Chapter 234: Moria, Think Carefully
Chapter 234: Moria, Think Carefully
Sarge moved his wine glass aside and had Bellana pour him another drink. The scarlet liquid poured out of the bottle, obscuring half of Sarge's vision and half of Teach's face across from him, adding a touch of malevolence to his appearance.
"Help?"
Sarge paused, "What do you have in mind, Teach?"
Teach revealed his teeth, missing a few, "That place you just came from, Impel Down. I want to go there and recruit some crew members. That's my primary goal as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Unlike you, I want ten giant crew members, and only they will be worthy to accompany me to the New World!"
"However, things have changed now. Aside from that, there's something else I need to do."
He propped himself up on the table, leaning forward slightly, and his smile turned sinister: "I've captured Ace, and the Navy wants to execute him. Old man won't stand for that; he'll come! I just came down from Mariejois, and it's confirmed. This will be a top-level war between the Navy and pirates, and the old man will lose!"
His eyes widened as he sat back down, his left hand extending and blooming into a pitch-black mass, "You understand, Sarge!"
Seeing that dark mass, Reinetia's heart skipped a beat, and she felt a sense of discomfort.
The other ability users also gazed at the hand with grave expressions.
"That is..."
Only Lucci stared at the darkness, furrowing his brow.
"Hmm?"
Teach, who had also revealed his ability, was taken aback and glanced at Sarge with surprise before bursting into laughter: "Ze ha ha ha! This feeling, Sarge, you've become an ability user too!"
The Yami Yami no Mi had a peculiar attraction, able to draw in ability users even when its power was merely displayed. The man before him had undoubtedly become an ability user!
"How about it? Do you think you can take me on now?"
Sarge chuckled, a gleam flashing in his eyes, "We can give it a try, Teach."
"Don't joke about it. I have no intention of fighting you, ze ha ha ha!" Teach's forehead beaded with sweat as he laughed, then retracted his ability.
"I won't be going to Impel Down. I have Celestial Dragons here, and a new deal with the World Government. If I leave, my crew might not be able to hold their ground."
Sarge shook his head, "As for whether to go to that war or not, it depends on whether the World Government knows what's good for them!"
The newspaper he wanted hadn't come out yet!
Based on Teach's current progress since coming down from Mariejois, there wasn't much time left until Ace's execution.
"Hey? Are you turning down my proposal? I was thinking of having you help me in Marinford since we're partners!"
Teach hid none of his intentions, "Once the old man dies and I obtain his ability, I can go to the New World and dominate it. The old man's territory will be ours, and aren't you waiting for that too?"
While others might question whether Whitebeard could win, Teach would not.
He had been on the ship for too long. Ever since he joined the Whitebeard Pirates over twenty years ago, he had watched Whitebeard, Edward Newgate, grow old before his very eyes!
The man had reached the stage where he needed medication and had to cut down on drinking to sustain his life!
He was going to die!
The winner of this war might be the Navy, or perhaps it would be him, Blackbeard, but it wouldn't be the Whitebeard Pirates!
"That's your business, Teach."
Sarge curled his lips into a smile and pointed at Teach, "If you can't do this, then our collaboration in the New World is meaningless. You know that the weak have no qualifications to collaborate with me."
The two men's goals were roughly the same, and their agreement to collaborate in the New World was based on the same intention.
Sarge was assessing Teach, and Teach was evaluating Sarge.
Only upon reaching the New World would they know if they qualified to collaborate.
Even if they were approaching that stage, it definitely wasn't now.
"Ze ha ha ha! As expected of you, rest assured that I'm a man of great fortune! If I were to fail here, it would mean that my capabilities are limited to this extent!"
"Then let's drink, you gambler!" Sarge laughed heartily.
Just then, a group of cooks descended from the ship, each carrying a tray and setting them on the long table.
"Ah la, it's someone I know."
Mary, who had finished cooking, personally carried a stew pot over a meter long and smiled at Teach and his group, "Are you joining the banquet too? Please, help yourselves."
She placed the stew pot in the center of the table and lifted the lid. Under the light of the bonfire, the stew seemed to glow, momentarily dazzling everyone's eyes.
