Chapter 231: A Claim of Ownership, A Vow to Die in Repentance
Chapter 231: A Claim of Ownership, A Vow to Die in Repentance
Deep within the White Snake Ridge, it wasn’t particularly noisy. Despite the influx of people, they all kept to their own territories, maintaining a semblance of tranquility.
Yellow Bull had chosen a prime spot atop a hill, from where they could clearly see the peculiar little pine tree in the distance.
"It’s not fully ripe yet, looks like we’ll have to wait until noon", Shaohua glanced over and immediately knew how much time they had left.
"There’s a mountain spring here, and I brought some marinated dragon meat from last night. We can have a quick bite", Chu Feng, fully geared up and even wearing a homemade face mask, spoke in a muffled voice.
While some people at Heavenly God Biotech knew he wasn’t an ordinary person, it was best to keep a low profile, at least until his parents were safe. Mainly, he still wasn’t entirely sure of his own strength. Living with this elder sister, any improvement in his abilities seemed insignificant. One slap from her, and he’d still be on his knees singing a song of submission.
Yellow Bull poked the ground with its front hoof, looking somewhat embarrassed as it dug a small hole. Chu Feng, with his keen senses, noticed and furrowed his brow, then seemed to remember something, rummaging through the large bags on either side of the saddle.
Sure enough, apart from a few arrows, the bags were empty.
"Damn, are you a pig? We just had breakfast!" Chu Feng’s forehead twitched as he hissed in a low voice.
"Moo!" Yellow Bull, feeling somewhat guilty, let out a call, essentially saying that the journey had been tiring and it had eaten along the way.
"Alright, I fed it. This kid is still growing, and we can’t let it go hungry", Shaohua stroked Yellow Bull’s silky golden fur, speaking softly.
It was true. Yellow Bull was only a bit over a meter tall, clearly still a calf. It had told Shaohua that it was only four or five years old, having traveled from a distant place to seek the opportunity to become a saint.
Such a young one, indeed a child.
"Moo!" Yellow Bull lifted its head, grinning, feeling the warmth of having someone on its side. It loved this feeling.
"You’re just spoiling it", Chu Feng pouted, not saying more. He turned to prepare for a hunt in the mountains, planning to roast some wild game.
As for the safety of their temporary base, he scanned the surroundings and couldn’t help but chuckle. As long as no one made a huge mistake, they’d be quite safe.
After Chu Feng temporarily left, a Mutant climbed up the hill and politely asked Shaohua to leave, saying that someone from Heavenly God Biotech had taken a liking to the place.
"Really, Heavenly God Biotech? If Lin Nuoyi herself had come to say this, I might have considered letting her stay. But who are you representing?" Shaohua asked.
She had already dismounted Yellow Bull, her tall and slender figure standing out even among many men. Her simple, calm question left the Mutant trembling, his thoughts in disarray.
The authority and presence she exuded were far beyond what a normal person could possess, overwhelming and awe-inspiring.
Shaohua shook her head, not bothering to ask further.
Yellow Bull, seeing this, kicked the Mutant off the hill with its hoof.
The Mutant, now clear-headed, was furious. He had been kicked by a cow! He scrambled back up the hill, determined to attack the detestable Yellow Bull.
With a low growl, he opened his mouth and spat out a stream of blue flames, intense and scorching, melting the rocks on the hillside.
"Moo!"
Yellow Bull, far from being an easy target, stepped forward. Instead of standing up and using the Great Bull Demon Fist in front of everyone, it used the Daoist Resonance Art.
Its already golden horns shone brightly as it charged, creating a powerful gale that shook the earth and sent sand and stones flying.
Without any extra movements, Yellow Bull charged through the blue flames and kicked the Mutant away.
The Mutant was sent flying, spitting blood as he plummeted down the hill.
The Daoist Resonance Art provided a protective layer of mysterious energy, like a pale golden veil, shielding it from the flames.
