Chapter 234: Lanchi Wants to Keep Some Mystery for Loren
Chapter 234: Lanchi Wants to Keep Some Mystery for Loren
Inside the Headmaster's office of the Sage Court at Eckert Academy.
The dark gray walls and sophisticated black wooden furniture created an understated and solemn atmosphere. Lining the walls were bookshelves filled with classic works of magical engineering, as well as academic reports and research journals.
A small conference area was set up in one corner of the office, featuring a round, low-legged meeting table and several comfortable chairs, typically used for brief meetings or informal discussions with students and staff.
The windows were large and bright, offering a picturesque view of the campus, particularly the courtyard of the Sage Court and the distant ancient tower library. Natural light flooded the room, making the entire space appear more spacious and bright.
Seated behind his large wooden desk, Loren was immersed in reviewing the documents before him.
A tumultuous semester had finally come to an end.
As the headmaster, he only had a few remaining coordination tasks to wrap up.
Seeing Lanchi's marks for absenting himself from all exams and Hyberrian's near-perfect scores on her exams, Loren felt a lump in his throat. How exactly did these two manage to play together?
Previously, almost everyone in the royal capital had unanimously agreed that Miss Hyberrian, the duchess, fell far short of her father, Duke Migaya, and had not inherited any of his talent. However, from Loren's perspective, that didn't seem to be the case. Her talent was astonishing, enough to captivate Lanchi.
Loren dared not imagine what this Sage Court would have been like if it hadn't been for her attracting Lanchi's attention, left to the latter's unrestrained antics.
Thinking of Lanchi, then of the students from the Kingdom of Yarloran still in the hospital, and finally remembering Julianna asking him to wait, Loren felt a stabbing pain in his head.
Suddenly, the door chimed.
"Come in."
Snapping out of his reverie, Loren focused his gaze on the door and said, "Come in."
The office door slowly swung open.
Two students walked in, holding some documents.
They were dressed casually in their private clothes, looking relaxed and carefree.
"Lanchi, Hyberrian, do you have any holiday plans?" Loren's eyes immediately fell on the documents in Lanchi's hand, which seemed to be an application form.
"Yes, we've completed the other procedures at the Student Service Center. We just need your approval." Lanchi replied.
"Let me take a look at your materials." Loren took the file from Lanchi and began to read through it carefully.
"'In Search of the Stone Tablet Holder'... I'm glad to see you two so dedicated." Even though Lanchi and Hyberrian had opted for a non-conventional graduation project, one that was shared between the Sage Court and the Magic Craft Court, Loren was not surprised to see Lanchi's choice of topic.
Given that the Sage Court and the Magic Craft Court shared a mandatory course, 'Introduction to Magical Genealogy', students with magical engineering talents in the Sage Court could also choose such topics. Occasionally, students from the Magic Craft Court selecting this topic would bring along companions from the Sage Court, capable of protecting themselves, to complete the task together.
This particular project could sometimes entail lengthy travel, and the attitude of the visited strong individual was unpredictable, making it difficult to assess the level of difficulty.
There were no restrictions on which powerful individual to visit, and the academic value of the graduation project would be determined based on the visitation results and reports submitted upon the students' return.
As an exceptional magical craftsman, Lanchi ought to broaden his horizons.
"Lanchi, Hyberrian, this project is not only part of our college's program but is also associated with a related agreement from the Magic Tower Society. Once signed, any results you choose to submit upon your return will be made public by the Magic Tower. Are you aware of this?" Loren lifted his gaze slightly as he asked.
Many years ago, the search for the stone tablet holders had started as a voluntary initiative among outstanding magical craftsman students in the Southern Continent. It wasn't until later that it gradually became a graduation project option in the Magic Craft Court, and numerous colleges and powers in the Southern Continent had since developed similar advanced missions.
"Well, it's about time to set off. Won't you take a couple of days to rest now that the holidays have begun?" Loren fixed his gaze on Lanchi and Hyberrian as he asked.
"Yes, we've already bought our tickets," Hyberrian replied, noticing that a smile had finally returned to Loren's face. She could tell that, despite his words of concern, he was probably eager to see Lanchi leave and restore peace to Eckert Academy.
"Time is of the essence," Lanchi added sincerely. "Our journey to and from the Northern Continent will take at least two months, just in terms of travel."
"The Northern Continent, huh? The Northern Continent is..." Loren trailed off, signing their application forms as he spoke.
"Oh, right," he said, putting down his pen and looking up at Lanchi with a newfound interest. "Which powerful individual do you plan to visit?"
Now that he knew Lanchi would be leaving for the Northern Continent, Loren's entire mood had improved. If he had to describe it, he felt like the New Year's festival in the royal capital was just around the corner.
Since Lanchi was headed north, he wouldn't be paying a visit to Juliana, and that thought alone put Loren's mind at ease.
Lanchi and Hyberrian exchanged a glance, the unspoken message clear between them.
Hyberrian felt a headache coming on. Supporting Lanchi was truly exhausting.
"Let's keep that a surprise for now. I'll reveal all when I get back, Headmaster," Lanchi replied after a moment's thought.
