nonsense. Come help.”
They walked towards the kitchen, and Loke noticed a pillar with cracks all over it, looking like it could break at any moment.
“Did someone fight in the guild? Why hasn’t anyone repaired it?”
“Uh...” Mira looked a bit embarrassed.
Laki answered for her, “Mira-nee did it.”
“Huh?”
“Because everyone was talking about you being taken by the Council, and the stories kept getting more exaggerated. In the end, someone even wanted to form a team to break you out of jail.”
“Then, in a fit of anger...” Mira gently touched her cheek, “I think I went a bit overboard.”
“You didn’t see it. There was a loud boom, and the whole guild shook. Everyone immediately stopped talking, just like when Erza suddenly appears.”
Laki exaggeratedly described the scene, then nudged Loke with her elbow: “How about it, are you scared? Demon people~”
“Such a pity,” Loke said with a regretful look, which made Mira a bit nervous.
“Mira must have looked really cool at the time. I wish I could have been there,” he said, looking at Mira and suggesting, “How about we do it again?”
He wasn’t surprised that Mira could crack a pillar with one punch. After all, he had seen her casually lift a barrel full of beer not long after they met.
This also showed that even without the Guild Master and Erza, Mira could keep the guild in order.
Usually, she just liked to watch the commotion, even if it meant she might get knocked down by some unknown flying object.
Hearing this, Mira felt a bit relieved but still politely declined Loke’s suggestion: “There’s no need to demonstrate that again.”
“Then I’ll ask Laxus if he drew it.”
“I’ll be upset if you do.”
“Alright, then.”
Laki shrugged: “Ah~ This guy is beyond saving.”
Everything was ready, and the tables in the guild hall were combined into several large tables.
Mira, Loke, Laki, and the other waitresses bustled about, quickly serving drinks and food to the large tables.
Once they finished and picked up their glasses, Makarov called everyone to raise their glasses: “Let’s celebrate our safe return. Cheers!”
“Cheers!”
Loke raised his glass to toast with everyone. Just as he was about to drink, a small hand snatched his glass away.
He turned his head to see a glass of juice being pushed into his hand: “Your injuries haven’t fully healed yet, no drinking.”
“Alright,” Loke smiled and nodded, taking the juice and clinking it with Mira’s glass, then gulped down a few mouthfuls.
It was sweet, much better than beer.
The celebration went on late into the night.
It was the first time Loke stayed sober until the end of the party, while Mira looked a bit tipsy.
Some were drunk, others were tired from the commotion, and they either slumped on the tables or lay on the floor, wherever they fell, they slept.
It was early spring, and the guild’s heaters hadn’t been removed yet. As long as the doors and windows were closed, there was no need to worry about them catching a chill.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, I controlled my drinking.”
Today, Mira was wearing a black off-shoulder long-sleeved knit top, outlining her graceful curves.
A white square scarf was draped around her neck, and under the dim yellow light, it made the post-drinking flush on her face even more alluring.
“Shouldn’t we take care of them?”
“It’s always been like this,” Mira grabbed Loke’s wrist, “Come with me.”
“?” Loke, puzzled, was dragged to the infirmary by her.
“Sit down, the bandages on your head are loose.” Mira untied them and carefully cleaned the wound with iodine. She felt the bandages were no longer necessary and replaced them with a square bandage.
“Any more injuries?”
“A few.”
Loke took off his shirt, revealing bandages wrapped around his arms and waist, almost like a mummy.
Actually, Natsu had even more bandages. This kid fought too fiercely, as if his life was borrowed.
Erza’s condition was a bit better, but she lost a few pieces of armor.
Loke and Natsu were injured physically, while Erza’s wallet took the bigger hit.
Mira covered her mouth; the injuries were worse than she imagined: “How could this be...”
“Don’t worry, it just looks bad.” Loke explained, “Wendy used healing magic on us later. The remaining superficial wounds will heal in a few days, and Wendy said there won’t be any scars.”
Mira didn’t say anything, carefully unrolling the bandages around Loke’s back.
The position was a bit intimate, but neither of them paid attention to that.
One was worried, and the other was worried about her worry.
