Chapter 234: Alice
Chapter 234: Alice (Seeking Subscriptions, Favorites, and Votes)
As the Life Flame of the girl in the Magic vision grew dimmer, Liam felt increasingly anxious. Fortunately, he finally found what he was looking for in his Spatial Bag: a vial of Universal Elixir sealed in a syringe.
Although Curie had only managed to create one Universal Elixir back then, she had recorded the entire process. After she entered the Plants vs. Zombies World, Liam collected materials from several worlds to finally gather all the necessary ingredients and successfully recreated the Universal Elixir.
Unfortunately, some of the ingredients are unique to the Radiation World, making their production in other worlds limited. As a result, the monthly production of this Universal Elixir does not exceed 100 vials, and it is only supplied to certain important individuals. However, as the Federation's radiation levels continue to decrease, the seeds extracted from the Federation's seed bank will soon be replanted, and the production of these Elixirs will increase significantly.
After injecting the Universal Elixir into the girl on the bed, Liam administered an energy Elixir and a healing injection to repair the damage to her body caused by her illness.
Fortunately, the people of this era have not been exposed to antibiotics, so the antibiotics were highly effective. Within three minutes, Liam noticed that the girl's condition had stopped deteriorating and was gradually improving.
"Phew, I finally managed to save her", Liam said with a smile. "This was much easier than saving the world."
However, this is a Level 6 World, which means there must be some powerful Supernatural Powers present. Although Liam saw no signs of Supernatural Powers in this house, the owner of such a house, given his status, must have access to some Supernatural Powers. Instead of going out to look for them, it would be better to wait here for them to come to him. With this thought in mind, Liam found a chair by the bed and sat down, waiting for the girl to wake up.
Half an hour later, Liam, who was reading a Transfiguration textbook on his lap, heard a stir from the bed. He looked up and saw that the girl was almost entirely hidden under the covers, only her blue eyes peeking out at him.
Liam could see fear in her eyes. After all, anyone waking up to find an unfamiliar person sitting by their bed would be scared. This was completely normal. Fortunately, Liam was only 13 years old, and his Asian baby face made him look even younger. If a burly man had been sitting there, the girl would probably have screamed by now.
"Hello, you can call me Liam", Liam said with what he hoped was his most friendly smile. "I'm a caster who accidentally stumbled into your home while traveling with Magic. I heard some commotion upstairs and rushed up. When I got there, I found you very ill, so I treated you just now."
"Je ne sais pas de quoi tu parles." (French: I don't know what you're talking about.) Seeing that Liam made no threatening moves, the girl remained silent for a moment before revealing her face and softly speaking.
"Another French person", Liam thought to himself and quickly repeated what he had said in French. This time, the girl understood. She paused and then asked Liam to step out into the corridor so she could change her clothes.
Liam nodded, stood up, and left the room, making sure to close the door behind him. The reason he had introduced himself as a caster was to test whether the girl had any knowledge of supernatural elements. From her calm gaze and normal tone of voice, Liam got the answer he was looking for.
A few minutes later, just as Liam was starting to feel a bit impatient, the door opened. The girl stepped out in a light blue dress. Upon seeing Liam, she bent her knees slightly, lifted the sides of her skirt, and performed a graceful curtsy. Liam hurriedly reciprocated with a bow.
"Sir, I am deeply grateful for your help. Is there anything I can do for you?"
Stating his purpose now might seem like he was trying to cash in on a favor, but sometimes being direct was better than beating around the bush. With that in mind, Liam decided to get straight to the point.
"This time, I used Magic to travel in order to gain more knowledge about the Supernatural. Could you tell me where we are? Is there anywhere nearby where I can learn more about these things?"
"Oh, just like my father. Do you people have nothing else to pursue besides knowledge?" Liam's words seemed to have struck a chord, and the smile on her face vanished instantly. Her mood plummeted.
From her response, Liam easily deduced that her relationship with her father was strained. Her father was likely a Wizard who spent most of his time and energy pursuing knowledge, leaving little room for communication with his daughter. This explained why mentioning such topics made the girl's mood sour.
"Alright, I can stay with you until your father returns. Then I can ask him myself." Seeing the girl on the verge of tears, Liam felt it was best to keep her company. After all, if he was teleported here, it likely meant she was a key character in the story. Staying longer might trigger some plot developments. Besides, Liam knew nothing about this place except that it was in France, and it was necessary to settle in and gather more information.
Moreover, he was a bit concerned about leaving a girl her age alone. He couldn't imagine how careless her father must be to leave his daughter by herself.
"Thank you, that's very kind of you." It was clear the girl had been alone for too long, and she seemed genuinely happy to receive Liam's kindness.
"By the way, you can call me Alice." The girl informed Liam of her name as they made their way to the parlor.
The time passed pleasantly as they conversed. Alice had an inexplicable yearning for the outside world. Liam told her about Hogwarts, and it was evident she was fascinated by his description of a Magic School where hundreds of young Wizards studied together.
Liam also learned that they were in the Louis XV Era of France, and the estate was located in the outskirts of Paris. However, the area was protected by a Magic Array set up by Alice's father, preventing outsiders from entering.
Perhaps due to the lack of company, Alice was quite talkative. Time flew by in their conversation until the clock beside them chimed.
This was Liam's first encounter with the world's Supernatural Power. As the clock chimed, several mechanical birds flew out from a small door at the top, circling the parlor while singing. After making three rounds, they returned to the clock.
"Wow, that's amazing", Liam couldn't help but exclaim.
"For my father, that's just a small feat. His other traps are truly ingenious", Alice said with a proud smile, which quickly turned into a look of anger. "A Parisian count invited him to create an Alchemical Toy, and he's been gone for a week. If you hadn't stumbled in here, he might have returned only to find my body."
She then looked at Liam and asked, "Do you think my attitude towards my father is strange?"