"Moo!" Yellow Bull raised its head, its small horns giving a sense of piercing the sky, stunning the onlookers. They looked at the elegant figure on the hill with newfound respect.
If her pet was this formidable, what about her own strength?
Some thought she was just a beast tamer, with her power invested in Yellow Bull. Others believed she might be even more powerful, having tamed the beast through her own strength.
"Seems there are many extraordinary people here. We can’t underestimate anyone", Lin Yeyu observed, his eyes fixed on the hill.
"That’s too embarrassing. They didn’t even give us any face. It’s just a cow. We need to teach that cow and its owner a lesson", Xu Wanyi said.
Beside her stood a woman who looked very similar—none other than Xu Wanqing, her sister.
Xu Wanqing, after being vouched for by the Mu family, had been brought along by her sister. They didn’t recognize Shaohua, only knowing what Chu Feng looked like.
After all, Shaohua had only met Lin Nuoyi the previous day, and the latter had been careful to keep their interaction private. Others only knew that she had had a close encounter with a woman.
Lin Yeyu, Lin Nuoyi’s uncle, realized the person on the hill was connected to his niece.
"Bad move, we were too hasty. I was just passing by to check things out. Taihang Mountain is handled by Nuoyi and the others. I should go apologize. Actually, since it involves Nuoyi, I’ll go myself."
Lin Yeyu knew better than to underestimate anyone who could befriend his niece. Even Chu Feng had somehow gained the strength to fight Mutants, and he was still figuring out how to deal with this.
"Night Feather!" Xu Wanyi was upset, feeling this was even more embarrassing.
"I don’t want to disrupt Nuoyi and the others’ plans. Besides, I have a bad feeling about this place. There’s a great danger here, and we shouldn’t stay long", Lin Yeyu said firmly.
Just as he was about to leave, a radiant figure descended from the sky, landing on the hill where Shaohua was. She was incredibly beautiful, dressed in white, spotless, with a pair of glowing wings, her appearance ethereal and captivating.
"Who is that? She’s so beautiful!" Many were amazed.
"Sister, we meet again", Lu Shiyun smiled, walking towards Shaohua.
This time, Yellow Bull didn’t block her, instead looking somewhat embarrassed, pawing at the ground.
Yesterday, it had ambushed this woman, only to realize it had made a mistake. She was just passing by, drawn by the willow branches hanging over the wall.
People were surprised. This radiant woman was trying to befriend the owner of the Yellow Bull?
"It’s you. We meet again", Shaohua smiled, instinctively reaching out to pinch Lu Shiyun’s cheek.
Lu Shiyun’s eyes flashed with surprise, unable to avoid the touch. When Shaohua’s hand made contact, she felt an unexpected warmth, like the gentle caress of a long-lost mother, making her feel almost entranced.
Deeper within her soul, something significant was awakening, bringing a sense of inexplicable joy and heartache.
Despite her radiant smile, her eyes were filled with tears.
This sudden change left her dazed, her legs weak, and she fell into the arms of the woman in front of her.
"Master..." she murmured, her voice barely audible, before fainting.
Shaohua’s delicate figure trembled, nearly dropping the beauty in her arms.
This truly frightened her. It was the first time her flawless face showed panic.
Not a little sister, and certainly not the way to claim ownership!
"But... maybe it’s not so bad?" Shaohua quickly regained her composure, a smile playing on her lips. After all, she wasn’t losing anything.
Wait, she didn’t like girls!
Lin Yeyu, arriving at the foot of the hill, saw this scene and was taken aback. Recognizing the woman with the snowy wings, he knew who she was.
"Lu Shiyun, the sister of White Tiger?"
This was not good news. White Tiger and Heavenly God Biotech had a history.
Of the four known Mutants, White Tiger was affiliated with the government, Silver-Winged Sky Deity with Heavenly God Biotech, and Adamantine with Bodhi Genetics. The latter two were confirmed to be in Taihang Mountain, setting the stage for a confrontation.
