Chapter 23: Background is Crucial
Chapter 23: Background is Crucial
Mystic Space, Year 1, Month 11, Day 2.
Shinigami Luk awakened his Zanpakuto and declared his intention to rebel and establish a new empire.
Four Luks intervened, each drawing out a Zanpakuto to surround and suppress Shingami Luk. The battle lasted for seventeen minutes, and Shingami Luk was defeated, demoted to the lowest rank and stripped of all political rights.
This battle is recorded in history as the Ruk's Rebellion.
Mystic_space, Year 1, Record 01.
...
Port, Windmill Village, Harbor.
Luk made his twentieth attempt to summon his Zanpakuto in the real world, but it failed once again.
In the Mystic_space, the Luks' abilities have no limits, and they can manifest their Zanpakutos. However, in the real world, it seems that summoning a Zanpakuto still requires a medium.
"Damn it, Kurosaki Ichigo got the power of a Shinigami and immediately summoned his Zanpakuto. Why can't I use a Zanpakuto?"
He didn't care about the protagonist treatment, the hybrid bloodline, or the friendship with Baku. "Since the Zanpakuto is half a spirit, shouldn't it be available whenever I want it? Why do I need so many prerequisites?"
"Oh, given to the Shinigami?"
"No way!"
"Several of us can summon and use it at will, so why can't the Zanpakuto?"
"Damn, not even my second half."
Luk cursed angrily at the sky, picking up the falcon from his waist, "Is our falcon any less impressive than that broken sword?"
The falcon emitted a weak wave of dissatisfaction, though its master praised it. He clearly felt the master's heart was not in the right place, and he was so envious of the Zanpakuto that he wanted to lick it twice!
But licking the Zanpakuto in front of the previous master was different, that time was just to make the previous master despise it.
Zanpakuto, the master really wanted to kneel and lick it twice!
Feeling the sword in his hand, Luk frowned and gave the falcon two slaps across the shoulders.
"Stop causing trouble, if you want to throw a tantrum, at least look at your own goods."
What level of sword, to want to get angry, should be the level of the God of Thunder's hammer or the Storm Axe.
Seeing the Zanpakuto, Luk had no more affection for the falcon.
But it was just a substitute before the Zanpakuto.
Falcon: These past two days of affection and time were all wasted!
It might not be human, but the master was truly a dog. Every time it was stimulated, it considered learning the notorious demon blade Gekkou from the neighboring village, betraying and rebelling its master every now and then.
Walking into the port, seeing the smoke not far away, Luk combed his hair, straightened his clothes, and cleared his throat. His face, handsome and heroic, stood tall and upright, exceptionally pure.
At first glance, he looked like a naive child.
Before he could make a grand entrance, he saw a small figure running towards him.
"Headbutt!"
Two hands stretched out with rubbery arms at their limits, grabbing Luk's shoulders. Following closely was a fifteen-year-old boy.
The boy wore a red vest and blue shorts, his feet in sandals with exposed toes, and a yellow straw hat on his head.
Bang!
Colliding with Luk's solid chest, the boy's body flew backward due to the immense counterforce, but he clung back to Luk's arm and flew back.
Despite the massive impact, the boy suffered no injuries.
Luffy, the revolutionary son of Dragon, the grandson of Navy hero Garp, and one of the four emperors of Shanks, the user of the Mythical_Zoo_Fruit in its Nika form.
"What are you, the chosen one of the heavens?"
In the Fiery_sea, the three main characters initially thought it was all about passion, but in the end, it all boiled down to background. Only those with connections can truly succeed.
"Hey, Luffy, it's been a while."
Just returning, he encountered an old friend, laughing. He had intentionally built a good relationship with Luffy, and his strategy was simple—feed some meat and juice to gain favor.
The friendship between the protagonists is too easily gained, especially with such passionate and naive characters. The only exception was with someone like the leader of the "Ultra-Perception" faction, who could easily discern if someone was close to them or not.
Those days of brushing off good feelings are actually quite nostalgic. Hanging out with the kids was quite fun, play with, even when they were a bit naughty, they listened to him obediently.
Luffy, however, seemed to miss his greeting, examining him closely from side to side as if he was looking for something.
"Luffy, what are you looking for? Da... phew, I'll find it for you."
Lu Ke patted his face, aligning it with his own.
"How strange, it's clearly Lu Ke's scent, but why can't you see me?"
Luffy let go of Lu Ke, moving his nose, his tiny eyes filled with great doubt.
"Are you a dog?"
"I am Lu Ke."
Lu Ke, with his dark hair, pulled Luffy's face outward. The highly elastic rubber man was stretched to an exaggerated length and then released.
Slap!
Luffy's face returned to its original position, unharmed. He laughed, patting Lu Ke's thigh, "Ha ha, impossible, you definitely aren't Lu Ke."
"Why do you say that?"
"Lu Ke looks so ordinary, completely different from you."
"..."
Bang!
"Ow!"
A big bump appeared on Luffy's head, hurting him as he cradled his head defensively, pitifully staring at Lu Ke.
"Hurts more than when grandpa hits, what did you do?"
"This is a soul-piercing punch. So, not bad, right?"
Lu Ke blew smoke from his fist, using chakra, qi, and spiritual pressure, three special energies against Luffy, who is immune to purely physical attacks, the effect was significant.
"So, are you really Lu Ke? Wow, how did you suddenly become so handsome? Oh, that's a pretty cool sword. Can you play with it a bit?"
Confirming the person in front was Lu Ke, Luffy's visible excitement grew, showing great interest in Lu Ke's changes and items.
"Huh, why do I feel you've grown taller?" Luffy compared heights with his hands and found no strength, "Grr, I could reach your navel before, but now I'm taller and can only reach your golden chin."
Another meter sixty, Luffy would need to grow for two more years to reach 172.
Bang!
Another bump appeared on Luffy's head, and he cradled his head defensively again, "Why did you hit me?"
"Hitting you means hitting you, do you need to pick a day too?" Lu Ke didn't expect this in the Daughters' Kingdom, where he could naturally show sensitivity to such matters.
At such a young age, Luffy, unlike the genius who could develop harem techniques, never considered such matters. His shy face never turned red, even when the Pirate Empress hugged him, and he didn't feel a thing.
Sigh... It seems that Poya Hankuke's life is tough. Lu Ke stroked his chin, thinking of the Pirate Empress who he had to love unilaterally, feeling the need to save her.
He found such external high coldness and internal shy girls completely defenseless.
"Lu Ke, Lu Ke, what are you daydreaming about?"
Luffy reached out and shook Lu Ke.
"Thinking about how awesome... cough, nothing." Lu Ke, feeling a bit nervous, lifted Luffy onto his shoulder, "To celebrate my return, I'll treat you to a big meal today."
"Oh, then I'll eat meat, lots of meat!" Luffy perked up, excited about the food, "Lu Ke, you're really great!"
"Sure, I feel great too." Lu Ke nodded, "Eat your fill, today your expenses will be covered by the big brother, as a way to compensate you."
"Why is it compensation? What have you done to deserve it?" Luffy asked, a bit dumbly.
Lu Ke rubbed his unbruised conscience, standing straight and proud, "Of course not."
He just planned to take out a few sky dragons before Luffy set sail, nothing else, purely to make those parasites feel unpleased!
Thank to Mengwang and Gao Mouren for their monthly votes.
Several new books have entered the charts, barely making it into the overall infinite category. I signed on the 25th and entered the library on the 26th. The data started to pick up, and within a few days, I felt a bit smug with myself, even though I don't think anyone would specifically look for new books by new authors in the infinite category. The marketing effect seems minimal.
