Chapter 233: The Power of Swiftprow
Chapter 233: The Power of Swiftprow
A silver-white wave of energy surged forth, quickly sweeping across the entire field. The young wizards, who had been under the influence of the Dementors, were instantly freed from their cold, despairing moods.
Professor Mcgonagall gripped her wand and scanned the area, quickly making a decision. She said to Felix and Dumbledore, “I’ll go down there.”
In that moment, Harry landed smoothly. Madam Hooch hurried over to check on him, and the Gryffindor players rushed to his side. Meanwhile, Cedric turned around, bewildered, looking at the sudden commotion on the field—still clutching the Golden Snitch in his hand.
The young wizards, who had just been freed from the Dementors' influence, especially those from Hufflepuff, were nearly ready to topple the entire field. A massive wave of cheers surged through the crowd like a tidal wave.
The Dementors, who had been lingering, began to stir. The small but highly threatening creature could not be allowed to ruin their easy feast. Some Dementors rose into the air, while the others lifted their tattered hoods, drawing in the happy vibes from the air.
Dementors have no eyes; they rely entirely on their sense of smell and the emotions around them. But today, they had a new and strange experience—they saw light.
Swiftprow darted into the group of Dementors, its entire body glowing brightly, radiating a dazzling light. A silver-white wave exploded outward, churning and surging like a silver sea.
The Dementors almost instantly scattered, retreating rapidly. But Swiftprow, swift as lightning, wove a dense web in the air, trapping all the Dementors within it. Any Dementor that touched the web would fall back.
They were completely trapped.
In the stunned gazes of the young wizards, the gaps in the web grew smaller and smaller, gradually forming a half-spherical dome. The Dementors' forms were gradually obscured, and finally, the swift form disappeared, leaving a half-moon in the center of the field.
The light from the "half-moon" pierced through the misty, foggy field.
A young wizard, dazed, said, “Professor Hup conjured a moon?” His companion nodded in complete agreement.
Many students looked up at the sky, as if to confirm whether the moon was still there. All they could see was a black, cloud-covered sky.
Felix's eyes glowed with a silver-white light. He felt a peculiar mix of emotions. A Patronus is formed from pure, happy, and positive emotions, but because it lacks human feelings and cannot feel despair, Dementors cannot harm it.
Most importantly, Felix noticed that the light emitted by the Patronus seemed to have a significant restraining effect on the Dementors.
Through Swiftprow's perspective, he observed that the Dementors within the enclosure seemed to have slightly shrunk in size.
“Maybe it’s just an illusion…” Felix muttered quietly. The light from the "half-moon" grew even more intense, looking like a rising silver moon.
Dumbledore's expression became peculiar. He was indeed very angry that the Dementors had dared to enter the school, and he had already decided to teach them a lesson.
But now, it seemed that if he didn’t intervene in time, Felix might do something truly astonishing.
A Patronus is generally known to only drive away, not kill, Dementors. But Dumbledore was not one to make superficial judgments.
The simplest logic was this: if a Patronus couldn’t harm Dementors, why would they fear it so much?
He said softly, “Felix, you can teach them a lesson, but you can’t kill the Dementors. They are Ministry of Magic employees.”
Felix shrugged, and a stream of light shot out from the half-moon, transforming back into the silver Swift and hovering in the air.
The "half-moon" gradually dissipated, and the young wizards stared wide-eyed, their gazes fixed. They began to chatter excitedly, discussing what they had just witnessed—
"Did you guys notice that the Dementors seem to have shrunk?"
"It does look that way..."
"Maybe it's just a perspective issue. We're standing up high."
"That's impossible. When I went to Hogsmeade, I secretly glanced at the Dementors guarding the entrance. Each one was at least six feet tall. Now, they don't even reach five feet..."
"..."
After the Dementors emerged into the daylight, they barely had time to glance at the stationary Patronus hovering in the air before they fled the scene, their tattered black cloaks nearly parallel to the ground.
The silver Swift's body suddenly expanded, growing a thousand times larger, with a wingspan of nearly twenty feet. It trailed behind the Dementors, occasionally emitting bursts of intense light.
The young wizards erupted in cheers. To them, this was Professor Hup giving them a well-deserved victory.
The Dementors fled even faster.
After a while, the enormous Swift returned, perching at the edge of the Quidditch pitch, basking in the admiring gazes of the young wizards.
"That was absolutely amazing!"
"It's over", Felix sighed, but he made no move to dismiss the silver Patronus.
Dumbledore looked at him with an enigmatic expression.
"Felix, I need to remind you that while Dementors aren't particularly intelligent, they have a vague collective consciousness. As I told you, they will notice if one of their own is missing."
Felix hesitated. "Can't it stay for just one day?"
Dumbledore seemed amused. "Oh, unless you want the Ministry of Magic knocking on your door. A thousand people saw your Patronus; there's no way you can talk your way out of it."
"Then what if it was 'Sirius Black' who did it? He learned powerful dark magic from Voldemort", Felix suggested tentatively.
"In that case..." Dumbledore smiled, "it shouldn't be a problem, but you'll need to provide solid evidence to satisfy the Ministry of Magic's investigators, likely Fudge himself."
Felix clicked his tongue. "Solid evidence, got it."
He waved his hand, and the massive silver Swift standing at the edge of the pitch let out a sharp cry, spitting out two black shadows from its beak—Dementors that were barely three feet tall and deformed.
They scurried away as quickly as possible, and Felix and Dumbledore watched them disappear.
Dumbledore mused, "Felix, your Patronus has truly amazed me. I thought creating a way to use Patronuses to send messages was a brilliant innovation, but I never imagined you could think of a method to swallow a Dementor."
Felix blinked. "It was a flash of inspiration, Headmaster. But the results are indeed impressive."
On the pitch, Professor Mcgonagall and Madam Hooch had already led Harry away, followed by the disheartened Gryffindor team.
Madam Hooch had just announced Hufflepuff as the winners.
The young wizards began to file out, but many still stared at the platform where Felix stood, whispering to each other. Even without hearing their words, Felix could guess what they were saying.
"Will you go see Harry, Dumbledore?"
"I trust Minerva and Pomona. What about you, Felix?"
"I trust Weasley and Granger."
Dumbledore and Felix exchanged smiles. After a moment, Felix suddenly remembered something. "I recall Harry's broom seemed to be swept away by the wind?"
Dumbledore replied uncertainly, "It should be found, I suppose..."
"True, it can't just disappear."
