Chapter 23: Little Sun and Red Chili Pepper
Chapter 23: Little Sun and Red Chili Pepper
Before Mu Yue were three scrolls, which he opened one by one. The first contained money, and when Mu Yue counted it, there was a total of two hundred thousand taels.
Mu Yue put the money away, for one could never have too much money, no matter the world.
Ninjas also spent a lot. Whether it was for various ninja tools or secret elixirs needed for cultivation, expenses quickly added up.
He then opened the second scroll and found a C-rank ninjutsu, Fire Style: Fireball.
This was a technique Mu Yue hadn't come across yet. However, as he had already mastered a wide range of fire-style jutsu, both large-scale and flexible, he saw no need to waste time practicing this one.
Mu Yue picked up the last scroll and unfurled it. This was Danzo's response to his report.
Danzo first praised Mu Yue for his excellent work, becoming an outstanding teacher and earning the praise of the Third Hokage. He expressed his satisfaction and provided a reward, along with a request for Mu Yue...
Skipping over Danzo's attempt at manipulation, Mu Yue went straight to his request.
"Become Asuma Sarutobi's private tutor, gain his trust, and become someone he respects." This was Danzo's response to Mu Yue's report.
Mu Yue kept the ninjutsu scroll and burned the other two scrolls.
Even though he didn't plan on using them, they were still freebies from Danzo, and it seemed a waste to destroy them.
"That old fox Danzo never gives up, does he?" Mu Yue sighed.
It was clear that Danzo had his sights set on the position of Hokage and was eyeing the Third's youngest son.
However, Mu Yue didn't mind. At most, he would spare a few hours on the weekend, and it wouldn't affect him much.
"Should I sell the house in the main city?" Mu Yue suddenly thought of something.
The previous owner, of course, hadn't always lived in the sparsely populated area near the southern forest. In fact, he owned a house in the main district of Konoha, inherited from his parents.
But to conceal his identity, he had moved to the southern forest.
Although he didn't live there often, the original owner would return to clean the house in the main city every year.
Mu Yue thought that since he wasn't going to live there, he might as well sell it. He recalled that the house was in a good location and might be worth a lot of money. He could then use the funds to buy secret elixirs for cultivation.
Even with the system's help, every little bit of self-improvement counted.
With that in mind, Mu Yue set out for the main district of Konoha to inspect the house and tidy it up before putting it up for sale.
Following the original owner's memory, Mu Yue located the house. As he prepared to unlock the door, a golden-haired figure emerged from the neighboring house.
"Hello, are you a new resident?" greeted Minato Namikaze, intrigued.
He had bought his house several months ago and hadn't seen anyone move into the house on the right until now, so he assumed he had a new neighbor.
When Mu Yue turned around, Minato recognized the golden hair and blue eyes, instantly recalling their previous encounter in the library.
It wasn't that he had a superhuman memory for everyone he met, but because he, too, had golden hair and blue eyes, and Mu Yue's gentle smile reminded him of meeting another version of himself. Thus, the encounter left an impression.
"No, this is my family home, but due to some circumstances, I moved out and rarely come back," Mu Yue explained with a smile.
He decided that he didn't need to sell the house after all; it was nice to keep it.
Previously, he had been worried about finding a way to get close to Minato to mooch knowledge about sealing techniques. Now, it seemed that problem had solved itself, as they were neighbors, and by rights, Minato had moved in after him.
"Minato, I've come to see you.
Kushina remarked, her eyes on Mu Yue, who wore a similar gentle smile and shared the same golden hair and blue eyes.
"Apologies, this is my girlfriend," Minato explained apologetically to Mu Yue, "as you can see, she's a little too lively."
"This is my neighbor..." Minato began, intending to introduce Mu Yue by name, only to realize he didn't know it.
"I'm Mu Yue," Mu Yue introduced himself.
"Nice to meet you," Kushina said, popping her head out from behind Minato and adding, "I'm Kushina Uzumaki. Your name's quite nice, by the way."
"And I'm Minato Namikaze," Minato said with a smile, gently extracting himself from Kushina's embrace.
"Thank you," Mu Yue replied as he opened the door, "and your fiery red hair is quite stunning as well."
Kushina's eyes lit up, and she gave a thumbs-up. "Impressive! You have good taste."
She could tell that Mu Yue was a charmer.
As Mu Yue opened the door, dust and grime that had accumulated in the crevices billowed out.
Mu Yue took a quick glance inside; it wasn't extremely dirty, just very dusty from lack of use.
"Apologies, but I'm afraid I can't entertain you just yet. I need to clean up first," Mu Yue said, turning to them.
"Then we won't disturb you," Minato said, and he led Kushina back to their home.
Mu Yue watched as they left, then turned his attention to appraising Kushina.
Name: Kushina
Chakra: 150,000 (???)
Potential: SS
Evaluation: Proficient in sealing techniques and possesses an extraordinarily large amount of unique chakra that is beyond the reach of ordinary people.
Mu Yue couldn't help but be envious of her chakra levels, and the question marks within the brackets were a curiosity he hadn't seen before.
He surmised that it indicated Kushina had become the Jinchuriki for the Nine-Tails, and since the tailed beast hadn't been appraised, it appeared as a question mark.
Kushina's potential was truly frightening—the highest Mu Yue had seen so far.
However, based on the original storyline, he guessed that at least one of the 'S' ratings was due to the presence of the Nine-Tails within her. Without it, her potential would likely drop to a single 'S'.
Otherwise, with double 'S' potential, she wouldn't need the Nine-Tails at all. She could wreak havoc on her own, and yet, in the original story, Minato and the Third Hokage, who didn't possess the beast, were only rated as 'S'.
Mu Yue created ten shadow clones using the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique and set them to work cleaning the house.
Once again, he marveled at Tobirama's genius in developing such a convenient jutsu.
After the clones had finished cleaning, Mu Yue purchased some household items and placed them inside.
He didn't rush to visit Minato's house, intending to drop by occasionally and let their friendship develop naturally.
He opened the window to let in the evening breeze and began refining the training plan for his disciples.
Both Might Guy and Obito, who hadn't placed first in their year, would require targeted reinforcement training.
For Kakashi, Mu Yue planned to enhance his chakra control, improving his current combat abilities and laying the foundation for future genjutsu training.