It was a pot of stew filled with rare ingredients, emitting a peculiar fragrance.
"Sea cucumber, abalone, shark fins from the Sea Kings, essence from clams, and I just found a type of tendon with a wonderful flavor. I tried stewing them together, so please have a taste."
"Your cooking skills are indeed impressive. It's delicious no matter what." Sarge sniffed and laughed.
Bellana picked up a bowl and respectfully served Sarge a bowl of stew before placing her hands below her waist and standing to the side.
"I'm so envious!"
Teach exclaimed, "A musician, a dancer, and maids! You're living the good life as a pirate!"
"If such a profitable occupation didn't allow one to live comfortably, why would anyone bother being a pirate, Teach? Isn't that your thinking too!" Sarge laughed proudly.
"Yeah, that's right. Alright, let the old man have a taste!" Teach reached for a bowl, intending to serve himself, but just then, a bizarre and sinister laughter rang out from beside them.
"Kuh kuh kuh kuh, can I join this banquet too?"
Sarge didn't react much, but Teach paused and looked in the direction of the laughter. On the gangplank was a man cloaked in a pink feathered coat, licking his lips and crouching as he laughed, gazing down at the two Celestial Dragons tethered like dogs below him.
"Oh! Heavenly Yaksha!"
Teach's eyes widened, but then he recalled something and glanced at Sarge, who had already started eating.
"Are you in contact with him too?" Teach laughed.
"It smells wonderful, Mary."
Sarge took a spoonful of the rare stew and nodded, "Make this again tomorrow; it's delicious."
Mary smiled and nodded.
Only after Sarge had finished his stew and taken another sip of wine did he slowly turn his head, "Haven't we met before, Doflamingo?"
"Kuh kuh kuh kuh! Not in person!"
Doflamingo's smile stretched to his ears, and he gazed at the terrified Celestial Dragons, his head nearly touching their faces, "Look, look! So frightened, so scared, and so despicable!"
"I've always wanted to see this. Stored images are not as good as witnessing it in person. It's fantastic, truly fantastic!"
He jumped onto the ground, his upper body bending forward as he stared straight at Rosward, "Do you regret it?
Rosward?"
"You!" Rosward glared at Donquixote, his eyes filled with hatred, "Was all of this orchestrated by you?"
"How is that possible? I'm not insane enough to do something like that. I merely knew about this news."
Donquixote grinned, "So, do you regret it? Are you afraid? Do you want to return to the heavens? Kuh kuh kuh kuh, hahaha! Your expression is priceless, it's so genuine, so authentic!"
It was so similar to his own expression when he wanted to go back, only to be rejected by those people.
Now, everything had come back around!
After laughing maniacally for a while, Donquixote straightened up, walked to Sarge's side, grabbed the wine bottle next to him, and guzzled directly from it.
"Sarge, the World Government is not to be taken lightly."
"What? Are pirates exempt from facing them? In the end, it's all the same. Why bother worrying so much about it?"
Sarge shook his head and laughed, pointing at the pile of treasure that was still on the ground, "Your timing is impeccable. I have more money than I know what to do with. Let's continue investing. You have forty billion with me, and I have another one hundred and forty billion in cash, fifty boxes of treasure, which is worth about twenty billion to you, for a total of two hundred billion beri. Is that okay with you?"
"Kuh kuh kuh kuh, now that's a generous offer. This amount of money is even making my heart flutter."
Donquixote walked to one side, kicked a wooden barrel, and sat back down, "Sure, when it comes to money, I'll have Umite deliver it."
"Hohohoho! As long as you're investing, let's use this wine bottle!"
Sarge took another bottle of wine from the wooden box, popped the cork with his thumb, clinked it with Donquixote, gestured towards Teach, and laughed loudly, "Come on, partners, let's drink it all in one go!"
Donquixote didn't hesitate and finished the rest of the wine in the bottle.
"Advancing towards the New World from Mariejois, huh? You really don't want to go deeper, I can understand that."
The phone worm had recorded the auction of the Celestial Dragons, right up until the end, and he had seen it all, knowing Sarge's demands.
