Chapter 228: Different Time Differentials in the Universe
Chapter 228: Different Time Differentials in the Universe
An alien resembling a water insect stood upright, with four arms and translucent wings. Its bloated head looked like a scattered crown.
"Thank you, alien, you've freed us from the nightmare." A strange voice wave came through, but the weakness was clear, indicating that they had been severely tormented.
Led by Heishou, a group of fully armed spirits spoke, "So now it's time for you to pay the price. We need all the technological knowledge of your Pioneering Empire. Otherwise, what Freddy can do, we can do as well."
Heishou had no time to argue. Their interdimensional floating city was hanging high above the Pioneering Empire's homeworld. If they didn't cooperate, Qin Mu's ruthless actions would not be spared.
"No problem, I'll arrange it." This Pioneering alien was the ruler of the entire empire, but Heishou didn't know his specific name.
"Very well, we only need the technology. Once we have it, we'll leave." Heishou made a promise, otherwise, staying to colonize would be unnecessary.
Qin Mu had long wanted to leave.
"By the way, do you know anything about the Arachnida insectoids?" Heishou asked.
The Pioneering Emperor looked strange, then recalled something, and his peculiar face showed pain, clearly from the painful memories: "The Arachnida insectoids are despicable pirates in the universe. We monitored their movements for a while, and it's said they found something. But then the nightmare came, and we didn't know any more."
"The Iron Blood Civilization was destroyed, the Engineer Civilization's technological traces were erased, and you were surrounded by nightmares. I think you know what this means, right?" Heishou said.
"What... this... this..." The Pioneering Emperor's body visibly trembled, clearly out of fear.
"It seems you know something." Heishou wasn't stupid and could see the abnormality.
However, he didn't press for an answer. If the other could say it, they would; if not, it would be trouble to force it.
"Yes, I understand. This is the work of the Creator." The Pioneering Emperor slowly said, but didn't give a specific reason.
Heishou didn't continue to ask, instead changing the subject: "Let's not talk about this. Tell me about Freddy. You brought him all the way from Earth to your homeworld to harm you. Why?"
From what they could see, Freddy absolutely didn't want to kill the Pioneers here. For a killer, they were pure, simply perverse.
For example, Freddy, he found no joy in torturing and killing these upright water insects in his dreams.
Power was just a means to achieve his pleasure. Now that the pleasure was gone, what use was power?
All he wanted was to torment and kill humans, specifically children.
He had no interest in aliens, unlike Jason, whose killings were more straightforward, just slaying anyone who entered his domain, whether it was Crystal Lake or the homeworld of the Iron Blood Civilization.
"No, it wasn't us who brought Freddy to our homeworld, but he was exiled here."
"At first, it was just a small-scale nightmare, but later we couldn't stop it. In just three days, the entire empire fell." The Pioneering Emperor said painfully.
Qin Mu, who heard this through the video, was bewildered.
Three days? This was ridiculous. Freddy could drag an interstellar civilization into a nightmare in three days but couldn't even kill a group of children and was killed in return.
So, Earthlings are all monsters, right?
"Does this mean you had no means to counter it? You've already achieved interstellar colonization, why didn't other colonized planets notice something was wrong?" Heishou asked.
This was crucial, so he had to ask.
"Dead, all dead. Before the nightmare arrived, communications with all the colonized planets were cut off, as if they were erased in an instant. We still can't contact our people on the colonized planets." The other gave a very standard answer.
This feeling was like the horror of one person being extended to an entire civilization.
While Heishou and the Pioneering Emperor talked, Qin Mu was thinking about something. It was a bit like reaping.
Harvest one batch, then another.
After all, there are plenty of civilizations in the universe. If smaller civilizations can be reaped, why not target the larger ones?
The more Qin Mu thought about it, the more he realized how deep the waters of this world truly were.
From the current assessment, the Pioneering Empire was not weak. In terms of military equipment, they might be slightly inferior to him, as Qin Mu's arsenal was a combination of the Iron Blood Civilization and the magic system, while the Pioneering Empire mainly relied on bioweapons and hyperspace technology.
Hyperspace technology was his Achilles' heel, so the only real threat was their bioweapons—KAIJU, or Kaiju for short. Qin Mu was quite intrigued by this technology. With this, the development of golem-level mechs could proceed more smoothly.
Mechs don't necessarily have to be made of metal; they can also use biotechnology, and even the gargoyle-level armor could be updated and modernized.
Metal has many drawbacks, so combining these technologies for improvement could yield significant benefits.
Unfortunately, the Engineer Civilization was gone, otherwise, the harvest would have been even greater. He hoped Kronos would give him a pleasant surprise.
He didn't push for it; it would be great if he got it, but if not, he was prepared to leave.
The experiences of the three major interstellar civilizations had made him cautious.
Being cautious was normal; he wasn't a reckless fool who would charge into danger knowing there was a problem.
As for the Arachnida insectoids, Qin Mu had no intention of interacting with them. Their fate was likely grim.
The Arachnida insectoids had not developed an effective technological environment; they had reached their current state through natural evolution. This meant they were probably only useful as samples and experimental subjects.
Risking his life for such a minor gain didn't seem worth it to Qin Mu.
If not for the time needed to collect technological data, he would have left immediately.
Because of this, he was increasingly reluctant to leave his mage tower.
Life was the most important thing; why put himself in danger for a little gain?
If he could take it, he would; if not, he would leave.
He wasn't a protagonist with deep-seated grudges who had to fight for everything. He no longer cared about minor losses and gains.
On the other side, Heishou was continuously delving deeper into the Pioneering Empire and the surrounding interstellar civilizations, but the information was limited.
"The timeline doesn't match. The Iron Blood Civilization was destroyed a year or two ago, and the Engineer Civilization's technological traces were erased even longer ago. How could you have received no news at all? Isn't that a bit odd?" Heishou asked.
"That's impossible. A year ago, we were still holding talks," the Pioneering Emperor firmly denied.
"Is your year a standardized time unit?" Heishou asked, knowing that different star systems had different time standards.
"We use the time on the Creator's planet as our standard, so it must be the same," the Pioneering Emperor replied.
The Creator's planet was the Earth mentioned by the four major interstellar civilizations.
This made the situation even more mysterious.
Qin Mu, upon hearing this, found it peculiar. He didn't think he had misjudged, as the signs were too obvious.
However, Qin Mu didn't believe the Pioneering Emperor was lying, as there was no reason for him to do so.
If neither party was lying and neither had misjudged, then the problem must lie with time.
If this were any other place, Qin Mu wouldn't have thought this way, but this world was different. It was neither scientific nor mystical, so anything was possible.
Different time flow rates? Why not?
With some entity pushing things, anything could happen. He strongly suspected it was the God in the Garden of Eden, though he didn't know why.
"I understand. How long will it take you to gather the information we need?" Heishou didn't want to dwell on this topic, as Qin Mu was urging him.
The Pioneering Emperor understood Heishou's thoughts and knew they wanted to leave. He replied, "Very soon, an hour will be enough. The technological data you need is extensive, and even transferring it to storage devices takes time."
A fully developed society collecting information was much more efficient than doing it himself, especially a technologically advanced interstellar society.