"Trouble", Lin Yeyu’s expression darkened.
Especially when he saw Shaohua, fingers like a sword, casually cutting through a boulder the size of a round table, and placing the unconscious Lu Shiyun on the smooth surface, his unease grew.
"What did you do to our lady?" As White Tiger’s sister, Lu Shiyun was not alone. Someone immediately rushed over.
"I didn’t do anything. She fainted on her own. I suggest you don’t move her; if anything happens, I won’t be responsible", Shaohua replied.
Lu Shiyun had brought only a few people, not intending to cause trouble. She had hoped to benefit from the chaos, but things had taken an unexpected turn.
The few people could only reluctantly step back to guard her.
After all, Shaohua’s feat of breaking the boulder with her bare hands had stunned everyone, confirming she was a powerful Mutant in her own right, not just relying on a mutated Yellow Bull.
"Who are you... Oh, I see, you’re here to apologize?" Shaohua’s gaze swept past Lin Yeyu, landing on Xu Wanqing behind him.
During her meeting with Lin Nuoyi yesterday, she had seen Xu Wanqing’s photo and recognized her immediately.
However, Shaohua was mistaken, having forgotten about Yellow Bull kicking a Mutant off the hill. She assumed these people were here because of Chu Feng.
This wouldn’t do, as he was under her protection!
"Right, I’m here to apologize, about—"
Lin Yeyu was cut off by Shaohua, who smiled and pointed at Xu Wanqing. "Let her atone with her life, and we’ll be even."
The air grew heavy.
"You crazy woman, we just wanted this hill. Your cow already injured our leader. Is a minor conflict worth a life?" Before Lin Yeyu could speak, Xu Wanyi exploded.
Regardless of the value, no one would sacrifice their own sister for an apology.
Lin Yeyu remained silent, staring at the breathtakingly beautiful woman, feeling a sense of regret.
Xu Wanqing was on the verge of losing it. She had been having a string of bad luck, and now someone wanted her to die in atonement. Her temper flared, and she lunged at the woman, determined to destroy that perfect face.
Seeing that ethereal beauty, Xu Wanqing’s face twisted. She was beautiful, but this woman was incomparable.
"I’ll destroy that face..." was her last thought.
In the next moment, Shaohua’s hand shot out, her fingers pale and long, gripping Xu Wanqing’s neck and pulling her over with a commanding presence.
A not-so-weak Mutant, easily overpowered, left everyone in shock.
"Do you hate me?" Shaohua raised an eyebrow, a cold smile on her lips.
"Uh... uh..." Xu Wanqing couldn’t even speak, her eyes rolling back.
"Wanqing!" Xu Wanyi was horror-struck.
"Let go, we can talk about this", Lin Yeyu took a deep breath, unwilling to leave his fiancée’s sister behind.
Shaohua ignored them, her gaze shifting to where Lin Nuoyi was.
On another hill, not far away, Lin Nuoyi sensed something and looked over.
She stood on the hill, her long hair swaying in the wind, her demeanor cold and beautiful.
"What’s happening over there?" she asked the people from Heavenly God Biotech around her.
"A woman riding a Yellow Bull had a conflict with your uncle. Young Master Mu has gone to handle it", someone replied.
Lin Nuoyu’s expression changed, a soft light enveloping her as she floated over.
Unfortunately, she was too late.
"It’s been a while, I’ve missed you", Shaohua smiled, a beauty that could captivate a city.
If only the sound of a neck cracking could be ignored.
As for Xu Wanqing, she lay unconscious next to her sister.
The hill was left with only Lin Yeyu, sitting on the ground in a daze, his head slightly sunken in.
Everyone else had been dealt with, but he had received a special treatment—a gentle pat on the head. Shaohua had physically erased his memory, perhaps a bit too much, sending him back to his teenage years.
