Chapter 23: Fire Imp and the Hybrid Giant Lizard
Chapter 23: Fire Imp and the Hybrid Giant Lizard
Su Nan's expression remained cold as he continued to release bursts of acid.
His targets were the knight-level Black-Scaled Lizards.
In just a few dozen breaths, seven Black-Scaled Lizards had fallen to his spells.
The Black-Scaled Lizards were already at a disadvantage, and with Su Nan's intervention, the tide of battle turned even more against them.
The scales of victory began to tip in favor of Blackrock City.
"Roar!"
At that moment, a roar suddenly erupted!
It was the Black-Scaled Lizard Chief, who had noticed the threat Su Nan posed and decided to eliminate this human with strange powers first.
But just as he made his move, Koyi intercepted him.
"Lizard brain, your opponent is me!"
Koyi sneered and swung his sword.
The peak knight-level strength, combined with the enhancement from the Strength Potion, created a deafening sonic boom as the blade cut through the air.
The Black-Scaled Lizard Chief's eyes narrowed in fear, and he dared not meet the attack head-on. He hastily retreated, losing his chance to get close to Su Nan.
"Jiruwa ji."
The Black-Scaled Lizard Chief emitted a strange, piercing sound.
Koyi took it as a defiant curse and prepared to continue his attack. But suddenly, he sensed something was wrong and quickly looked in Su Nan's direction.
A massive black shadow had appeared from behind the battlefield and was rapidly charging towards Su Nan.
Bred noticed the shadow first and instantly turned around, roaring in anger as he raised his Blackrock Iron Shield to collide with the incoming threat!
Bang!
A deafening thud echoed through the air as Bred was sent flying like a broken kite.
The black shadow, however, only retreated a few steps, shook its head, and quickly regained its composure.
Taking this opportunity, Su Nan also identified the true form of the shadow.
It was a giant lizard, about seven to eight meters long, covered in cold, hard, black-red scales.
"Didn't expect these lizard brains to use a diversionary tactic."
Su Nan smirked, but his face showed no sign of panic.
He had noticed this monster before Koyi and Bred and had already prepared a spell. Without hesitation, he cast a Sleep Charm.
This giant lizard was clearly a hybrid with Dragon Lizard blood, capable of easily knocking back Bred, who had consumed a Strength Potion. Its combat power likely reached peak knight level, and acid splashes would probably do little damage, only serving to enrage it.
Thus, Su Nan chose the Sleep Charm.
The giant lizard, about to charge, suddenly swayed its head as if drunk, staggering in place.
"Truly a hybrid bloodline, even resisting a Sleep Charm."
Su Nan's lips twitched, and he immediately pulled out a Level 1 Summon Monster Spell scroll, activating it instantly.
In an instant, a glowing hexagram appeared a few meters in front of him.
As the light flickered, a being less than a meter tall, surrounded by scorching flames, materialized out of thin air. It opened its mouth and let out a clear, childlike laugh.
"A Fire Imp, not bad luck."
A smile spread across Su Nan's face.
The Summon Monster Spell, as its name suggests, can summon creatures from other dimensions to obey the caster's commands and assist in battle.
The strength of the summoned creature depends on the spell level, the caster's mental power, and luck.
A Level 1 Summon Monster Spell can summon creatures with power ranging from mid-knight to low-level grand knight.
The Fire Imp, a creature from the Fire Elemental Plane, has a combat strength equivalent to a peak knight.
While he didn't summon a high-level grand knight, a peak knight-level creature was still a significant boost.
At Su Nan's command, the Fire Imp let out a joyful cry and dashed towards the dazed giant lizard, latching onto it with a firm grip.
Almost instantly, the scales on the giant lizard's body that came into contact with the Fire Imp began to soften, shrink, and turn into charred remnants.
Intense flames quickly erupted, searing the flesh beneath and sizzling loudly.
The excruciating pain jolted the giant lizard out of the lingering effects of the Sleep Charm, causing it to let out a deafening, blood-curdling scream.
It rapidly twisted its massive body, rolling on the ground to extinguish the flames and shake off the Fire Imp. Then, it opened its massive, razor-toothed maw and lunged at the Fire Imp with a vicious bite.
Unfortunately, physical attacks had little effect on the elemental being. The Fire Imp's body was untouched as the giant lizard's teeth passed through it, and instead, the lizard's mouth was scorched by the flames, causing it to bellow in pain.
The Fire Imp giggled, opened its arms, and pounced again.
Burning and Flame Essence!
These were the two abilities the Fire Imp possessed.
The first ability allowed any creature the Fire Imp touched to suffer intense flame damage, capable of melting even metal into slag.
The second ability allowed the Fire Imp to continuously emit high-temperature rays, causing all creatures within a ten-meter radius to suffer continuous, albeit slightly less severe, burning damage.
In simple terms, the Fire Imp was a walking furnace.
Unless one had a magical item to shield against high heat, anyone the Fire Imp approached would face constant flame damage.
The giant lizard clearly had no means to counter the Fire Imp.
Its scales offered no resistance against the searing flames.
Under the Fire Imp's relentless pursuit, the giant lizard could only flee in a panic, losing the fearsome and imposing demeanor it had when it first appeared.
Bred, who had just recovered and climbed to his feet, saw this scene and froze, eyes wide with shock.
What kind of monster was this?
It was actually subduing that terrifying giant lizard!
Nearby, Koyi heaved a sigh of relief, inwardly marveling.
No wonder it was Su Nan, always ready with a multitude of tricks.
The Black-Scaled Lizards' decision to target him was undoubtedly their biggest mistake.
"Hehehe"
Laughter mingled with the agonized screams of the giant lizard, echoing across the battlefield.
Despite its best efforts to avoid direct contact with the Fire Imp, the giant lizard still suffered immensely from the Fire Imp's Flame Essence.
In a short time, its body was covered in horrific burn marks, with no intact scales left.
After once again extinguishing the flames on its body, the giant lizard finally couldn't take it anymore. It stumbled to a spot near Su Nan, collapsed on the ground, and began shaking its head up and down. Its amber vertical pupils displayed a human-like expression of pleading, almost as if it were begging for mercy.
"Quite intelligent, isn't it?"
Su Nan marveled.
Encountering such a rare and unique creature, he didn't want to kill it. He stopped the Fire Imp's pursuit and casually cast another Sleep Charm.
The severely injured giant lizard could no longer resist the effect of the Sleep Charm. Its eyelids flickered a few times, and it soon fell into a deep sleep.
Out of caution, Su Nan didn't stop there. He patted the Blackrock Leopard beside him, instructing it to pin down the giant lizard. Then, he placed his hand on the lizard's body and cast a Touch of Fatigue, draining its energy to ensure it was completely incapacitated.
Only after all this did he turn his attention back to the battlefield.
In that moment, the surviving Black-Scaled Lizards felt a chill run down their spines.
To their horror, the terrifying flame monster let out a joyful cry and charged towards them.
