Chapter 230: The Blaze Dragon Egg
Chapter 230: The Blaze Dragon Egg
As players entered the Sea Serpent Castle, they were met with hostile glares from the NPCs inside.
However, the players paid no mind to these glares, dispersing throughout the castle with grins on their faces. They followed the instructions Snow Leopard had posted in the chat room, searching every room in the castle.
The NPCs inside the castle looked at each other, but not a single one dared to make a move.
...
Upon reaching the castle's grand hall, Snow Leopard first took a moment to survey the layout.
He then instructed the Crimson Eye Black Dragon:
"Little Red, go to Derrick Gassang's study and search for hidden compartments in the walls. I'll look for the castle's treasure chamber."
"Little Red." The Crimson Eye Black Dragon couldn't help but twitch his lips at the nickname.
It was the first time anyone had called him that.
But he quickly regained his composure and replied, "Sure, Little Snow. I'll head to the study right away."
With that, he ran off down a side corridor, leaving Snow Leopard's glare to fall on empty air.
Before the mission began, Snow Leopard and Crimson Eye had spent considerable time studying the layout of castles in the game world, learning where nobles typically hid their treasures.
High-ranking nobles often stored their valuables in hidden compartments in their studies or underground chambers. These chambers were usually well-concealed and numerous, often protected by magic locks and traps, making them difficult to find and access.
For example, Snow Leopard found an entrance to a hidden chamber in the wall of a first-floor dressing room. Based on the direction of the entrance, he deduced that this was likely the chamber of the head of the household, Derrick Gassang.
However, the chamber was secured by two high-quality magic locks.
Snow Leopard first tried to have his team unlock the chamber, but after 10 minutes of unsuccessful attempts, he called in the Saint Warrior, Hamil.
Hamil, with his brute strength, used a single [Barbaric Charge] to smash through the chamber door, destroying the magic locks with sheer force.
Snow Leopard thanked Hamil and then had his team pack up all the valuables in the chamber and take them away.
The Crimson Eye Black Dragon also had a fruitful search.
He led the players through a thorough search of the study, uncovering many valuable items from the bookshelves and hidden compartments in the walls. These items included sculptures, paintings, scrolls, high-level potions, and small pieces of jewelry.
In just about three hours, Snow Leopard successfully cracked all 12 hidden chambers, while the Crimson Eye Black Dragon thoroughly searched the studies, living quarters, and bedrooms of the Gassang family's core members.
A vast amount of valuable weapons, armor, magical items, monster materials, and precious gems were happily collected by the players and stowed in their backpacks.
Similar scenes played out across the entire city.
From the grand castles of top-tier nobles to the estates, banks, and headquarters of various guilds of lesser nobles, players enthusiastically "visited" these places.
Lao Meng, also known as [Unbreakable Alliance], was one of those who "raided the banks."
Under his leadership, players sang the Soviet national anthem as they stormed into the bank, armed with assault rifles. They packed away all the assets of the noble class, leaving not a single Psychic Coin behind.
...
During the players' city-wide activities, there were instances of intense resistance from NPCs. For example, during the search of a lesser noble's estate, the players were ambushed and several of them were killed.
However, the players could revive, and Su Yu quickly sent reinforcements to eliminate the offending noble. The overall operation was not significantly affected.
After clearing one area, the players immediately moved on to the next.
Once their backpacks were full, they brought their loot to the central square where Su Yu stood, dumping the confiscated items on the ground. The square was soon covered in a dazzling array of weapons, armor, potions, gems, and magical crystals, as well as various artworks and sculptures. At the center, the pile of treasures grew as high as a small mountain.
The high-ranking Golden Fleece members in the sky couldn't help but gaze down at the mountain of treasures with envy.
Seahaven, one of the top five wealthiest cities on the continent, truly had a rich and powerful aristocracy! The Seahaven elites, seeing their accumulated wealth lying on the ground, looked grim, their hearts aching.
Before long, Snow Leopard arrived. Silently, he took out a Chrysalis Dragon Egg from his backpack and placed it on the ground. It was the most valuable item he had found in the secret chamber.
The sight of the dragon egg, which seemed to be covered in molten lava, triggered a series of exclamations from the sky:
"My God! That's a red dragon egg!"
"Musby, your Gesang family is impressive! You even have a red dragon egg!"
"A red dragon egg is worth millions!"
"Someone from the Gesang family, are you not afraid the dragons will come after you?"
Musby Gesang's face turned ashen.
He had gone through great lengths to obtain the red dragon egg from the neighboring Wind Chime continent, intending to have a direct descendant of his family hatch it. He never imagined it would be discovered by interdimensional adventurers!
Su Yu also saw the red dragon egg. His eyes lit up, and he quickly used three consecutive Teleportation Spells to reach Snow Leopard, picking up the egg from the ground.
"Snow Leopard, you found a good one!"
Noticing that the high-ranking members in the sky were starting to gather around the egg, he quickly stashed it in his backpack and addressed them, "Everyone, there's no need to come over. I'll give this egg to the princess, and she can decide what to do with it."
The high-ranking members understood that it wouldn't be appropriate to crowd around and left.
...
As Su Yu put the dragon egg away, Snow Leopard received a game notification: "Ding! Task item Chrysalis Dragon Egg has been received. You have earned 14,530,000 Contribution Points!"
Snow Leopard looked at Su Yu, "Counter, what are these Contribution Points for?"
Su Yu also received the game notification, along with an explanation of Contribution Points. After understanding it, he explained to Snow Leopard, "Contribution Points are the total value of the loot you've collected, converted into Psychic Coins. After the task is completed, you can exchange Contribution Points for Psychic Coins at a ratio of 1000:1."
"1000:1? So this dragon egg can be exchanged for over 14,000 Psychic Coins?" Snow Leopard exclaimed.
At their current level, they usually earned just a few Psychic Coins per task, and even the better ones might yield a dozen or so. A lucky encounter with an epic task might net them a hundred or so Psychic Coins.
This time, a single dragon egg earned them over 14,000 Psychic Coins! No wonder Counter said the rewards for this task were good; they really were generous!
