Chapter 233: Capturing Dobby
Chapter 233: Capturing Dobby
When the two arrived at the Great Hall for dinner, they were once again warmly welcomed by the young wizards of Gryffindor.
Ivan deliberately spoke with feigned anger about the two times he was attacked by the Bludgers, causing a wave of indignation among the crowd. Everyone began to speculate about who the person was who had cast a spell to disrupt the Quidditch match!
"In my opinion, it must be a Slytherin! They're probably still sore about losing the last match, so they're trying to get back at Harry", George confidently guessed, drawing many nods of agreement from the young wizards.
This statement was quickly met with rebuttals from the young Slytherins, and the Great Hall erupted into a cacophony of arguments. However, this only further fueled the discussion.
By the time Ivan finished his dinner, the chatter had not subsided. Ivan, however, had already quietly left the Great Hall and was wandering in the more secluded areas of the castle.
He knew that Dobby, who had come out in violation of the rules, did not want to be seen by outsiders. Therefore, he usually only appeared when Harry was alone.
However, after wandering around the castle for several hours, Dobby still had not shown up.
Ivan furrowed his brow. Had Dobby not heard the news, or had he been deceived by Tom Riddle?
As the night grew late, Ivan sighed and prepared to return to his dormitory, deciding to wait until the news had spread a bit more before trying again.
Just then, a high-pitched voice suddenly sounded behind him.
"Sir, are you looking for Dobby?"
Ivan spun around, and in the dark corner of the corridor, a small figure slowly emerged.
It had large bat-like ears, a bald head covered in wrinkles, and was draped in a few dirty rags. Two tennis-ball-sized green eyes stared at him intently.
"Yes, that's right, I am looking for you!" Ivan's right hand gripped his wand, but he did not act rashly. A House-Elf could Apparate in an instant, which was much faster than his Stunning Spell!
"Have you heard about what happened on the pitch?" Ivan asked.
"Of course, of course! Dobby watched all of your matches, sir!" Dobby nodded excitedly, then his large green eyes widened as if he had just thought of something.
"Sir, you don't think it was Dobby who controlled the Bludger today, do you?" Dobby asked, panic-stricken.
"Wasn't it?" Ivan feigned confusion.
"How could you think that, sir!" Dobby shook his head vigorously, his bulging eyes glistening with tears.
"Dobby was so worried when he saw you being chased by the Bludger that he could only bash his own toes with rocks down below!"
As he spoke, Dobby extended his left foot, revealing five swollen, dirty toes.
Ivan's lips twitched. He could not understand Dobby's peculiar logic.
"So I hope sir understands that Dobby did not do this!" Dobby retracted his foot, his large, watery eyes looking pitiful.
"Then who sneaked into the dormitory to steal things?" Ivan probed.
"Dobby did not want to steal, sir!" Dobby's eyes welled up with large tears, and he continued in a choked voice.
"But Dobby could not let those dangerous things stay with sir, so he had to find a way to take them out and destroy them!"
Ivan finally understood why Dobby had acted. It was because he and Harry shared a dormitory, which had caused Dobby to worry and led to the idea of stealing the Horcrux.
"So, did you destroy it?" Ivan quickly asked.
"Bad Dobby, bad Dobby!" At this moment, Dobby was already in a state of self-reproach for the theft, repeatedly banging his head against the wall, muttering to himself.
"Stupefy!" Ivan, out of desperation, cast a Stunning Spell to prevent Dobby from suddenly disappearing.
Dobby, who was still banging his head against the wall, didn't react in time and was hit by the spell's light.
Dobby only managed to turn his head and show a look of shock before collapsing on the ground.
Ivan shook his head and dragged the unconscious Dobby into the nearest classroom. He used a Transfiguration Spell to create a rope and tied Dobby up tightly, especially binding his hands multiple times to ensure he couldn't use magic.
After confirming that Dobby couldn't use magic, Ivan lifted the Stunning Spell.
Dobby, dazed, opened his eyes and immediately felt that he was bound.
To Ivan's surprise, Dobby didn't shout or scream. Instead, he just stared at him with bulging eyes. After a moment, tears began to stream down his face, and his lips trembled as he said, "Dobby knows Dobby did many bad things, sir. If punishing Dobby will make you forgive Dobby, then so be it." Dobby broke down and started crying uncontrollably.
"Enough! I just want to ask you some questions", Ivan interrupted Dobby's self-pity.
Suddenly, Ivan felt his body beginning to transform. He realized the effects of the Polyjuice Potion had worn off.
However, Ivan didn't take more potion. Since Dobby was already caught, there was no need to maintain the disguise.
Right in front of Dobby, Ivan's figure began to grow taller, his hair turned golden, and he removed the bothersome glasses.
"You're not Harry Potter!" Dobby's sobbing stopped immediately, and he stared wide-eyed at the young wizard in front of him.
"Of course not, my name is Ivan Hals. Can you tell me where you put that Diary?" Ivan asked.
"Dobby remembers you! You must be trying to use the Dark Lord's things to harm Mr. Potter, right? Dobby won't let you succeed!" Dobby showed a determined and resolute expression, refusing to reveal any information.
Ivan was frustrated. Could they not have a proper conversation?
Ivan had to patiently explain that his goal was the same as Dobby's: to destroy the Dark Lord's items. He repeated the story he had told Harry.
However, Dobby refused to believe him. He had seen Ivan open the Diary and carry it around frequently, so he must be one of the Dark Lord's followers.
"I helped Harry foil the Dark Lord's resurrection plan last year. If you've been paying attention to Harry's activities at school, you would know that!" Ivan insisted that he was on the side of justice and would never be swayed.
Noticing that Dobby was beginning to hesitate, Ivan continued.
"I guess you haven't found a way to destroy that Diary, right? I can help you!"
