Chapter 231: You're Kuro, So You'll Be Navy
Chapter 231: You’re Kuro, So You’ll Be Navy
I suspect you’re targeting me, but I’ve got no proof.
Kuro watched Klah mercilessly beat Sazil, his face twisted in turmoil.
He wanted to stop it, but Klah was Navy confronting a pirate—perfectly justified.
Yet he couldn’t just stand by either…
“Trash, Kuro!”
“I see you and I want to punch something!”
“Why are you so damned useless, Kuro?!”
“Eat dirt, Kuro!”
What the hell was that supposed to be?!
“Klah, I can’t take this anymore! How could you do this?!”
Lida finally snapped, shouting at Klah.
Deng Shi, Kuro felt touched. Lida.
True daughter indeed! Even if she didn’t call him Lucius Kro, just hearing her say “Kuro” warmed his heart.
“You’ve hogged all the yelling, so let me take a turn! It’s my turn to throw some punches!”
Kuro: ……
Watching Lida roll up her sleeves and charge forward, Kuro’s forehead twitched with a dark line.
“Everyone, shut up and freeze!”
Klah immediately halted his assault, feigning innocence. “Kuro-Mr., his name was just too insulting to you! I couldn’t help myself.”
Sazil lay battered beneath him like a swollen pig’s face, missing several teeth and twitching.
Kuro’s lips quirked. If you’d just wiped that grin off your face while saying that, I might’ve believed you.
“Kuro, you actually did this for me—”
Fu Ke Xi, eyes brimming with tears, roared at Navy, “Don’t hurt my partner! Come for me instead! As captain, I’m ready to endure your torture! But no matter how cruel you get, I’ll never beg for mercy!”
“Hmph?”
Kuro glared.
He’d nearly forgotten that idiot…
……
“Gaaaahhhhh!”
“Help me!”
“Blackie Servant!”
“Daddy Klas!”
Outside the ship, Fu Ke Xi thrashed wildly, bound by thick ropes.
The warship sailed on, but beneath Fu Ke Xi in the sea, several pairs of red eyes glowed hungrily, watching.
“Boss…”
Far behind, Fu Ke Xi’s pirate ship trailed at a distance. Bo Er Qi raised a telescope, silently weeping.
Fu Ke Xi’s ropes connected to a fishing rod. Kuro sat on the ship’s edge, chewing a cigar, staring down at him. “Stop squirming, Butthead, or I’ll toss you into the ocean.”
“...Asshead?!”
Fu Ke Xi’s face turned ashen. He froze.
Partly from fear—being Devil Fruit user made the sea a death sentence. Partly from the crushing humiliation of that nickname.
“Commander.”
A lieutenant approached, glancing at the distant speck trailing them. “Shouldn’t we arrest them?”
“Forget it. They’re too far to engage, and they’re not stupid enough to come closer.”
Kuro shook his head. He didn’t feel like chasing them. These pirates were just playing games—no real threat.
Killing them seemed excessive. Arresting them would be a hassle.
Same approach as always: let them be.
“Bring him over!”
Klah cheerfully dragged Sazil, bound like a roasted goose, and tossed him beside Kuro. “Kuro-Mr., we’ve got answers.”
Sazil knelt behind Kuro, his face swollen into a darker shade of gloom and confusion.
Originally, he’d resolved to say nothing—pirate integrity, after all! Sure, he’d schemed, but he had principles! No way he’d betray secrets!
But that bespectacled brute hadn’t even asked a question. He’d just started pummeling him, shouting “Kuro!” like he wanted to grind Kuro’s bones to dust.
Sazil couldn’t endure the injustice. To stop the beating, he’d spilled everything.
Sa Zi Er Kuro, Grand Line native, 16 years old, fresh pirate barely out of the “apprentice pirate” phase.
His martial art: “Nails Martial Art,” taught by a one-eyed, one-handed cranky old man from his birth island.
Kuro wasn’t surprised about the hand-to-hand combat style—unarmed techniques were common here. From Earthquake Fist to Eight Trigrams Palm, herbal combat to dragontamer styles, these weren’t mere habits but actual martial arts with power.
Kuro had always planned to upgrade his physical abilities. This technique might offer insights.
“I’ll share my personal details, but I’ll never reveal the ‘Nails Martial Art’!”
In his mind, Sazil recalled that old man, missing an arm and eye, with a temper to match.
He gritted his teeth: “Even if you kill me, I’ll never speak!”
He said it with conviction.
“Hey, Navy, you hear me?! I’ll never, Ever talk!” Sazil roared.
“Quiet.”
Kuro waved him off, eyes fixed on the sea, anticipation glowing.
“It’s here.”
Boom!
The ocean exploded. A Sea King as large as a warship lunged up, swallowing Fu Ke Xi whole.
Before it could chew, the Sea King’s face turned green. With a violent spray, it spat Fu Ke Xi out like a meteor, his screams fading into the horizon.
Devil Fruit users probably tasted as awful as Devil Fruits themselves.
“Well, looks like we caught something.” Kuro smirked.
“My turn! Let me test my new technique!”
Lida vaulted onto the ship’s edge, leaping high into the air. Mid-flight, her figure shimmered, reverting to her girl form. Fist drawn to her waist, she radiated a familiar energy.
Sazil’s eyes widened.
“Nails Style!”
Her arm glowed with Armament Haki, power concentrating in her fist. She rocketed toward the Sea King’s throat.
Boom!!!
The Sea King’s face caved in, a gaping hole torn through its neck. Blood sprayed as it crashed soundlessly into the ocean, crimson blooming.
“Whoa, amazing as always!”
Lida executed a flawless Moonstep back to the Deck, shaking her fist with satisfaction. “Kuro, this martial art’s pretty strong!”
Sazil stared, stunned, at her bouncing form.
How did she learn Nails Martial Art?!
And how was her power so off-the-charts?!
Could Nails Martial Art even reach this level?!
The style focused on concentrating power into a single point, sharp as nails, with techniques built from force combinations.
But Lida? She’d mastered it just by watching once.
Her strength was formidable even without absorbing essence. Now focused into one spot with Haki enhancement, toppling a Sea King was routine.
“This style’s not bad. Practice long enough, and it’ll boost your Haki too. Give me the secrets later—I’ll train it too.” Kuro told Lida.
“Got it.”
Lida pulled out a giant banana, peeled it, took a bite, and nodded.
“As for you…”
Kuro reeled in his fishing rod, turning to Sazil cross-legged, blowing cigar smoke. “What to do? At your age and talent, you’ll rise soon enough. But if I don’t release you, you’ve done no real harm yet. You taught me an unarmed technique, and we share the same name. Killing you feels awkward.”
“Kuro-Mr., I’ve got a proposal.”
Klah pushed his glasses, lenses gleaming.
“Since he’s also Kuro, he can’t stay a pirate. If not a civilian, make him Navy instead.”
“Navy? I’ll never be Navy! I’m a pirate!” Sazil thrashed.
Klah grinned. “Plenty of pirates turn Navy eventually. Isn’t that right, Kuro?”
He emphasized the name, eyes shining.
I can’t touch the real Kuro, but this fake one? I’ll beat him senseless!
Victory through imagination was still victory!
