Chapter 228: Pokemon in Low Spirits
Chapter 228: Pokemon in Low Spirits
Naoki: "..."
Alright then!
Compared to the majestic and formidable Mightyena and Howltail, Golegator was undoubtedly the most powerful Pokemon.
Naoki sat down next to his Golegator, basking in the sun together.
Golegator comfortably half-closed its eyes, while Naoki began to recall the ancient paradox Pokemon that existed.
The paradox species of Donkong—Grand Jaw;
The paradox species of Pudding—Roartail;
The paradox species of Blusher—Fierce Shroom;
The paradox species of Hypno—Flutterwing;
The paradox species of Fire Moth—Groundwing;
The paradox species of Tri-Electrode—Sandiron;
The paradox species of Salamence—Roar Moon.
In addition, there were also the three ancient species of the Articuno Guard.
Two of them had already been revealed at the time of his crossover—the paradox species of Suicune—Tidal Wave, and the paradox species of Raikou—Thunder Drum.
Only the paradox species of Entei remained a mystery, with its name and appearance unknown.
"I wonder about the strength of these three legendary beasts' ancient species..." Naoki mused to himself.
They must also have been summoned by the time machine, just like the many paradox Pokemon.
If that was the case, it meant he had a chance to encounter them at the Pathius Great Pit.
After lunch, Naoki went to check on the injured Pokemon in the Berry Orchard.
The orchard was quiet, with barely any Pokemon sounds, a stark contrast to the cheerful chatter of Frostine and Salazard outside in the grassy field.
Naoki peered inside and saw the group of Pokemon hiding in the wooden huts, seemingly still traumatized by the recent events.
It was already one in the afternoon, nearly thirty hours since the fire had occurred.
Although the environment was now safe, and they had no worries about food or shelter, the Pokemon's spirits still seemed dampened and dejected.
Some Pokemon poked their heads out of the huts when they saw Naoki approaching.
Naoki met their gaze and offered a gentle smile. "I'm here to check on your injuries and see how your recovery is going."
"Chirp!"
The lively Chesto Chestnut was the first to jump out of the small wooden house.
Its fluffy tail swayed behind it, looking adorable, except for the patch of fur that had been burned bald.
Chesto Chestnut held its injured tail, presenting it to Naoki for inspection, its expression pitiful. "Chirp, chirrup..."
Naoki examined it carefully and said with a smile, "It's mostly healed. The burn has recovered, and by next winter, the fur will have completely regrown."
"Chirp!"
Hearing that its fur would regrow, the carefree Chesto Chestnut immediately cheered up.
It turned around, its tail swaying as it ran back into its hut.
Naoki's gaze followed, and he spotted a large pile of berries behind where Chesto Chestnut had been standing.
Those were most likely the berries that Chesto Chestnut had stored up for the winter, a habit similar to that of real-world squirrels.
Thinking of this, Naoki couldn't help but associate it with the scorched forest on the back mountain.
He wondered if there was a tree there filled with berries stored by Chesto Chestnut.
If that place had been burned down, Chesto Chestnut would surely be heartbroken.
Indeed, Chesto Chestnut had been deeply saddened.
It had spent the entire previous day in a gloomy mood, only feeling better after gathering another batch of berries to store in its nest that morning.
Looking at the piles of berries in the wooden hut, Chesto Chestnut felt a sense of comfort and happiness.
First, he checked on the Electrike that had been perched in the tree.
Its wings had been burned in the fire, causing it to lose its ability to fly. The Electrike had been dejected ever since.
It kept trying to flap its wings and take off, but each attempt ended in failure.
Noticing this, Naoki approached and gently lifted it down from the tree, examining the bandaged wings.
As expected, the wounds underneath were even more severe.
Naoki frowned and called out to his brother, Ai Guanshi, to bring him the medical kit. He carefully reapplied medicine to the Electrike's wings and said, "You must not fly until your wounds are fully healed. Every time you try to fly now, the injuries will worsen. If this continues, there's a chance you might never recover your ability to fly."
Hearing these words, a flash of fear crossed the Electrike's eyes, and it immediately became docile, hanging its head low to indicate that it wouldn't attempt to fly again.
Naoki patted its head gently and said, "I know flying is in your nature, and losing your wings must be scary. That's why you keep trying to fly. But I promise you, as long as you don't flap your wings too vigorously, your wings will heal. Before long, you'll be able to soar in the sky again. Can you trust me on that?"
The Electrike looked up at him, its dark eyes full of uncertainty, and then slowly nodded.
"Good." Naoki smiled and stroked its head affectionately. "Starting today, I'll come by twice a day to change your bandages."
After returning the Electrike to its wooden hut, Naoki continued on his way. Up ahead, under a few fruit trees, he spotted a group of Pokemon—Lileep, Jumpluff, Shroomish, and Spoink—who had been affected by the fire.
These Pokemon were generally docile in nature, and although they appeared dispirited, they greeted Naoki warmly when they saw him.
Naoki smiled and walked over to inspect their injuries. "Your wounds have healed quite a bit. If you get some good rest, you should make a full recovery soon."
"Traa!"
Hearing this, three Shroomish happily circled around Naoki, delighted by the news.
Two Jumpluff also began floating around him, their movements graceful.
Spoink and Lileep watched from the side, smiling at the heartwarming scene.
Seeing the group of Pokemon finally smile again, Naoki felt a sense of relief.
He gazed toward the distance, where a group of Numel, Plusle, Minun, and Kricketune had gathered upon hearing the commotion. Softly, he said, "Everything will be alright."
After checking on the group and confirming that they were all doing well, Naoki stood up and surveyed the area.
Suddenly, he realized that one Pokemon was missing.
Electabuzz was fine; its injuries had healed completely the day before. But there was one Pokemon he couldn't find...
"Where's Slakoth?" Naoki searched around but couldn't spot the lazy Pokemon.
Just then, Plusle and Minun chirped and pointed in a certain direction.
Naoki followed their gesture and soon found Slakoth lying in a grassy patch surrounded by fruit trees, basking in a shaft of sunlight that filtered through the leaves.
Even with his arrival, Slakoth barely moved, merely shifting its eyes and letting out a lazy yawn.
Naoki: "..."
It was clear that Slakoth had completely adapted to the relaxed lifestyle of the ranch.