However, he thought Sarge simply didn't want to sink and just wanted to arrogantly ascend to the heavens.
After all, one was going up while the other was going down, and there was a difference between the two.
"Oh? Is that what you think? Hahaha, I just don't like going deeper than 10,000 meters below sea level. Dof, after the war is over, I'll go to Dressrosa first. I want to borrow your place to build a ship."
"Kuh kuh kuh kuh, you're coming to my place? You're more than welcome."
Donquixote took out a permanent needle from his cloak and placed it on the table, "The permanent needle of Dressrosa."
"Lily." Sarge said, and Lily took the permanent needle and nodded.
"When is the execution?" Sarge asked.
"Tomorrow at 10 am." Donquixote cackled, "If you hadn't made it to the news, what would you have done?"
"Hahahaha!"
Sarge threw back his head and laughed, "Then let's give it a try!"
"It seems quite exciting, zehahaha, Sarge, it looks like you have another guest."
Teach laughed and turned to look into the distance, "You sure have a lot of guests. Is this another partner of yours?"
From the shadows cast by the bonfire, a figure emerged, resembling both a gecko and a bat. The shadows continued to condense, materializing into a fat otaku. Moriah had his long head wrapped in bandages, and his face was filled with gloom and displeasure.
"Now that you're here, don't skulk in the shadows, Moriah. I told you before, that giant is not someone you can rely on. He was defeated by Straw Hat, wasn't he!"
Sarge laughed loudly, "This guy isn't my partner. He's going to be my subordinate!"
"I haven't agreed to that yet, Sarge!"
Moriah stepped out of the shadows, his expression fluctuating between gloom and uncertainty. However, compared to when they met in the Devil's Triangle, he seemed to have lost some of his confusion, but there was also a hint of sorrow.
Behind him stood only one Hogback.
"Zehahaha, Perona, do you want to join Sarge? That's not a bad idea."
Teach laughed, "What a shame, I find you quite interesting too!"
"Teach!" Moriah glared at him, "You're not qualified to say that to me yet. We're both Shichibukai!"
"Zehahaha," Teach rolled his eyes, laughing but not replying.
"Still undecided?"
Sarge smiled, "As for partners, unless you want to go find the current Yonko? But they've been quiet for many years. Aside from me, no one else can fulfill your long-cherished wish!"
"The times are changing, Moriah. If you don't get on board now, you'll never get another chance!"
Moriah's face was gloomy as he paused for a moment, then said in a low voice, "I'm still a Shichibukai!"
As long as he was a Shichibukai, he could use the World Government's name to do what he wanted. He still had a chance to achieve his goals.
"Shichibukai?"
Donquixote laughed softly, "Moriah, I didn't want to say this, but my partner did something that pleased me, so I'll tell you. The higher-ups want me to get rid of you after the war."
"What did you say?!" Moriah's eyes widened in shock.
"Kuh kuh kuh kuh, don't you understand? It's true that you fought Straw Hat to a standstill in the Devil's Triangle, but you disbanded your zombie army afterward. In their eyes, you failed because you couldn't defeat Straw Hat."
"You're already a loser, and you're too weak. To prevent future embarrassments and to save face for the World Government, you'll be eliminated during the war. Your title as a Shichibukai is as good as gone."
"Damn it! Damn the World Government!"
Moriah's temples and neck bulged with anger, and he stretched out his hands in frustration, "And that damn Straw Hat, and those damn people who got their shadows back, they should all die! They all deserve to die!"
Sarge frowned slightly and glanced at the only subordinate behind Moriah, "Hey, what's wrong? Your boss doesn't seem to be in a good mood."
Hogback lowered his head and said sadly, "Absalom is dead."
Absalom? Sarge was taken aback for a moment before he understood.
"That invisible stitched-up monster? Who killed him? Straw Hat?"
"No!"
Moriah gritted his teeth, "It was those people who got their shadows back. I had already lost the will to fight and returned the shadows to the zombies, but they wanted revenge, so they attacked Absalom! By the time I realized what was happening, it was too late to save him."
