Chapter 231: Lanchi's Magnum Opus
Chapter 231: Lanchi's Magnum Opus
The mottled wood grain of the eaves, weathered by the elements, remained resilient, its dark hue exuding a fragrant patina of time. Each raindrop that fell upon it created a soft, soothing sound.
As the raindrops slid off the eaves, carrying with them the coolness of the air, they landed on the earth, creating tiny splashes.
"Hurry up, Hurberrian. The wind is picking up."
"Okay, see you at school tomorrow!"
They had agreed to go to Dean Lorren's office together the next day to submit their applications.
After bidding Hurberrian farewell...
Lanchi opened his umbrella, propped it on his shoulder, and squatted down, a smile playing on his lips as he gazed at his shadow without saying a word.
He reached out his hands towards his shadow.
After a moment, Cat Boss emerged from his shadow and jumped into his outstretched hand.
"Lanchi meow... How did you know I was there...?"
Cuddled in Lanchi's arm, Cat Boss asked guiltily.
"On a rainy day like this, don't hide in my shadow. You'll catch a cold."
Lanchi said gently.
"Meow... Sorry..."
Cat Boss buried his feline head deeper, feeling even more ashamed.
Turns out Lanchi had known all along and, instead of scolding him, was being so gentle.
From now on, he wouldn't secretly hide in Lanchi's shadow anymore.
With a smile on his face, Lanchi carried the little black cat and walked home under the umbrella.
In fact, every time he left the Cat Boss Restaurant, he would do this little test to see if Cat Boss was hiding in his shadow.
It just so happened that it was raining today, so he tried it under the eaves, and lo and behold, he caught the cat.
"Why do you follow me, Cat Boss? Is there something special about me?" Lanchi asked.
"What do you think of Hurberrian and Tata?" Cat Boss asked curiously.
These past few days, Hurberrian had been staying at the Cat Boss Restaurant, and they had quickly become good friends.
Cat Boss had discovered that Hurberrian was also a good kid, and Lanchi only seemed normal when he was around her.
Now, Cat Boss didn't know whether to ship Lanchi with Tata or Hurberrian.
What puzzled him the most was how the three of them could get along so harmoniously... Cat Boss had been utterly shocked by this development.
Based on his experience, when one guy and two girls who were close friends stayed together, there should be explosive, dramatic love triangles every day! This kept him tossing and turning at night, so he decided to observe Lanchi more closely or just ask him directly.
"They are my companions and teachers," Lanchi replied.
"Don't you have any other thoughts?" Cat Boss asked, lifting his cat head to stare at Lanchi's emerald green eyes.
"No," Lanchi said matter-of-factly.
"But don't you think they are both unique and special to you?" Cat Boss asked again, rephrasing his question after a moment's hesitation.
He was determined to figure out Lanchi's true feelings for Tata and Hurberrian today.
"Everyone is unique and special to me," Lanchi smiled, his love encompassing all people.
"So, do you like one of them a little more?" Cat Boss persisted, his voice rising slightly as he struggled to get a straight answer.
Surely you can't be impartial this time!
"My love is equal for all," Lanchi asserted.
"Meow..." Cat Boss was getting frustrated.
"Don't you have any human desires at all?" he asked.
Why did he have to encounter such an unusual male lead in a love story? His anticipation for a romantic plotline had come to a grinding halt with Lanchi!
"I think so," Lanchi replied thoughtfully, giving a serious answer.
"Hmm?" Cat Boss immediately perked up, all ears.
If he still had desires, then he wasn't a desireless saint. There might still be a chance for a romantic storyline!
"I want world peace.
"I want world peace," Lanchi said.
"...'
It felt that he wasn't joking and meant those words sincerely.
Based on what it had recently learned about Lanchi from eavesdropping on Tata and Hurberrian's conversations, he was a rather eccentric fellow, and anything that caught his eye would surely meet a dire end.
Hearing Lanchi speak of desiring world peace sent shivers down Cat Boss's spine, and he remained silent for the rest of the journey.
...
Before long, Lanchi returned to his Dorm Room 101.
He turned on the light, put down Cat Boss, hung his coat on the rack, and then walked straight into his card-making workshop, which was a spacious storage room he had modified.
Card-making this time around was particularly dangerous, so he had even spent a hefty sum on an external top-grade anti-explosion barrier.
As Lanchi opened the door to the workshop, a hint of seriousness gleamed in his eyes, and the once tidy room now had walls pinned with various blueprints and charts.
The workbench was piled high with all sorts of materials and remnants of heavy firearms, while Great Lover was seated at the table, preparing for the card-making process.
Left alone in the workshop that morning, Great Lover had a keen interest in card-making and was so focused that even Lanchi couldn't distract her.
However, upon his return, Lanchi noticed that Great Lover had transformed once more.
She had cleverly twisted her hair into an exquisite bun at the back of her head, each strand carefully arranged to look both orderly and elegant, with a few loose strands gently framing her cheeks and neck.
Great Lover now wore a white shirt and a fitted black pencil skirt, exuding a capable and professional aura, and she had even put on golden-colored contact lenses.
Lanchi was startled at first glance, as she looked exactly like the real Talia.
"I asked you to emulate Tata and create some mental pressure for me during card-making, not to go this far..."
Lanchi felt that if Talia were to see Great Lover like this, there would be serious trouble.
Cat Boss, who had followed them from outside and now stood at the workshop door, was equally stunned.
He felt that these two were going to get them all killed one day.
Talia had been so angry the last time, and now they wanted to play an even bigger game?
"You said this card-making process was important, so I dressed up like this to meet your requirements," Great Lover explained with a helpless shrug, feeling that Lanchi was hard to please.
"Enough, drop it. You're making it worse," Lanchi waved his hand dismissively, not wanting to continue the conversation. He walked over to the safe, opened it, and took out two items stored within.
In his left hand, he held a stone with a peculiar silver-gray surface, which was actually a heart that had not decayed over a long period, still pulsating with an unquenchable strong vitality that could be felt just by touching it.
Under the workshop's lighting, Lanchi could clearly see the flowing light within, a miraculous ancient magic shimmering.
In his right hand, he held a pure red, leaf-shaped crystal stone, a pink Sacred-grade material obtained by decomposing the self-destruct spell [Destructive Spark] taken from Phoenix.
Cat Boss, sitting on the floor, vigorously shook his head, filled with skepticism about life.
Although he couldn't discern the grades of these two materials, they were clearly beyond his understanding!
"Lanchi meow! Don't you have any common sense? These two materials have absolutely no compatibility!" Cat Boss exclaimed.
"Rest assured, whether it's sealing or fire, I'm an expert," Lanchi replied calmly.
He walked slowly to his workbench, which was already covered with his material ratio calculations, production process drafts, and scrolls written in both human and demon magic scripts.
"I will become a seal master who brings warmth and peace to everyone," Lanchi said, gazing at the table before him.
